  1. Hadn't even thought of that. You're right, if I can get Japanese dots working then this might be a good approach... Will give it a go. Good thinking Batman.
  2. I bet it's already looking better since you liberated it from the grip of the devil's own software.
  3. Yikes. Too much tinkering for me. Mind you, I've never owned a Windows PC – if I did, I'd probably be tempted to overwrite the OS as well – I tried W8 once and it gave me a migraine.
  4. Haha nah I've honestly never heard of Pear OS. That was just my crap sense of humour manifesting
  5. Why didn't they warn us? Because those guys were on the inside... https://youtu.be/L6iynaLC5sY https://youtu.be/Kxa0Okk1rp0
  6. Thanks George! @Peter – agreed. This is character animation at its most brilliant and minimal (I own all of these on DVD, natch) https://youtu.be/41aGCrXM20E
  7. @David, no magic bullet here, just keep your textures on separate layers and lock them when not in use. Otherwise yeah, you end up selecting all the little circles by accident.
  8. Some more messing about while I wait for "real" jobs to come in.
  9. So I'm on a 5K iMac quad core i7 with 32gb ram. And to be fair to the computer (and Serif) I haven't really had any performance issues at all. I haven't really played around with halftone brushes.. maybe I should! I guess I prefer to stay with vectors as much as possible so I'm not locked to a particular resolution. I already have my next piece in mind, though, and I might give the brushes a go, just for the sake of learning :)
  10. ...by copying and pasting loads of tiny dots and crossing your fingers that your computer doesn't burst into flames
  11. Your wish is my command. Ugly-ass wireframe enclosed...
  12. Another experiment in lo-fi effects. AD more than holding its own at this point, despite me probably pushing my luck with file complexity :D
  13. I've never played the game but this is very cool indeed.
  14. How is the iPad version coming along? Any chance you'll have one ready in time for the iPad Pro / Apple Pencil launch? I think that would be almost life-changing :)
  15. Thanks, I'm thinking of getting a bunch printed up, you'll be first on the list. Flattery gets you everywhere ;)
  16. Agreed. Adobe have forgotten the fundamental principal, that people should want to use your product, not feel like they have no choice. That's partly what I love about Affinity Designer. It reminds me of a time when software was exciting.
  17. Schools are using Fireworks??? WTF. I guess they're on a budget.
  18. Actually not that long, just created grids of dots using smart-duplicate and then pasted the resulting groups into other objects. That said, can't wait for AD to get a proper pattern-fill feature. Will improve my workflow considerably *hint hint* ;)
  19. Yeah I can see how Painter wouldn't be suited to Charley Harper style pieces. Never got the hang of it myself. I love vectors. This is really nice btw :)
  20. I took my cues for this from old-school animation (everything I do is kinda old-school) – a lot of what I referenced was in a book called Cartoon Modern, which I recommend for anyone who is a fan of golden-age animation and/or the design of the 50s/60s. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cartoon-Modern-Design-Fifties-Animation/dp/0811847314/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1446900681&sr=1-1&keywords=cartoon+modern
  21. I dunno if that's good or bad, but thanks!
