InfoCentral got a reaction from soterios in Affinity Designer vs. Inkscape
If you want to animate then Inkscape can save in the Synfig file format.
How to Import Inkscape Project to Synfig

InfoCentral reacted to iconoclast in Type faces and fonts limitations
FontBase is linked to Google Fonts by design. So, no matter what fonts you will install in the FontBase Library, you will already have some nice fonts in it. I like it very much. I'm on Windows too, and I had some really bad problems with having installed too many fonts on my system in the past.

There is a reason why corporations seek a subscription model and it isn't consumer benefit.

InfoCentral reacted to planlos in AI Background removal
Would be great if you could add an automatic AI background remove / mask. There are lots of online tools which create good results for removing background. Would be a gamechanger if afinity allows it as well

InfoCentral reacted to xanathon in Conversation on ePub in Affinity Designer (split)
Why is there still no epub export? Professional use of Designer is not possible without this feature. Come on, it's 2021, the standard is over two decades old now ...

InfoCentral reacted to Prouvé in Magazine Template
I thought I would share a magazine template with the forum. It's a fairly basic style, but could be a good starting point for anyone needing to produce a magazine.
The template only includes placeholder images to keep the file size small, but you can take a look at a populated demo online by clicking THIS LINK.
Any feedback or suggestions would be gratefully received.
Fonts required for the template are:
Avenir Next and PT Sans Narrow. Both font families should be available for free download.

Flip PDF can render to Flash, HTML5 or both. If you specify both, you have the option of specifying a preferred order. Given the redundancy of Flash, I only use the HTML5 publishing option with an additional basic HTML version for Search Engines. There are also options to output as self contained EXE and APP files as well as plugin files for Wordpress, Joomla and Drupal. Output from any Affinity app can be used as input files, so pages can be made in Photo, Designer or Publisher and then exported to the popular image formats or PDF.

I would take a look at Synfig Studio. It's FREE and it fits nicely into the current Affinity pipeline.

InfoCentral reacted to Moddo in Affinity Designer can't visualize character movement? (video sample)
Nowhere in Affinity Designer can I find character-level letter manipulation anywhere. I don't mean the Character - Positioning and Transform table. This is suitable for normal kerning, although still a very clumsy and slow way.
I want the possibility of horizontal and vertical shift of the character in Artistic Text Tools. Just like I show in the video.
Is this possible in AD? And I don't mean conversion to curves.
Because if he can't make such a small change for a few seconds, I'll do it relatively uncomfortably and for a long time.
The source is from Corel and I understand I'm soaked with it (25 years of work). Affinity has many perfect techniques and ways, but I haven't worked out this basic technique for me.
Thank you very much for your guidance and answers.

I thought it would be out with the Beta of Publisher but it can be released anytime between now and the official release of Publisher.

Thank you for your prompt reply and fix. I made the changes and indeed that corrected the problem. Of course the pdf is another issue.

I use the industry standard Camtasia Studio myself although it certainly isn't the cheapest way to go.

InfoCentral reacted to - S - in Any other Windows user feeling slightly ignored after Affinity Live presentation??
I thought the same. When watching Microsoft videos, I see them use Macs, IOS devices, Android devices, Linux, Chrome, Alexa. To me this makes sense; if you're providing a product or service that uses those platforms, why wouldn't you talk about them and include them in the presentations.
With the Metal segment, as far as I'm aware Metal is just a graphics API like DirectX 12 or Vulkan. So I don't understand why they wouldn't include a comment that they're also currently working on off-loading more to the GPU in Windows too—but that it's going to take longer to implement due to the larger variation of devices/GPUs/drivers that they need to consider. It seemed a bit odd to completely ignore a large chunk of their user base throughout the keynote as if they didn't exist.

InfoCentral reacted to manuG in Any other Windows user feeling slightly ignored after Affinity Live presentation??
That is very misleading. Mac runs on the same X86 / AMD64 architecture as Windows these days, Mac only featuring Radeon GPUs while Windows can have both AMD and NVIDIA GPUs. On Windows there's fleshed out and well documented APIs, e.g. CUDA that have been around for almost a decade now. I felt exactly the same as OP after seeing the video this morning. For a while now Serif seems to focus on the shrinking Apple-market (while most creatives these days are feed up by ever-growing prices with decreased specs from that company) - not sure why that is. I said it in another topic and I repeat again: I'd be more than happy to pay more to get AP / AD stable and well performing on Windows, I need it in my daily work, as of now it's mostly in my way and has been replaced partly by other software. This launch is a big disappointment to me, some performance issues are even worse than before and I doubt the answers I get here: "cannot reproduce" - sure, right.

I don't think it was the platform used but the platform that wasn't mentioned that is of concern.
