zBernie got a reaction from khanzain in How to highlight multiple layers when recording a macro?
I was trying to record my first macro by following one of the numerous excellent tutorials available. I got to a part where I had to select 2 layers, and was unable to while recording the macro. I dialog box popped up and asked me which layer I wanted to select. But then it only selected that one.
Is it possible to select multiple layers while recording a macro?
-Thanks

I make various adjustments such as filters which produce different results depending on the document size.

Thank you, much better than a batch file!

zBernie got a reaction from NotMyFault in How to select and mask complex objects?
Thank you so much! Last night I tried using channels then creating a pixel selection. I did not use an HSL adjustment to remove the color contamination as you suggested, which sounds like a much better idea! I had a lot of this contamination around the ropes also. Afterwards I did a lot of tedious pixel painting.
Maybe I'd be better off just removing the ropes, then redrawing them with the pen tool. I did something like this a while back with a cat's whiskers I could not mask properly.
Thanks again.

I get to vote? I didn't know this was a democracy.
Thanks again for your help with this, at least I know the nature of the problem.
I was just telling my wife that while working as a Systems Engineer III I considered myself a "bug magnet".

zBernie got a reaction from Ron P. in Exported image different than Affinity Photo edited version
I mentioned in my original post that I've tried merging visible layers, exporting to various formats in including .tiff with "Save Affinity Layers" checked, but nothing has worked. Someone else suggested NOT using a live noise filter, but rather add a pixel layer to add the noise using a destruction noise filter. I'm going to give that a try. I'll let you know how it works out!

zBernie got a reaction from kei in Affinity Photo 1.9 Slow with OpenCL enabled
After updating to AF 1.9.0.932 everything is much slower, from drawing to opening projects. I read another thread which suggested to disable OpenCL compute and when I disable this new feature, AF is much more responsive. Opening an .afphoto project with OpenCL enabled results in a blank canvas being displayed for 10-15 seconds. With OpenCL disabled the same projects are displayed in about 6 seconds. I found this slowness on both my laptop and HP Pavillion desktop. Both are using NVIDIA video cards, which are shown below on Windows 10.
Let me know if any additional information would be useful...

zBernie got a reaction from jmwellborn in How to change the the color of a brown horse to pink?
Actually, I found that her favorite horse is Secretariat, and that she's watched the movie 4 times! I also asked Emily her favorite color, changed the yellow flowers to pink, and wound up with the composite below. Emily (My neighbor's kid) was thrilled to say the least!
But thanks for the unicorn horn anyway! :)

zBernie got a reaction from NotMyFault in Can you create a color palette from a selection?
I wanted to create a color pallet based on the face of a subject in a photo. So I selected the face and saved it to a file, then created the color palette from that file. I thought it would be nice if you could create a color palette from a selection. Is that possible?
I know you can create a color palette from an entire document or an image file, but thought that it would be convenient to be able to created one from a selection. If not please consider this a feature request.

zBernie got a reaction from Mark Ingram in Affinity Photo 1.9 Slow with OpenCL enabled
I haven't found it to be an issue, at least not with any of my projects. I just keep OpenCL unchecked. Part of the problem may be that my computers they are over 4 years old. Ancient in computer time!
Thanks for your help with this.

zBernie got a reaction from Mark Ingram in Affinity Photo 1.9 Slow with OpenCL enabled
Okay, I downloaded the driver and utilities file listed below for both my laptop and HP Pavillion. Oddly, it was the same file even though I selected different download parameters. I ran the NVIDIA installation program and opted to have the old driver removed. The driver on both laptop and Pavillion were updated to the version show in the screen capture below.
The results were similar on both computers, i.e., there was a slight improvement in performance, but performance is still better with the OpenCL option unchecked. One way I tested was to open a fairly complex .afphoto project which takes 16 seconds to load with OpenCL checked. Then uncheck OpenCL, restarted AF, and then it would take about 6 seconds to load the same project. Similar results were obtained with other .afphoto projects as well. Note that I enabled/disabled OpenCL several times and compared the results.
Let me know if I can be of further assistance. I was formerly a Software Engineer and most recently a Systems Engineer III. And a huge Affinity Photo fan!

Never mind, when pasting the photo I then pressed the V key and saw that the pasted photo was selected, but way off center. I could see it in the target photo after resizing it.

zBernie got a reaction from thomaso in How to blend two layers together?
Thanks, I'll give those techniques a try. In the meantime I used the flood select tool and selection brush, then refined the selection. Then used the clone tool to blend it with the water layer below it.
FYI, you may notice some artifacts in the photo, which is due to making this photo have an old appearance. My kid dressed as Huckleberry Finn for Halloween, and I took that photo and placed him on a riverbank. I think I'll add a steam boat after I try your suggestions!
I'm really enjoying learning AF! And the support on this forum is outstanding.

zBernie got a reaction from scrbl in Is Affinity digital asset management application still in the works?
I saw a few threads one dating back to 2015 in which a Serif representative stated that they were working on a DAM app for Affinity Photo. The most recent indicated they were going to complete the Designer app, then the DAM. Can anyone tell me if there are still plans to release a DAM application?
