  1. Just came across this new feature that Adobe has added to PhotoShop.  Is this something that can be added to Affinity in a year or two (I use this length of time because I know development would take months of hard work)?  This looks pretty amazing.

Super Resolution builds on a technology Adobe launched two years ago called Enhance Details, which uses machine learning to interpolate RAW files with a high degree of fidelity, which resulted in images with crisp details and fewer artifacts. The term ‘Super Resolution’ refers to the process of improving the quality of a photo by boosting its apparent resolution,”

  2. Yes, I still have a working copy of PhotoImpact.  Corel discontinued it but it is available from a new developer called Nova Development.  I stopped using it when I made the switch to Affinity.  The problem is UFO files, like aphoto and psd, contain layers and I don't want to loose those or their attributes.  I used PI for over 15 years, so that's probably three years of not stop opening and saving ... LOL With AP offering support for other formats I wouldn't think this would be too hard from Serif to bust out in an update.

  3. Great thinking adding this feature.  In the next update could you be as so kind to enhance this feature by adding the "Description/Caption" and "Keyword" fields.  It would be an attractive feature for photojournalists (like me) who use it.

While on the IPTC topic, if you could also add a copy and paste function for IPTC data, that would equally awesome.

    Thanks!

P.S. - I think I'll really like new update if I can RAW images to open in it.  It seems the RAW processor is even faster than below.

In case it's relevant (as I'm not sure of your exact workflow) you need to view your document at 100% zoom when making many adjustments if you want to see the true effects. If you're viewing at a lower zoom level you won't see the true effects. I believe this applies to sharpening, too.

That is true if the image you are processing is 100% or near that of the native resolution of the monitor you are working on.  If the pixel dimensions are twice the screen resolution then visually making adjustments at 50%. Hope that makes sense.

  5. I have a similar issue.  When I sharpen a Canon RAW file, it sharpens fine in the develop persona.  FYI - in earlier builds it would sharpen and then go to the default appearance on the screen unless you held the mouse down and dragged the image to a new location on the screen.  Then, the sharpening would disappear again.  As with @GettingIT was experiencing, when I convert Canon RAW files I have to sharpen and denoise high ISO again after it is converted ... at least so it looks correct on the screen while working AP.  However, when I save the jpg and open it in another application, the image is oversharpened to the point I get fine line halos.  It appears the sharpen settings are being written to the file but not to the monitor output.

  6. Hi MEB.

I paid for the full version. When I open Affinity Photo for Windows a message appears that says a new version is available with the options 'OK' or 'Download'. When I click download it takes me to a page that gives me the option to download version 1.5.1.

I was able to download it today. But now you have given me a moment to pause before installing it. Is this a valid upgrade?
