  1. In AD, how can I export only the cropped area of vector? Currently, when I export to pdf, eps, svg, the elements outside the crop are still visible. Thanks
  2. Editing Vectors • Node handles can be selected and nudged independent of node, via keyboard. • Node handles can be moved independent of node by changing coordinates in "Transform Palette". • Note handles can mirror each other during resize • Nodes can be aligned with "align and distrupute" options. • Place a node in the center of a segment by pressing COMMAND while hovering segment • "Cusp Mode" option alongside Sharp, Smooth, Smart • Button for "Rounding object to nearest pixel edge". Essentially, this would force selected objects to re-align to whole pixels. For example, an object with a height of 3.7px would round to 4px after pressing the button. • Preserve object shape when deleting non-extrema nodes Editing Text • Double-clicking or alt-clicking bottom of the bounding box automatically adjusts height to fit containing text. • Pressing ESC ( once ) exits active text box and activats "Move Tool" • Pressing ENTER on selected text box activates cursor and edit mode Exporting • Have a paramater for changing DPI in the "Export Options" pallete. • Cleaner SVG output. For example, option to run SVGO during "SVG For Web" export • @2x, @3x variants inherit document DPI and don't multiply it as they currently do Tools • New tool ( or toolbar button ) for scaling selected objects • New tool ( or toolbar button ) for rotating instances around circle or shape. • Eye dropper tool "magnafying glass" displays hex value • Eye dropper tool shows "magnafying glass" by default instead of cross-hair. Or, pressing ALT shows this. General • Duplicate object in place ( ALT + CMD + J ) • "Paste Here" option via right-click context menu. This pastes the object at the pointer location. • Allow custom keyboard shorcut for toggling layer visibility • Option to permanently reset selection box ( mentioned by others ) • Gradients as studio palette. Currently, this tab exists in context toolbar only.
  3. This issue is still persistent. Any plans to resolve it for 1.6?
  4. Completely agree with having this. Additionally, it would be nice if, by default, the app starts/opens with a blank infinite canvas. So, if you don't feel like going New --> New Document and choosing a configuration every time, you can simply start making things. And, later you can add the document settings if needed. Or, if the infinite canvas is not possible, perhaps an option to "Use this document preset when Affinity launches". Essentially, this would automatically create a new document ( based on user preset ) when the app launches.
  5. Any update on the this? Still no option to show single digits ( no decimals ) for shear and rotate in latest version of AD.
  6. So, what if I need to have exactly 1 inch below a text box? This is difficult to get exactly right, because you have to guess where to resize the bottom frame to. If the text frame had auto height, then there is no guesswork and the measurement would be precise. Another approach could allow the text frame height to exceed the content inside -- as it does now -- but NOT allow it to be shorter than the content. So if you manually resize the text frame, it will stop at the last line of text. Currently, you can resize the frame shorter than the content, causing text to "overflow" outside the frame, but this would prevent that. And, it would allow for accurate measuring beneath the frame.
  7. @Fixx I added an example image. The text frame on the left is taller than the text height, leaving a large space below. This can be corrected by dragging the bottom of the frame upward until it's close to the base of the text, however this is not practical and requires guessing. Ideally, there should be an option to force the text frame to automatically match the height of the content and text inside it. As mentioned above, Adobe handles this by double-clicking the frame boundary, which resizes the text frame, causing it to only be as tall as the content. Example: https://drp.io/i/EJq8GTfj-
  8. This might have been added to the 1.5 beta, but I haven't been using it, so please excuse me if it exists. Anyway, I think it would be nice to have the option to set auto height and width for text frames. As of now, you have to manually resize the height or width if the content doesn't fill the entire text frame. This is bad because it's guess work and throws off vertical grid alignment. Having the ability to set auto height and width would ensure the text frame is the exact size of the content. I believe Adobe handles this by allowing you to double click on the text frame boundary, which causes the frame to resize to fit the content. Another option could be a checkbox in the "context toolbar" to enable auto size. Thoughts?
  9. Okay, thanks MEB. By the way, is there a keyboard shortcut to change the selected node?
  10. Hello, is it possible to copy/paste the selected part of a path? For example, I would like to copy the selected nodes in the following image, and paste elsewhere. When I attempt this, the entire object is pasted.
  11. Hello, is it possible to move a node and keep the node handle anchored in place? For example, in the image attached, I would like to move the position of node "A" but keep the handle "B" fixed in place. As of now, "B" always moves along side the "A" node.
  12. Hello, what is the best way to close and join the paths in the following image? For example, I would like to join nodes A/B together and C/D together. I tried "Close Curve" in the context toolbar, but that joined A/C and B/D together. Any suggestions?
  13. For now, I drag out a guideline and snap that to the object center. Then add the node and snap that to the guideline. Seems a bit tedious though. Edit: exactly what MEB said
  14. PixelPest is correct -- that's what I'm trying to achieve. As an example, in Sketch.app, if you press "command" while hovering the path segment, an "indicator" appears in the middle of the segment so you know where to place the node.
  15. I can't seem to locate a preference in the custom Keyboard Shortcuts for toggling layer visibility. Does this not exist, or did I miss it? If it doesn't exist is there a work-around for assigning a shortcut?
  16. Hey MEB, I want to insert the node in the square's path, resulting in a square with 5 nodes. I have all the snapping options enabled, but when I attempt to insert the node -- using the Node Tool [A] -- there's no indication as to where the middle of the path line is. I have no problem adding the node to the path correctly… just can't place it directly in the middle.
  17. Still looking for a way to achieve this. Essentially, I would like to be able to add/place a node directly in the middle of a path -- between two existing nodes -- using the Node Tool [A]
  18. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there doesn't appear to be a way to paste text styles and attributes. This feature would work like "Paste Style" -- but for text. Example: you select a font, then modify tracking, vertical baseline, etc. -- now you want to apply those attributes, including font to a different text object. The "Paste Style" could be updated to accommodate the text as well. Thoughts? Additionally, I think it would be nice if -- when a text frame is selected, but not "active" -- pressing the "enter/return" key would active the "blinking" cursor. Double-clicking works fine, but this could be a nice alternative.
  19. In AP, it's difficult to determine which color is applied to stroke and fill because they have the same solid circle indicator. In AD the fill indicator is a solid circle and the stroke indicator has a hole in the middle — this make it very easy to distinguish the two. AP's stroke color indicator should also have the hollow center. Reference image: https://drp.io/i/VkdtWzOyZ
  20. Agree with @tajmahal. This is a much needed! It's a pain having to start the selection process over every time you're off by a few pixels
