Is it planned to store the last settings of the tools so that for the next session you will be able to work with your configurated tools?
It is allways annoying having to  reset the tools to your preference.

The lowly crop tool could use some improvements:
1. For starters: when selecting an aspect ratio - please keep the crop within the image. For example, when I try to crop a 3:2 image in landscape format into a 1:1 square I get a crop that is based on the long edge, horizontal edge, rather than the shorter vertical edge. The crop extends off-screen. So far only mildly annoying: grabbing the handle on the left or right side easily resizes the crop. Worse though: if I decide to switch the crop to "unconstrained" I have to scroll up and down to corral those upper and lover edges of the crop.
2. Most other software recognizes that a 2:3 crop uses the same aspect ratio as a 3:2 crop and adjust the crop accordingly, based on mouse behavior. Affinity is, unfortunately, not smart enough to realize that a user would like to switch from landscape to portrait (or the other way round) while keeping the aspect ratio.
There are plenty of things I like about the crop tool, but these two issues have bugged me for weeks.

Can we expect that tool-settings (last used) will be sticky so that you not have to reconfigurate everything when working on a serias of picture?
In some cases it already exists - but on others like crop , perpective etc. I have to set it every time I use it because I want to use a different setting that I like to use.

The crop menue of PHOTO is still quite confusing , a crop RATIO should not have any "PX"  or other dimensions

Mark, I just deleted some 80 fonts from my PC and now I can open 1.7 and 1.8 beta versions.

I like the idea of saving the last-used setting for crop. Never could understand why this wasn't the default!

@Steps I really hope they reconsider that. Not having those 'sticky settings' is absolutely detrimental to a streamlined workflow.

Having to customise those settings every time you open the app feels almost like if you had to reset all the clocks and watches in your house every time you wake up, rewrite an entire recipe every time you want to make a meal, or recreate an email account from scratch every time you want to send an email. I know those analogies seem weird, but it honestly feels like it's that unnecessary. It's as easy as adding an option in the app preferences that says "Remember Settings" with a toggle box, and give the user the ability to choose what they prefer. So far I've noticed that a lot more people are drawn to sticky settings than not, so I don't understand why they wouldn't consider it.

Yeah, this keeps on bothering me as well - also the fact that my tools keep on getting completely reset (brushes, colors, pressure, etc.) whenever I open a new document. I have "synchronize tools between documents" set which, according to the documentation, should keep my tools settings persistent.

Yes, that's exactly it.
Of course, I couldn't find any settings to change it and that's why I was asking...
When you work in a photographic format and you want to crop a scene, in most cases you want to keep the original format.
In my opinion and experience, it's very rare that people change format or adopt an unconventional format...

At least it would have been convenient to keep the original format or to be able to set any default format.

I come up against this problem every day and I find it more and more painful.
Are there any reasons (that I don't know yet), to keep this kind de parameter ?

I am new to Affinity Photo and am currently using the trial. I hopped on here to see how to set the crop default to Original Ratio because I have to select it EVERY time. I am shocked that there is no feature for this. I hope it will be added soon because this is at the top of my list of editing tools to select, but this shortcoming is a black eye.

Also Mode should be sticky. Actually, it is the most important setting in Crop tool.

Hello. I have the latest APhoto. How can I get the 'original ratio' option selected by default? I am cropping a lot of images and it is a pain to manually select that option every single time. Also when you leave the crop tool, then go back to it, it goes back to the default again.

Is it hard to add button Copy Settings and Paste Settings to develop options?
I want to apply the same setting to other opened RAW for develop.
Would be nice to have option "Copy only changed settings" from all tabs (Basic, Lens, Details etc.)
and "Copy all settings".
I guess it is not hard to copy all raw develop parameters to Clipboard and Paste them to another opened RAW.
 
p.s. Presets are not solution in some cases (and not fast).
I do not want to create preset each time - I want to 1) setup one image parameters 2) quickly copy them to Clipboard 3) Easily paste them to other opened images.

I am so used to have a cancel option for batch processing I was a bit surprised it wasn't there. No loss for me as I was testing it on a backup folder.

There have been a lot of changes to the crop tool in 1.7 (I lost my presets too, and the presets in 1.7 don't work like I need them to either). The way you (and I) used the presets, the new tool wants to be set to "unconstrained", which in 1.7 wont let you save as a preset.  Hopefully they are working on it, but If you need things to work like before, you may have to roll back to 1.6.5, which I plan on doing for now since I have some jobs coming up and I need it to just work!
I wish we could install them side by side, because other than this, the performance of 1.7 is quite good.  Note: Any afphoto file you save in 1.7 cant be edited by older versions, keep that in mind if you roll back.

I think a bug from 1.7.0.258 has returned, I just upgraded from 1.6.5 to 1.7.2, and recreated a few crop presets that arent carried over during the upgrade, but none of them actually do anything.  This is a repeat of the bugs reported in these threads:

Hello everybody,
the updating the new Beta 443, will be completed successfully.
But the new beta will not start, also no start with administration rights. A complete deinstallation and reinstallation does not solve the problem.
This applies to photo as well as to designers.

Hi @all,
I downloaded the new Beta Versions of Photo and Designer and if i start them, the Logo will be shown and then the Apps closing by itsself.
 

2019-08-03-15-32-02.mp4 I made a Restart of my System, but that doesn´t help.
I wanted to check out the new Features, but if the App not starts.. i can´t

I also add search tags and put every video into a playlist or two. And I've plans to do a separate web page on one of my sites with a more readable segmentation.
