    Make sure .NET is enabled, older versions shouldn't need to be disabled. As the Event Viewer is also showing an error with .NET at the same time, you can download and install the latest .NET version and install using this link (Choose the offline installer, reboot after install) try opening Photo, if the app still doesn't open, check for the following Windows update, if it's installed, uninstall it KB4515384 and try Photo again.

    If the above fails, follow the steps below to remove Affinity from your system and reinstall.

    Right click the Start menu > Apps & Features and uninstall the Affinity apps, once uninstalled do a restart of Windows and check the following locations for any Affinity folders, if so please delete.

    C:\Program Files

    C:\Program Data (You may need to tell Windows to show hidden files, Windows Explorer > View > Options > View > Show hidden files, folders or drives click Apply)

    Windows key + R (Windows Run), type in %appdata% press Enter, if you see any Affinity folder, delete.

    Do another reboot of the system and then run the setup for Affinity again (Right click, run as Admin)

    Finally it works after the reinstall.. Thanks

    It's user choice as to whether they uninstall the update, and many users have reported that uninstalling and then reinstalling the update also fixes the issue.

    Thanks but that didn't work.

    I also noticed in the Task Manager that the AD executable starts to run and then it shuts down.

    AD used to work just fine before installing 1.7.2. - I reinstalled version 1.6.5.123 and now I get the message attached:

    Screenshot - 9_18_2019 , 9_35_36 PM.png

    Any idea what may be causing this then?

    They call it support I have another name for it.
    I to have problems Starting the program after an update and this fear to upgrade is with Photo and designer.
     have a look at the things I tried...

    Sometimes installing a beta will let you run the beta, but not the stable version British Humor?

    Those files show the installation was successful, what point does the app get to when opening?

    Can you check the following.

    - Check anti-virus isn't blocking the app

    - Go to Task Manager and make sure the app isn't already running. End the task if it is and try again (run as administrator)

    - Try running the app from the install location as opposed to the desktop shortcut

    - Right-click the shortcut > Security - ensure you have the necessary permissions (everything should be checked in Allow)

    - Check the Event Viewer for any possible crashes (look for a red circle with a cross in it) in Windows Logs > Application

    Hi There, Thanks for the explanation I tried all and found a I guess for you guys familiar error...

    I would like to point out that I disabled the .Net 3.5 and that didn't work neither.

    If the install is still failing then can you check this location for me:
    %temp%/AffinitySetup

    To get to that location, call up the Run box by holding down the Windows key and tapping the letter R. Copy and paste the above path into the run box and click okay. That should open a folder, which should contain at least 1 other folder. If there are more than one, find the latest one and open the folder, you should see 2 log files, setup.log and setui.log if you can email or PM both of those over to me, I'll be able to advise further.

    The other log file shows the install was successful so I would like the other to compare.

    I included the first attempt and the last attempt, it seems to me that all installs where successful

    SetupUI.log

    Setup.log

    SetupUI.log

    Setup.log

  6. Hi there,

    After update from 1.7.0

    Just as in the previous version I can't start Affinity Photo 1.7.2.
    I did Control Panel > Uninstall a Program > Turn Windows Features on or off turned  .NET 3.5 off but this didn't help.
    Repair doesn't help
    Uninstall, Reboot install doesn't help
    Using the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab didn't help.

    I included a install log.

    Hope to hear from you with a solution

  7. Hi there,

    This morning I was greeted with a New Update window of Affinity Photo.
    I installed this version, but when I start it nothing happens.
    I tried to remove  Affinity Photo from my computer with settings/apps from Windows 10 itself. When I then clicked the affinity-photo-1.7.0.exe filea small window with UPDATE Affinity Photo version was shown. This didn't work either.

    How do I get Photo 1.7.0.380 running on my Windows 10.   Designer works...

    Regards.

    @Forssux,

    you can apply a gradient mask to adjustment layer: just use the gradient tool on the adjustment layer.

    afaik, this technique will blend the gradient into the mask permanently. if you'd like to have a non-destructive gradient, you can use a shape (usually a rectangle) as a vector mask: apply a gradient to the shape and set one of its endpoints' opacity to 0.

    Yes I just saw a movie on Youtube, it's not the same as my former program nor as fast and intuitive,

    See for example HalftonePro here. - Though you can also do your own patterns in AD and export them as SVG if needed. Or just build your own patterns directly in SVG code.

    <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" width="200" height="200" viewBox="0 0 200 200">
      <defs>
        <linearGradient id="Gradient1">
          <stop offset="5%" stop-color="white"/>
          <stop offset="95%" stop-color="green"/>
        </linearGradient>
        <linearGradient id="Gradient2" x1="0" x2="0" y1="0" y2="1">
          <stop offset="5%" stop-color="black"/>
          <stop offset="95%" stop-color="green"/>
        </linearGradient>

        <pattern id="Pattern" x="0" y="0" width=".15" height=".15">
          <rect x="0" y="0" width="20" height="20" fill="green"/>
          <rect x="0" y="0" width="25" height="25" fill="url(#Gradient2)"/>
          <circle cx="25" cy="25" r="10" fill="url(#Gradient1)" fill-opacity="0.5"/>
        </pattern>
      </defs>

      <rect fill="url(#Pattern)" stroke="black" width="200" height="200"/>
    </svg>

    Hi Thank you for the advice, I definitely have a look at the solutions you gave me.
    The code you wrote didn't open in AD or in mapbox but I could see final result fine in chrome.

    Pity it didn't resemble the file I included, but I certainly start messing around with the code itself

    Kind Regards
