I'd love to see Publisher export to eBook ready formats. Is that on the roadmap?

hlarledge got a reaction from LilleG in A way to make my list of Brush Categories in Affinity Photo sort alphabetically
Can we get the ability to make our list of Brush Categories in Affinity Photo sort alphabetically?
It would also be nice to have sub-categories or tags to better organize our libraries.

I like the concept of Brush Organisation and it would be a useful feature for Affinity Products

When working with a large number of brushes the current brush panel can become more difficult to manage unless the brushes are organised into smaller categories (which is what I tend to do) or you have an extended Brush Panel!.

Is this one something like you are suggesting?

    Callum,

I think what Keith expressed, several of us regular posters feel.

For months there have been unfounded comments and criticisms levied at Serif, their products and processes through the forum. Many of these have been aggressive, derogatory and unfair. Often originating from ignorance, laziness or frustration.

While I appreciate Serif staff should not react to such provocation, as users and proponents of AP I feel aggrieved that Serif, its staff, processes and products are denigrated without correction, 'punishment' or balance.

Myself, Keith and countless others have assisted as have Serif staff. Several of us have tried to balance the discussion by 'weeding out' the spurious from the genuine, in the absence of proactive and assertive moderation.

Perhaps some consistency in closing down 'unsuitably toned' posts early would be welcomed by all.

I truly hope this helps, as you can see Keith and many other regular posters on these Forums love the product, want its success and are keen to help it become the leader in Photo Editing it deserves to be.

    Regards Paul.

hlarledge reacted to dmstraker in 'Luminosity mask' selection macros
Following on from a previous post, I've created three sets of macros for selecting a part of an image based on five Blend Ranges 'luminosity' curves (nominally called Blacks, Shadows, Mid-tones, Highlights and Whites).

You can download the zip file here (the forum doesn't seem to like zip files, so I put it on my website).

A few points of note (more in the included .pdf file):
The 'Preview' set just cuts out the selection so you can see exactly what is being selected. It also lets you inspect the Blend Ranges curves. The 'Select' set turns this into a selection in the image. The 'Blend' set does the same for adjustments and filters. Curve overlaps are deliberately symmetrical so together they should sum to 100%. All sets include all contiguous combinations, such as 'Blacks+Shadows'.

hlarledge reacted to dmstraker in Curve Blends for 'luminosity masking'
UPDATE: New post including macros here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/38379-luminosity-mask-selection-macros/

I've been experimenting with doing 'luminosity masking' with curves and blend ranges. Here's the result.

Attached is a 'photo' file with three groups - just copy and paste one of these into any photo, either at the top level or as a child. Then open the group and double-click the curve to adjust just the named luminosity range (eg. 'mid tones'). As it's a curve you can also do it selectively by colour.

It works by constraining the blend range on each curve. Click on the cogwheel to see this.

There are three groups because I wasn't sure which way to chop up the spectrum, so I've done three ways: curved, rectangular and triangular. Please do try them and let us know here which works for you.

I tried doing these as macros, but the macro system stopped me doing things like naming adjustment layers and grouping. I guess it's not mature enough yet for such actions. So I resorted to the cut-and-paste method. This forum also doesn't like you uploading .afmacros files (ahem). But if you prefer macros, I've put them on one of my websites here: http://changingminds.org/etc/affinity/Curve%20Blends%20V1.afmacros

This is still in the experimental stage - please let me know what you think.

Edit: Upated version in post below.

Ok. Rebooting the computer, everything worked again. There's still a glitch there somewhere, but at least I can continue working now. Thanks.

I was looking for a way to organize your fonts via windows, where you can have them instead, but put them in folders (you can do this in gimp,I think). but couldnt find anything where you could. But,I did find this handy little font viewer/organizer where is shows all your fonts, lets you make folders and name them so if you have many blocky type you just make a folder for them and its easier to find them then to scroll around lol. you can use fonts you need w/o havin to install every one of them,so if you need a specific type and you can even uninstall any font too,w/o havin to your your os uninstaller.

    Its called Nexus Font Viewer.

If you look closely and compare the two, I believe you can see how I used the following Affinity Photo tools:

I removed minor Noise and corrected the White Balance in the Develop persona, before moving to Photo.

    In Photo, I used:
Selections with Feathering Adjustment Layers with Masks Curves Dodge and Burn (including a Color Dodge layer for hand-painting color adjustments) Lighting (rendering) Perspective Warp (I cut and paste to new layers small parts that might need resizing. It often looks more realistic in smaller areas than using Liquify.) I did not need Liquify here, but I do use it often in Photoshop. This was my first start-to-finish image in AP, but there will be more. I am very happy with the results.

No need for that either. Affinity isn't connected to the cloud so it will not just stop working. You will still have the working product even if the company cease to exists in an instant (fingers crossed it will not happen ;)) and you will be able to export your work to more popular format. Unless of course Affinity will not become most popular format and software by then - to be honest I wouldnt be surprised if that would happen. I mean look what Adobe is doing - cloud, cloud, cloud. Not listening to customers - people are still with them because they have no courage to switch, thinking that work cant be done on other software. I dont like leash on my neck - even virtual. And thats why I appreciate and support Affinity so much. Even name is cooler - Affinity. Versus "CC". :D Future is bright. Cant wait for 1.6 to see what devs has been cooking ;)
