Hey tuxoche, welcome to the Affinity Forums. I grabbed two Canon 5D Mk II samples and they are opening the same in Affinity Photo and Photoshop. See screenshot at the bottom. What do you normally open them in? Could you attach a sample so I can look into this for you? Also, have you changed any of the settings in the Assistant manager?

I responded to this thread 20 hours ago. We are responding to as many threads as we physically can. The developers are already working fixes and we've already got a Mac beta out. We can only apologies for those affected by the update and we are working as hard and as fast as we can to put it right.

Is Metal compute enabled in Preferences > Performance?

Some of the filters and adjustments have been rewritten for 1.7. Is there something you are unable to achieve in 1.7 that you could in 1.6?

I'm not sure what we are planning on doing. Development are obviously very aware about this and how many users it has affected.

As far as I know the only change in 1.7 that should really be affecting brushes is Metal compute. Some people have found turning it off helps and other have found that having it on increases performance. MarkPM, if you've disabled Metal compute and it has made no difference, it might help to get more info about your machine. There is a new beta that you can install alongside the newly updated 1.7 release that has some fixes in it. I would encourage you to install it and follow the updates:

Hey William Allen, The only thing that I know of that changed regarding plugins is that we now deliver an ICC profile. It would seem a lot of plugins have stopped working as a result. I must make it clear that we only officially support two plugins from the Nik collection. However, I believe we intend to look into this as it has affected a lot of our users—despite the plugin not officially being supported.

Hey CKC Studios, welcome to the Affinity Forums What crop settings are you using? Does it even matter? It seems OK for me but I may be missing something. I don't seem to have an issue dragging from Photos. I don't get any kind of cursor change to suggest I can drop it into Affinity but it works...

I got an instant crash doing both methods. I was using the Denoise Live Filter both times but it doesn't seem to matter which one I use, it still crashes. I caught this with adjustments a while back but didn't think to check filters at the same time. Logged to be looked at—thank you.

Hey D23, Was this when you were opening 1.6 files in the updated 1.7 or had they previously already been opened and saved in 1.7?

Hello all, I'm sorry you've been having these issues. We know of an issue where doing the five-finger pinch gesture to return to the Home screen can cause the app to severely lag when you return to it. If this is the gesture you commonly use, please give it a go and let me know. I've also been informed by a colleague that there can be a severe delay (approx 5 secs) between putting the Apple Pencil on the screen to draw and it appearing. This can happen on a document as small as 4000 px x 4000 px in RGB8 and 16. That was reported against a 9.7 pro (2016). @frankthechicken - I have just created a 16000x8000 px document on 1.7 and can indeed reproduce this. I then made the same size document on an older iPad running 1.6 and saw no such delay. I will speak with dev.

Hi Thomas, Development have asked me to get a file from you that you are having issues with. We are trying to establish if the issue you are experiencing with Metal compute enabled is more related to what is in the file, such as a combination of raster and vector data so we can see how this is being passed back and forth between the CPU and GPU. I've made a private Dropbox folder for you to upload a file into.
