  1. ...I just uploaded those 2 screenshots, but now I'm thinking you need the actual file so I'll upload that now. Thanks MEB. -Christo
  2. Yes MEB, I should be able to have that uploaded within about 30 min. Thanks in advance. -Christo
  3. Thanks Bleduc... ...shouldn't be a low-on-space issue, it's a 3 month old MacBook Pro that I've transferred no data to from my previous MBook. How could I investigate the 'driver issue' piossility - any ideas? Appreciate it Bleduc. -Christo
  4. AD family, This issue I'm trying to sort/figure out MUST be something extremely simple. My apologies for posting again on the same topic but my brain has not served me well on this one. Ive designed a simple image/logo made up of 8 or 9 layers, then grouped them together. My desire was then to duplicate the entire image (group of layers) which I successfully via the cmd+j shortcut. you can see the dups in the layers panel in 1 of the 2 screenshots I've attached below. Here's where Im hitting a wall...using the Move tool, I select/click the topmost grouped-layer in an attempt to drag the duplicates apart and play around with them. When I do this all 4 grouped-layers move around with each other as if 'locked' together. I took a peek at the Line view and could see that in fact all 4 duplicated groups had been moved, and were NOT stacked atop each other as I'd thought. Any/all guidance is greatly appreciated. Thanks for bearing with the elementary questions. Regards, -Christo
  5. Much thanks v_dyr and gdenby! This helps a great deal, and your direction has resulted in my learning several new wrinkles in how to operate. Fantastic! -Christo
  6. Thanks for the response gdenby... The file type is .png and although the image opens up as a new document in my AD app, is visible, and has the blue selection square with rotation tool at the top center, the image does respond to my use of the node tool. I click on the Node tool, then attempt to create a node, and...nothing. Know what I'm missing/doing wrong? Thanks again, -Christo
  7. AD folks, Any way for me to convert an imported .png file created using the Sketch app so that I can manipulate it in Affinity Designer? I created a new document in AD and imported the above mentioned image but cannot figure out how to work off of this image, making minor changes/effects, etc. Thanks in advance. -Christo
  8. Straight-up newbie question from Christovw66 again folks, I've attached two reference images to help show the nature of this how-to question of mine. Pictured is a hand drawn image of a logo concept emailed to me by a friend. Using the donut shape tool I added the outer ring for contrast, and here is my question... ...what tool or which operation(s) can I use in AD to clean up the edge of the inner, solid black circle (seen in the close-up)? This inner black circle is also obviously not a perfect circle, which is the other thing I need to correct with this image...how best would I approach this? The logo appears to already be in vector form as the above mentioned 'rough-edge' does not pixelate upon zoom in. I appreciate any/all guidance on this, as I realize the questions are quite rudimentary. Honestly, I've tried to figure it out on my own - not being lazy, just have a shallow knowledge of AD ops at this point. Regards, -Christo
  9. Thanks Timespider, sorry I'm so delayed in my response. I will try again tomorrow, but I'm 99.9% sure I had only one group highlighted/selected in the layers panel. It is possible however that I neglected to select the very topmost group when attempting the click/drap op. Appreciate your help! -Christo

  11. Hey guys/gals, christovw66 here again with a quick question, I've created a relatively simple logo/icon which is composed of 12 layers. After grouping all 12 layers, I then duplicated the original image 10 times - so they are stacked on top of each other (can plainly see them in the layers panel. My problem: when I attempt to click and drag the topmost image (group of layers), the entire 'stack' moves. I'm nearly 100% sure it's something I'm either not doing, or doing incorrectly. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Regards, Christo
  12. Quick question folks - thanks in advance, I am about to start working with a round logo that was hand drawn but has yet to be made into a vector image. I'll focus my question for the sake of simplicity. The logo is inside a black circle, the edges of which need obviously become very pixelated and ragged upon zooming. Which AD tool/procedure do I need to use in order to clean up, or 'vectorize' outer edges such as these? Appreciate it. -Christo
  13. MEB, Thanks for taking the time to look at this file for me. I uploaded it to the link you provided. Christo
  14. ...both circles have been selected, but not grouped. I did not intentionally rasterize either circle so if they are I'm unaware of how that would have happened. *MEB - yes, I can upload the file to the link you provided but won't be back at my computer to do so for a few hours. Sorry, will do it then. *Ammmpamm - thanks for the tip on using the Crescent!...I'm just trying to learn and get comfortable with all the core tools, tricks, and functions. Much appreciated, -Christo
  15. Hey guys - newbie here again, Trying to do a very basic operation by 'intersecting' 2 overlapping circles in order to create a simple 'leaf' shape. The Help instructions seem clear to me, except that all but 1 of the Boolean operation icons are greyed out and I cannot activate them. Additionally, in the Layers menu, all the manually accessed functions such as Add, Subtract, etc are also greyed out. What, this time, am I missing? Thanks in advance, I appreciate the help greatly. -Christo

  17. Thanks again for all the help guys...about to try all your instructions. Also just purchased Affinity Photo and am anxious to learn it as well. Trying to get comfortable with the basics of AD first. Appreciate it! christo
  18. Thanks for the step-by-step guys, I really appreciate it. Alfred, when you say 'select the item', are you referring to clicking on the grouped items layer in the Layers panel? And when dragging one of the duplicated images (grouped layers) that are stacked on one another, I assume this is done simply via a click/drag with the mouse, yes? (working on Mac's, btw) Cheers! -Christo
  19. Apologies for the newbie question here, I have the feeling I'm overlooking something very obvious but can't seem to figure it out. I've created a logo which consists of 6 layers. The layers have been grouped together. My question is a 2-parter: 1) how do I duplicate the group/image-as-a-whole...then separate (drag?) the dup from the original? and, 2) how can I then copy/paste the dup(s) to a new document or artboard? Thanks in advance for any help on this. christo
  20. Another newbie question here - I've purchased and downloaded a fonts package from CreativeMarket. What are my next steps in accessing these fonts for use in Affinity Designer 1.5? Thanks. Christo
