Bomatick got a reaction from Braulio Chances in How to convert lines to objects (for further use)
    Hello again.

I have to say (and the little 'Staff' underneath your profile might give that away) your support is stellar.
Never been to a forum where the actual people are that fast to respond to things.

And thanks again, since I might stick with you – since I like your approach and whats in the pipe – I'll do a proper introduction in the members section. :)

    jup, that worked.
Though I have to say, I missed it in the help-section, since it's right underneath the 'To convert a shape to curves'  and I was looking for 'convert line to shape' or something similar.

Bomatick got a reaction from Brinomi in Add vector node in middle of path?
    Hello MEB(?) :)

Thx for your lighting fast reply.
I've attached two pics with this post to clarify what I'm up to.

When using the Pen tool, I sometimes get additional distances (in red) between two nodes (though I wasn't able to screen capture them). This is helpful, but why not snap to the middle, when you already have the data?

Or when using the Node tool, I can hover over a line and insert a additional node, which is good,  so I'm able to do this (snap to middle) with the object itself (this is why I might be able to do this on the sides and on the top/bottom of the attached hexagon) not with the line. -_-

I got you right, this option isn't implemented yet, or am I missing something fundamental?
I mean, working with symmetry is on of THE most important feature to have in content creation (and also lining up vertices/nodes evenly on any line).
Because I really like to make the transition away from Illustrator and use AD as a freelancer professionally (where the 50 bucks is really cheap, dunno how much longer you can sustain this price-policy if you transition further into a whole suite of pro-grade tools with Pages and stuff).

    Anyways...
if any of you out there has a workaround, I'd appreciate every help. :)

It took me seconds to do this in Corel Draw. I really would appreciate if you'd implement some serious node- & line-tools in 1.6!
This is a dealbreaker for some kind of work. thx.

Our ability to produce professional software is somewhat governed by income from those products. Income for us is calculated by copies x price and our current price point is simply designed to produce the greatest income. Increasing the cost of the product will not increase our ability to make competitive PRO software.

They actually make *very* good software. And for a ton of years. They indeed have demonstrated their new focus (Affinity) to less amateur users, being now the target both amateur users and professionals.

Then think twice....I've seen that happening (as a completely professional user in several areas, having been both a freelancer and a professional with quite some high responsibilities as an employee) with free software even! And a bunch at quite a lower price than 50 bucks ! (wont mention a list of them to not do even more (than I often do) publicity of other brands..). Price is ONLY one part of the equation. Same way, I've seen total sinking boats being bloated apps with crazy UIs, and yet outrageously expensive.  I mean, through decades of software's history.

In my view, the focus is fully professional and the apps already are indeed , in many ways. Is very different to compare a young app and a very old, fixed and patched through decades suite, than considering it is a case of an amateurish group of apps, which, knowing A BUNCH of apps from other brands which indeed are that amateurish... I can tell you, is far from the case of Affinity. Is just a WIP, a work in progress at a younger stage than the arcane Adobe or Corel are, but imo, advancing way faster in strict comparison.

Ok, ok... obviously it were 4, 5, 6 cents or so!

Anyways, just to be clear JOBEYB & co: if Affinity was to up the price, because the package will be heading more towards Adobe, Corel & QuarkX, and thus takes cheap outta the time-energy-money equation, THEN obviously an enthusiast or semi-pro doesn't need the whole package, don't they?

Me as a small freelancer or, say, a small company/studio/whatever, this is a another cup o' tea.
Rather then seeing Affinity stumble and crash, I'd be happy to buy a pro-version, if this means they can compete with the big players and make good software.

Adobe isn't completely evil, or any other major, some of their stuff is just so sophisticated it takes hundreds of ppl to get them up and (keep em) running – and I heard even software engineers need to eat sometimes! ^^
...and I don't think you can make a competitive PRO-program on 50 bucks alone.

So yeah, have a 'hobby/starter' version for 50 bucks, since this is very fair pricing and everyone needs to start somewhere, and on the other hand have a real-pro version that's really competitive and industry-standard!

