I'm sure your sample doesn't have the same ratio at the start and end either.  When you have the crop set to the smallest, it's more like 16:9 or 2:1.  Try cropping to an even smaller rectangle, that's when the inaccuracy is most visible.

Same here. Holding Shift while Crop is set to "Unconstrained" does not maintain aspect ratio as it did in a few previous versions. I also noticed that the hints in the task bar (or whatever it's called at the bottom of the screen) do not show that as a 'hint'. Perhaps they changed this recently. To maintain the aspect ratio, I have to select "Original Ratio" for the Mode. I'd like to see holding Shift maintain the aspect ratio, like it was before.
I'm on a Mac using Ventura.

I'm having the same problem as well. Holding down SHIFT doesn't keep the aspect ratio of the document. It just squishes the crop box for no reason. If I wanted the crop box to be squished, I would do this manually without holding SHIFT. What's the idea behind the current implementation and what purpose does it serve?

Holding down  whilst cropping in the Unconstrained mode constrains the current aspect ratio - Cropping and straightening (affinity.help)
Holding down whilst cropping in the Unconstrained mode constrains the current aspect ratio does not work and holding shift results in a "random" shape. Is this on purpose, is it a bug, or is it just happening on my PC?

In 2.3.1, Ctrl+Z will Undo the creation of the adjustment layer, even while the dialog is open.
If you have adjusted any of the controls in the dialog (tested with Levels, and moving the White Level slider) then in 2.3.1
The first Ctrl+Z reverts the slider change, and The second one removes the dialog and the adjustment layer. In 2.4.0, in the same workflow, Ctrl+Z doesn't do anything.
In both 2.3.1 and 2.4.0, Edit > Undo functions properly.

    Apps: All
    Platforms: macOS, Windows and iPad
Previously when you cycled your selection box this was only a temporary operation. You can now make this permanent...
From the select menu there are two options:
    - Cycle selection box (this was the existing option)
    - Set selection box (the new option)

Also note the shortcut for these - [Full Stop] to cycle and [CMD + Full Stop] to set on macOS and iPad or [Ctrl + Full Stop] to set on Windows.
The new feature is that after cycling to the selection box you want you can now permanently set that for your current selection by using the Set Selection Box command.
In the example below, I have two shapes which are rotated by the same amount. Therefore when they are selected by default the selection box is oriented to match the shape's rotation. Now if I want to permanently make those shapes have a selection box which is oriented to my page I can cycle to regular bounds and then Set Selection Box, which will now make that persist every time I select those items in future.

A couple of other notes on this feature:
As well as cycling to the base box and regular bounds of an object, if you have a grid set which has a different rotation to your page (or, are working on an isometric plane for example) you will additionally get the option to cycle and set the selection box to be aligned with the the current planar bounds of the selection. If you have a multiple selection which includes objects rotated by different amounts, if you wish to set your selection box for all objects in your selection to match the orientation of one of them you can set the one you want to match to be your key object. Then when you cycle your selection box the "base box" option will match that object's rotation.

Within alignment options you will see three new options to make all items in your current selection adopt the same width, height or rotation. By default this will transform all objects to match the first item selected, or alternatively if a key object has been nominated (alt-click) it will use that as the source.
Additionally you can choose to maintain the aspect ratio of the objects being resized.
On desktop this is available via the alignment dropdown:

And on iPad via the alignment options panel which you can get to via the transform panel:

If you’ve purchased from the Affinity Store— each time you start the software it will check for updates and offer to download and install any available update. For the macOS release, in the application main menu there is an option "Check for Updates". Alternatively, you can download the latest installer by logging into the affinity store here and find the order in your account and use the "download" button in there. Updates are installed automatically (or manually by installing the new version over the old) Previous builds do not need uninstalling first. New installations of paid software downloaded from the Affinity Store requires LICENSE ACTIVATION to use.
Software downloaded from the Mac App Store, Microsoft Store and iPad store do not require a license activation and are updated through the relevant store:
If you’ve purchased from the Mac App Store— updates are done automatically next time you run your software after it is available in the Mac App Store. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If this does not happen for you, open the Mac App Store app and go to the Updates page and then Store > Reload page or press CMD+R. This should hopefully force the update to show. Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world which can mean it may take up to 72 hours for your update to be available.
If you’ve purchased from the Microsoft Store— Microsoft Store updates are done automatically by the operating system (each time you start the application). If this does not happen for you, open the Windows Store app and click the three dots in the top right corner of the app and then go to Downloads and Updates. Click Get Updates. This should hopefully force the update to show.
If you’ve purchased from the Pad Store— Your Affinity iPad apps should update automatically next time you run them. However, you do need to be logged in with the same Apple ID you used to buy them. If the automatic update does not happen for you, go to the iPad Store app and go to Updates. Once you’re there, tap near the top of the screen where it states 'Updates' and then hold, pull down and then release. This should manually refresh the updates page. However, don’t contact us if the updates are not available for you yet—Apple sometimes phase roll outs around the world and this can take up to 24 hours.

Alex_M reacted to cgidesign in APh V2 does not support 10bit display output -> limit usability for 16 bit / 32 bit work
APh V2 trial on Window 10.
Nividia GPU is set to 10 bit per channel output.

Monitor supports 10 bit per channel.
    Issue:
Images on the display shows banding in smooth gradients. This somtimes is inevitable in 8bit documents but should not be an issue with 16 bit and 32 bit documents.

Assumption: Affinity does not support 10 per channel output to the display. I consider this being a bug not a feature request, because working with CG and VFX elements (e.g. 32 bit displacement maps for 3d rendering) requires to be see if such a texture has banding issues or not. As Affinity Photo is mentioned to suport 32 bit editing, the limitation to 8 bit output makes it impossible to know, if the banding is in the image data or just a result of the limited output to the display.

Alex_M got a reaction from Funkflow in Make zooming work with CTRL+SPACE instead of SPACE+CTRL
For software to be usable and enjoyable, it must be intuitive. Therefore, it would be immensely useful for us to be able to zoom with CTRL+SPACE, instead of SPACE+CTRL. Our ingrained experience with PCs and our reflexes almost always leads us to press the CTRL button before any other button so pressing SPACE first is counter intuitive. I always copy a layer by mistake because I didn't follow the correct order which for some reason in Affinity Photo is SPACE first, CTRL second. There's no such problem in Photoshop. Making the user stop and think about the order of operations for such a simple task as zooming is poor user experience (UX) design IMHO. I hope this can be looked into and considered for the upcoming update.
