  1. Here is another one: a. Create a document, let's say 10 pages b. Apply Master A, create Master B and apply that master to some of the pages c. Click Spread Setup to change the margins (or whatever) d. Choose All Spreads (or Selected Spreads, marking both A and B) - (1) e. Click OK - (2) (3) - Master A now disappears, both Masters bear the same letter. (I've tried it different times in different settins. Only applies to Windows.) 1.7.3.481 on Win 7 Prof
  2. Hi, from time to time, I click "Tab" to toggle UI. A wonderful feature. Unfortunately, Toolbar, Context Toolbar and Tools keep disappearing. I've got to switch them on, manually. Just to let you know! 1.7.3. 481 on Win 7 Pro
  3. Hi, I've experienced this bug, for several times: (1) I'm not on a master, as you can see. (2) Toolbar is disabled (3) Yet, editing is possible, using the mouse and applying some shortcuts Workaround: Opening a different file. Now, all icons become active, again. Speaking of toolbars, there's another bug. See my next post. 1.7.3. 481 on Win 7 Pro
  4. The way InDesign does it, is perfect. There is one default setting for text frames in object styles. You can control and change that setting. In APub I have to work around that situation, creating and applying that default object style.
  5. I've already discovered the field for the page number in Publisher. That's great. However, I'd like to insert a footer like this: Page 1 of 9, 9 being the total number of pages. Is this possible, already? Kind regards Johann
  6. This feature just is a must, I'm missing it.You did not have it in PP, either.
  7. Hi Walt, I think my image makes it clear. 1. This is my first text frame. I've applied 2 text styles on purpose. 2. After this, I'm drawing a 2nd text frame to write more stuff. However, the styles are still there and get in my way. I've to "reset" the text frame.
  8. Hi, there is a bug with a setting in Kerning, applying to text styles. For instance: if I apply the text style Body, that's based on Base and if I check the Kerning (Position & Transform), it can't be right. In Body, it says [No change], that's fine. In Base, however, it says 0 0/oo. This 0 0/oo should be Auto as it is on a Mac. However, if I switch to Auto on a PC, Kerning disappears. So, you seem to have mixed the settings. This bug does not apply to the Mac version of Publisher and I assume, A Pub on Mac behaves as intended. Kind regards Johann
  9. I've discovered a peculiar behaviour of text frames. If I apply text styles to text in text frames (which I do, constantly), the next new text frame I draw, automatically inherits, takes on these styles. In most cases, this is completely unwanted and annoying and gets in my way. Is this a bug or meant as a feature? My workarounds so far: Draw all your text frames right in the beginning and start filling them, later. 2nd workaround: Create an object style (in Publisher: style) from a "neutral" frame (with the following text style setting: [No Style][No style]) and apply that style to every newly drawn text frame to get rid of unwanted text styles. My proposal: Define a default setting for fresh text frames and don't make it change all the time. Kind regards Johann
  10. Document|Go to Page is a fine command, I've even created a shortcut (F5). Actually, it should go links this: I type my shortcut (F5) The Go to Page box appears, I type my page number. (Works on Windows) I hit "Enter" (which should activate the OK function and lead me to my requested page). This does not work. I have to click the button OK. :-( This is one click too much. On a Mac, step 3 does not work, you can't just type the page number, you have to click into the field, before! But "Enter" works. It is not consistent and it is not the way it should work!
  11. If importing a Word file, Word's built-in Normal style (German: Standard) becomes [No Style] in Publisher. It does not matter if the text is short or long. Other styles work, even headings. The workaround: Don't use Word's built-in Normal style for body copy, invent your own name. This bug has been around for some time, now. I think it should be killed. :-) To illustrate what I mean, I've enclosed a short example file. Funnily enough, in older versions of QuarkXPress such as 2015, you would experience the same bug. So, for DTP programs, it seems to be difficult handling the Normal style, properly. Kind regards Johann ShortExample.docx
  12. No, don't blame Word. If I import the same Word docs into PagePlus, it works like a charme. Dominik, it definitely has to do with the name of the style: Normal (Standard). Because if I rename the style to jch_Standard, APub imports nicely. This very bug I had experienced with older versions of QuarkXPress, but never with InDesign. InDesigns Word import is and has always been just perfect.
  13. Good idea, this helped solving the problems with my short doc, completely. Thanks, Dominik! It didn't, however, solve the "Normal style disappears problem" in my long docs. In some of my docs, Normal style still turns into [No Style].
  14. It is weird, in some instances, it works, in some, it doesn't. I've attached an image and the corresponding Word doc to show that it hasn't worked. (Next try worked, however. So it seems to be a game of hazard.) PublisherTestdoc.docx
  15. Don't ask me, why, but out of a sudden it works fine (with some short documents). However, with one long document of mine, a novel, at least the Normal style stills turns into [No Style] again and this document you can get. However, I'd rather like to send the doc by mail. I'm not attaching it to my post. So, please send a PM, Jon.
  16. Situation hasn't changed in 399, sorry: At least not when importing .docx. RTF works fine (except Normal style).
  17. Sean, I've tried what you've said: still an issue In 399 In fact, styles disappear completely if I importing .docx. They do appear, if I import .rtf, except Normal, of course. Seems to be extremly difficult, QuarkXPress used to have the same problem long ago. So, at the moment, the workaround is: Import Word files in RTF only and rename Normal beforhand.
  18. 1.) I'm importing a Word document into APub, containing styles such as Normal, heading 1 and so on. 2.) In APub, all styles seem to have gone. However, the first field in Text Styles pane shows something like heading 1 + ... 3.) I'm choosing Delete all ununsed styles. 4.) The Text Styles pane only shows [No Style] [No Style]. Bottom line: formatting still is there, style names have gone
  19. This bug has not yet been fixes (build ... 384). But it is very important. Furthermore, the whole import of styles seems to malfunction. See my other post.