Just waiting for Beta... nothing else to add to!

Heard about upping the price for all the apps. My 2 cents?
As a wanna-be pro-software, it's very, very fair priced. To be honest: good software costs money and I'd rather go with a 'pro' version, for a reasonable price (aka. small studios + freelancers friendly) and have the 'vanilla' version still for an also reasonable price available, so that hobby-folks and enthusiasts could still afford them. As long as you don't fall into the subscibtion trap, as so many software packages did.

Hell, even some note taking apps do the subscription dance, which is ridiculous imho.

So keep up the good work and don't overpromise and let us waiting in vain!

    Hi MartinWales,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
No, there's no plans to support the PagePlus format. The first version/release will not cover all PagePlus functionality, since we are building the whole Affinity line from scratch so there's no parity between (the features of) the two programs which means some features would be lost during the translation/import of the files. We advise you to continue using PagePlus for your current projects and move to Publisher for new ones or export your projects as PDF files and import them in Affinity Publisher.

    Hi taizo,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
There isn't much we can add right now other than Publisher's development is going well. Unfortunately it may take a little more than we anticipated until the public Beta starts. Giving a new eta will only create more expectations than help at this point. Please bear with us while we work on it. We will announce it here and in the social media as soon as there's some news.
Regarding merchandising, as far as i know, no...

This offer has expired and so this thread is locked

    Finding the Offer
If you Purchase Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo for Desktop (Mac or Windows, not iPad) OR you already own Affinity on Mac or Windows, then you can also download the free content in the launch offer by updating Affinity to 1.6 and click the "Claim Now" button in the Welcome screen. The offer is only open until November 16th, so hurry up

First Update the software to 1.6.x. Mac software bought from the Mac App Store (MAS) is updated through the MAS update tab.
Windows software can be updated by running the App and pressing Download when prompted about the newer version.

Once you have installed the update, run the Affinity software (Designer or Photo) and the splash screen shows briefly, followed by the Welcome screen that looks like this

    Affinity Photo Welcome Screen

    Affinity Designer Welcome Screen

If you have the Welcome screen turned off (in Preferences) then you can still access the Welcome screen from the Help menu > "Welcome..." option

IF YOU CANNOT SEE THE SCROLLING OFFER, you will need to give your software firewall clearance in order to see the pages that looks like these attachments. On Windows you may also need to install Internet Explorer 10 or above. Some customers report they have needed to disable VPN networks . If that does not work and you are using the purchased version (not trial or beta) then please add to this thread and we will try to help.
    Claiming Your Content
Once you have clicked on the "Claim Now" in the software Welcome screen you will be taken to the Affinity Store (a shopping basket on our website) called "Your Order Summary", from which you can claim your content. Simply make an account by using the "NEW TO AFFINITY?" option on the store as you claim your content. (If you happen to have an account the New to affinity option will tell you anyway, so everyone can use that option) The free content will be added to the Downloads Section of your account and can be seen in future in your Affinity Store Order History.

    IMPORTANT
You will ONLY have an Affinity Store account if you have bought the Windows version of Affinity Designer or the Windows version of Affinity Photo or the Affinity Designer Workbook from our site Affinity.Store.
If you bought the Mac version from the Mac App Store you need to create an Affinity Store account to claim the free content. Purchases from the Mac App Store (MAS) are ONLY in Apple's database and Affinity Mac owners DO NOT have an automatic Affinity Store account.
A forum account is not an Affinity Store account, so if that's all you have you will need to create an account too.
A Serif legacy account (used to buy the Plus range) is NOT an affinity store account, the databases are 100%independent.

    Installing the Content
Once you have downloaded the free content each zip file has instructions in an included PDF as to how to install it or use it in the appropriate Affinity application. Each one is different. As well as being inside the Zip files, you can also find these Quick start guides in English and German linked to in this resources post
https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/50300-installing-free-16-content/ For the Photo Content there is also a video on the Uplift Epic Skies collection here https://vimeo.com/240834026

There's already plans for a new Affinity DAM application which will provide the functionality you are describing. There's no eta for this yet.
