  1. Ok, that works perfectly, thanks again! I really appreciate it. I need to spend some quality time looking at the tens of thousands of YT's out there.
  2. Also, another simple question, how do I pin these floating windows to the program?
  3. That's amazing!! I can't believe it was going to be that easy. Thank you. How do I ensure it's a Pixel layer? And, what if it's on a black background? Thanks so much!
  4. Hi, now I know I'm less than a rank amateur. I've had this program on my iMac for a while now and since I'm so busy I don't have time to properly learn it. I'd have to give up most of the things in life in order to spend every waking minute to learning this cool program. So I need this Santa image but with all the white space removed. I watched a YouTube and followed along and got it only partly right as there were parts missing. He said to use the selection brush tool and despite many times at adding and subtracting I still only get a partial image with the white removed. Is there another way? A friend said I could use a mask? No idea how to do that either. Can anyone tell me what I need to do or direct me to a good YT on what I need to do? Here's the image. Thanks for any help.
  5. WOW! You guys are true master at this! I wish this video was a little slower but it's awesome. I never in a million years expected this kind of excellent help and I REALLY appreciate it! Thank you so much.
  6. Brilliant! Thank you! And how did you cut out one face like that? And when I modify the original and save it, will it still be .png? Thank you for your excellent help!
  7. Ok, I'm finally home and have a chance to upload what 'm talking about. The first capture shows all the "parts" I can use to create a character in Comic Strip Factory. I run CSF, select one part and export it as a .png file. Then I import it into Affinity Photo by dropping it on the icon on my iMac. It opens and this is the hideous result. Now, these are "masked" files so I need to modify the original, not layers and then it has to be exported as a .png file. I have no idea how I did this with the paint bucket as I was fumbling around and accidentally colorized it. Here's a CSF file that is already colorized, it's in the new CSF. I would like to somehow match his skin color for Sasha and other characters. Like with an eyedropper thing maybe? I'm so new at this so I apologize in advance if I'm confusing. Thanks so much, Jack
  8. Thank you all! I will put something together to show you what I'm trying to do later today as I have to go out right now. But I very much appreciate your help!
  9. I'm working with Comic Strip Factory to make comics and despite it having several characters to work with there's not enough for me. So the creator of it (David Durkee) allows users to use the original black and white characters. They're on a sheet full of various heads, torsos, arms, legs, you get the idea. But they're all black and white. David told me how to select one body part, say a head, and export it as a .png file and then drop it into Affinity Photo which I own. So I did this. Now, I know for me this is a very steep learning process and I have so little time in real life to learn it. What I'm trying to do is copy in these images or parts one at a time and colorize them and re-export them so I can use them in new comics. But how do I do this? I tried after much hit and miss with the paint bucket and colorized a face but it was like I said, a hit or miss thing because I really don't know this program like all of you people. Is there an easy way to do this and is there a tutorial on how to do this? I can post files for examples to show you what I'm trying to accomplish. Many thanks. Jack
  10. Hi, it's been a very long time since I've been here. I'm working with Comic Strip Factory to make comics and despite it having several characters to work with there's not enough for me. 11. Thanks James. I really appreciate your help. It may not be the greatest comic but I like making them.
  12. You bet James, as soon as I get the chance it's all I'm going to be doing. I need to drop what I'm doing and hit the book and videos not to mention the tutorials in the book. Man, I really appreciate it. Best regards, Jack
  13. This is perfect too! I like them both but I didn't see your thumbnail. How can I get it without the words? Thanks a lot!
  14. Thanks James! This was what I was looking for! :) Gosh, I really appreciate it, I wonder now how you did it. I could not be happier! I also use Dropbox if that will help.
  15. Hi again James, I tried messing with the image but was unsuccessful as I really have no idea what would be the easiest way. I need something real fast. Do you have any recommendations as to exactly what tool and what steps I could take to just make it look distorted, kind of like a swirl on the image or something? Step by step, something simple? Thanks.
  16. Wow! I'll be sure to look at those YT's! Yes, the Affinity vimeo videos. I love them! They're short and easy to follow and one builds on the last. I have a lot to do that's for sure. I'm so busy I feel like a one-armed wallpaper hanger so it's tough to drop everything and focus on learning one program. But, I have to tell you, it's one of the best programs I have ever used.
  17. Well after watching the videos, especially the first in the series this is a greta idea. After what I've seen I think I can handle something like this. This is what I needed, an idea of how and where to start James, thank you. I appreicate it. And you're right, it will take all my free time to get a handle on this as I'm a writer and comic maker, not a grpahics artist. But I can learn.
  18. Hi James and thank you for your fast reply. In fact, I'd like the entire screenshot distorted, something like it's going through a wormhole in space. I do have a lot to learn but I thought someone would give me help with selecting the filters or layers or tools I need, something like a mini step-by-step do this kind of thing. I don't even know where to begin, I mean I don't know what tool would be best for the job. It has to look like the pilot flew through another dimension or something, I just want to make it look like something dramatic happened. Then the next few panels will lead to the punchline. Thanks James.
  19. Hi, I bought this program a while ago and love it, also bought the book but because of a lot of other commitments I haven't had a chance to learn it 100% yet. I'm no graphics designer, I just make silly make comics for people. So can anyone please give me a quick lesson on how to create an effect with this screenshot of how to make it look like the plane is going through some time warp, something where it's stretched out or going into a time tunnel or some kind of look like that? I watched almost all the videos but couldn't find anything like that effect. Many thanks to all who wish to help. Jack
