  1. and even if sync was off for a while it should become normal after killing the instance and pulling it out again, which is weird because it doesnt. btw from the hint I got in your other post it seems that the text frame of 2 text objects is out of sync for some reason.
  2. well I remote both (aka all) instances of the symbol and I only have one on each artboard so I think I am doing it right. and know what is what. but honestly I havent turned off the sync button while doing anything except one time for testing but ofter that I kicked it on again removed the symbol instances and added them free from the panel
  3. affinity seems to have some nice indicators for layers, objects or whatever you may wanna call it, with one of the most prominent being the symbol desynced orange marker, although I dont know what the others are. one awesome function to make easy to know what they want without always having to look stuff up, would be some nice tooltips to tell what this is about and maybe even a way to resolve this (or a link to the appropriate help section.
  4. but I have something weird. the dashed layer still seems to be fully in sync (e.g. color changes on the dashed layer carry over) and I have another symbol where both instances aer orange but show literally no layer marked by a dashed line. stuff gets weirder because even when I delete the instance and drag a new symbol in, the dashed layers stay dashed.
  5. well I click myself into this discussion. Honestly M$ is slowly but definitely getting annoying with its more or less recent paths, especially in windows 10, right now I am still enjoying popcorn and Ice Tea while laughing about it but unless MS Seriously reverts some policies I am going to look for a new OS. and it would be sad having to drop designer.
  6. oh okay. well than it makes some sense. but could you maybe something inside affinity to get this working for everyone?
  7. and windows is out of the loop, no surprise here. will at least the future hold something?
  8. one thing that would be even more awesome is if you could create your own compact UI, with less stuff, being able switch to that with tab and use F11 (which is pretty much the common shortcut for fullscreen in a lot of software) for true full screen
  9. I kinda happened to notice something in the open dialog of designer. it says to open two filetypes: afdesign and afphoto, but on the website it's stated that they use one "Common Affinity file format", but why then 2 different extensions?
  10. too bad that this would be raster based, a vector based lensflare in designer would be pure awesome. because aith a raster based lensflare and importing it into designer I can also use Gimp (which I've use a long time, so I know my ways there, although there's it's called the Gradient Flare.).
  11. May I ask why this wont be a thing in affinity? I mean is it bad to design something with a nice lens flare? especially with the designer being a vector software that's nice to use it's even more awesome because you can scale and render it at any resolution you like, and even better with the export persona (which I began to use mroe recently).
  12. okay this feature is awesome (as soon as you find out how to create a symbol :-) ) especially nice is that the affinity team thought a bit and lets the user essentially just select a layer group and make that into an icon instantly Thanks.
  13. now I am confused. can you please explain? I am not really a pro with affinity.
  14. I hang myself into here and agree that some mroe options for noise (like the size of the grains)
  15. There are some things which always are the same on every artboard. wouldnt it be possible to allow linking those so changes that occur to one of them directly get mirrored to the other one?
  16. that is, if Windows 8 has that Desktop bridge too. if not, it woould be w10 only.
  17. Seemingly the Euro prices got a hike as well... did apple also change our prices scale? that's annying, it's 5€ more expensive well regarding the hosting and legal things about selling I dont see the problem. it's not much different than selling the windows software, which also happens directly, the only real problem would be DRM. also if they just ax the apple store completely this means they neither have to pay a yearly fee, not the 30% from every puchase, meaning they either can get more money or make the price lower, and the best, the windows users dont have to essentially pay more just because affinity uses the Mac Store.
  18. well one problem to start is that a winstore version wont run on win7. also a UWP piece of software wont run on win8.1 either. axing any of those 2 is in my opinion not a good Idea because both are still in support and Windows 10 still is a piece of problematic software where drivers can fail and a lot of other funny stuff can happen with their system of 2 big updates per year. and to top it off, you need an MS account for the Win Store which has its implications, especially if it still behaves like back when I tried the Win10 Store the first time, where it wanted to convert your whoole user account into a Windows account, in comparison Win8 let me the option of setting up the MS account only in the store which is way less problematic. and at the very least I trust microsoft not a bit, especially with their recent path of win10s and even going as far to say it's the "soul" of win10, and having a full lockdown, honestly builds a scary image of the FUture of windows in my Mind at the very least.
  19. as said I have nothing against the policy, jist with the wording on the site of affinity photo/designer.which can be slightly misleading
  20. well even though the whole update vs upgrade is something people deeply involved with computers should know, the problem is that not everyone is that deeply involved in computers and then again on mac, which is a major platform on affinity, to be exact affinity started on mac (for whatever reason) and ever since 10.6 or whatever all updates/upgrades/whatever were completely free. and even though version 2 will be a new version it will still be "affinity designer" or "affinity photo" so the phrase "all updates completely free" can be misunderstood. I have nothing against the practice, it is very understandable and makes sense, you pay for a major version and get all minors included. but advertising language tends to be confusing, sometimes even intentional, although I think (and really hope) that this isnt the case here. if it would have said something like all updates in version 1.x are free it wouldnt be confusing anymore (and with a link to the roadmap it would be even better since people get quickly to see what present and future features they are paying for without having to search)
  21. wait a sec I smell something weird. in the worst case you may get yourselves sued for false advertising because: https://affinity.serif.com/de/ui-design-software/ at point 15 it says and I quote: that quote by Callum doesnt sound like "all future updates completely free". the english version sounds a little bit less boasting about the updates, but still says that updates are included, with no stars or footnotes or anything
  22. no problem, we all want affinity to get better. btw, when I checked on my laptop the tooltip was seemingly less wide (more entries on the second row), I think windows automatically constrains anything to the monitor size or whatever.
  23. well as the title already says, how about adding a few line breaks in here. as you can see from the attachment, the filetype tooltip is wide enough to span one screen alone, but due to the positioning of the tooltip you are never actually able to see all the filetypes that affinity can open, but that would be helpful information imo. so it would be nice adding a few line breaks in here to make that easier. thanks.
  24. kinda sad, especially since there's probably theoretically not that much work since the pdf was (probably) made in AD, at least that would make sense. I hope it will come someday.
