PDF to big
larsh replied to larsh's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi, the JPG are smaller (2.200 px long side) as in the big version. They come from C1 with 8 bit. No parameter is changed to the big book which runs fine; I made around 15 this year in 120 pages/ 60 pics. Now it has 250 p./ 115 pics. I included the pics, sfpub 350 MB, put the afpub to another folder, set pics to added and deleted the pics. Afpub has 11 MB, makes a PDF. The pics back (what works), PDF 662 MB as before. Thanks for help, thomaso. ©LarsHennings.de-ABuch-19-kl3-7.pdf ©LarsHennings.de-ABuch-19-kl3.afpub -
Hi, I made a book, 250 pages, a pic each 2. page, from 30x30 cm smaller to 20x20 cm. After the first small PDF became more than 800 MB – the 30x30 PDF has 550 MB – all 120 pics were made smaller (from 3.000 px long side to 2.200) and new included. But the PDF 300 dpi has 660 MB now. To save the big PDF runs normal, the small one takes many many time. All pics in the big version have together 550 MB, the afpub file 13,6 MB; all smaller pics have 300 MB, the file 11,4. What happens here? How to save this project, please? Thx. lars EDIT: I made the masterpage smaller

change size book incl. pics?
larsh replied to larsh's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
I changed all pics from the 1. edition now down to 320 dpi. But it makes PDF very very slow in 300 dpi and takes 660 MB now. The greater book runs up to 540 MB PDF as before in a short time. Any Idea? I need it less then 500 MB. Thx. -
change size book incl. pics?

New problem. The book 30x30 has 540 MB (250 p. 1 pic every); the small one has 760 MB. Is there a way to make the pics smaller and include them in the afpub with auto? -

change size book incl. pics?
larsh replied to larsh's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Hi, I did not understand that enough. But for my pics now (nearly) all have frames in the masterpage I can change this and the pics follow after changing margins and frames. Some must change by hand and the text too. It is a way. Some frames as footlines and pages nr. are outside the new 21x21 cm. I can´t handle them. OK, can do it again and delete them in the master and make them new in the small one. Thx to both, lars -
change size book incl. pics?

Hi, thanks, it´s done: 1. a new Afpub file 250 pages 21x21 cm, 2. the command: platzieren and choose the bigger PDF (540 MB), 3. the first page could be set, 4. the new one in old dimensions could moved smaller to the new page, 5. the hole page included the pic and text changed. But not more. I deleted and reloaded the new afpub – the same: only p 1. I did the same on p. 3 but then the p. 1of the old pdf was set on this p. 3 again... The new afpub is 900 MB now. Is there a mistake in my doing? lars -
Hi, is there a way a finished book as pdf, loaded in Afpub (30x30 cm), change to 21x21 cm included the pics and text smaller? Thx. lars

Hi, I found the 300 dpi file (...2777.jpg). May be you can see something; it is made with the X-E1 (if interested I will find the RAW/RAF). Reg. lars

No, I didn´t know about the 72 dpi. Even blurb.de takes and printed it (and I did not see it; shame). All this work (15 books) is done with Capture one plus and only RAW/ RAF from Fuji X-Pro2. The export is long side 3.000 px and 300 dpi. Then AfPub as I told you; all fine as the new one what is just started. Sometimes I need a 72 dpi for the web; most this is done by mac preview. No mind how it could happen. I don´t want to download it; please delete it. And many thanks for help. lars

The ZIP is gone, the 72 dpi file: larshennings.de-11-14_DSF2777.jpg Hi Gabe, there are made around 15 books like this, starting with AFPublishers Beta. Never a big problem, allways the same Mac OS. Best, lars

May be I found it. There was a to small pic in 72 dpi. I deleted it. And I changed all pics from added to included, saved and moved it to another folder in what the pics are ans set it back to added. Then it runs, but don´t used it very long. Ja, it is a little confused... i don´t need it actuall.

Hi, I copied a folder back to the mac and an .afpub from another folder to this one including the images. It is to start but by moving the pages Afpub crashed (several times), and it crashed by saving a PDF. After creating it it works fine as all the others. Is there a way to check the .afpub file? Thx. lars

add Master and every 2. page?
larsh replied to larsh's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Hi, Thomaso, I only see "Master-Seiten", not: apply master, not the rows below, where to find? Thx. lars -
Hi, there was load a PDF (600 MB out of another system; works). Shown was in the browser every page as single with a pic, not double layout p.; no master. I did all by hand now (and got a PDF 390 MB). But is there a better way? Every 2. page should be added (all left pages, to get all pics to the right side). I made a master with a textframe with page nr. and this textframe is copied to all right pages (set the nr. in the middle of the margins (works). Then after every (old) page with a pic was copied a new master (works). 1.) Is there a way to add to all pages (l+r) a master? EDIT2: It looks like that with setting double pages both left and right are master pages now (where I only made the left pages a master). Or making a double layout page? EDIT1: that is done! in page menue. 2.) Can every 2. page added with one process? Thx. lars

Hi, using the image table (tools) to get pics out from only one folder; therin is the .afpub too. Would be fine to see in the ressource manager ALL images included in this folder. So one could 1. see which pics are NOT used. And 2. to delete them in the rm. Hope to the next rev. Thx. lars

image frame in layer
larsh replied to larsh's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Hi, there is a little help. As you, Thomaso, want to show me long ago now I use an image frame in the master page now. Learning by doing. Then it is possible to activate on each page this frame AND to click: change image. So the image will be set into the frame exact. In former time I moved the image from the image site (getting with the tool: little image, in mac: Finder). The image was set into the margins then, BUT it must moved to to exact mass. The image name was seen all the time. Now I activate the frame (master) and get the image from the image site without setting the mass (it is done). The name is not seen. BUT cmd-click to the image/ frame changes the frame from the master site to the other frame (which is to manipulate with the blue points) AND opens the picture name. Better would be to see the name always. Reg. lars -
Hi, if using image frames then in the menue: layer the frame is shown following a little arrow. To see the name of the included image this arrow must clicked. Is there a way to set this arrow always down to show the pics name? Or can the name shown in the blue field from the frame without to click? Would be easier to change a pic if one see which pic is looked for. Thx., lars

OK, textframe in text?
larsh replied to larsh's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi, I saw now, what I asked for is possible. Thanks! I will try later to understand. Reg. lars PS: it was my file and it is a new one working. -

Hi Walt. No, it is my own file in which I tried to use the artistic frame. The backup file works. Is there a way to read out the text from this damaged file? Thx. lars -

Afpub is broken now. Restart mac does not help. Is there a file to delete to start it new? It starts, a moment later it is gone... May be the only file .afpub is this one v457... I deleted it now. All the same. -
OK, textframe in text?
larsh replied to larsh's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Hi, Tomaso. That´s not I want to ask. If text is written in the pinned frame it should look as attachment 0. (why it is marked more than the frame?) If then the page 13 is moved to 103 the pinned frame is to small and an empty place comes up (att. 1). So, this frame must be set big enough to take: (S. 103). But then the first position (13) has a distance to the following text (att. 2) as long as the pinned frame is. A dynamic pinned frame should become bigger itself if the page is moved and the number grows and the following characters should be moved too. Hope it is explained ok now. Is there a mistake in what I see? Nice day, lars PS: (artistic frame etc. I didn´t find even in the english menue). To set the new page number by hand is terrible if very often to do. -

Wounderful, hide in STUDIO. Is there a way to make the pinned frame dynamic, so that it grows if the page number grows? To think one has to do this all 100 times or more... Happy day! Best, lars
