Thanks for the replies, that solved it. If Affinity is paying attention, changing primary UI based on selection state of the same thing should not change the UI.

I drew a bunch of hexagons in a row. When I select one I get access to its stroke properties, like color. When I select two I can't get access to color anymore. How do I change the stroke color of many polygons selected? See attached screenshots for clarification.
