  1. Many thanks for that info. I'm going to try that with my Pen-F tomorrow.
  2. ??? I thought that those HighRes Raw files from Olympus cameras could only be processed by the Olympus Viewer? Are you saying that APh can also process those RAW files that contain the data for the 8 half-pixel shifted images? That would be really surprising but wonderful if that is so.
  3. Many thanks, Kodiak. I do use Capture One, but I only have the Pro version for Sony, cannot use that with my .ORF files. The shoot I did was for a club demo of focus stacking with APh and I was pleasantly surprised to find, just now, that the focus merge feature will open my RAW (DNG) files directly. They don't have the common adjustments applied of course, but that's OK for this demo. This is a really responsive forum. Thanks again
  4. I've only had APh for a couple of weeks (windows version) and this morning needed to use it with a batch of 50 or so RAW files from a shoot. Typically there are a few corrections that can be applied to all RAW files from a shoot . This is very straightforward in, and a vital part of, Photoshop's ACR. So I assumed that it would be just as easy in APh, But I could not find any way to process these 50 images in APh Please could someone tell me what I am missing here. Many thanks
  5. I've only had AP for a couple of weeks and this morning needed to work on a batch or RAW files from a shoot. I could see a tab of each opened image and the tab of the current image was highlighted with slightly lighter tone of grey. I did have to Use Views/ Show context toolbar to see the cancel develop button. I did have another issue, but I'll report that in a separate thread.
  6. I was thinking about the toxic chemicals and ventilation issues. I made a UV box for the polymer photogravure work but gave it away when other costs became too great. Many thanks
  7. Many thanks for that video, it's very tempting but not very realistic to try that in a small apartment :-) But it brought back some fond memories of making a polymer photogravure print two years ago and I think I still have Dan Burkholder's book somewhere. Many thanks
  8. So we are dealing with similar sized files. I just cancelled my subscription to Photoshop CC 2017 but was able to run one test before the subscription cancellation took effect. . It was faster than AP, loading a 50 MB DNG file in about 2-3 secs. The same file in AP took 8 secs to load. Longer yes, but not enough difference to bother me. It will get better as AP matures, it's just a novice on the block right now. Not sure if all this is of any help to you, but hope it is.
  9. I did give the camera model Olympus Pen-F it's a 20 MPixel sensor and the proprietary .ORF Raw files are between 40MB and 50MB after conversion to DNG using the Adobe DNG converter. The Olympus cameras do not save in the DNG format. All my RAW files, no matter what format, DNG or ORF, load between 8 and 12 secs. Sounds as though you might be using the 4 shift variant version of the DNG which would give around 250MB images and if so, not too surprising that your times are 4 times bigger than mine.
  10. I routinely convert my RAW files to DNG simply to avoid xmp files being created by diifferent programs. A DNG file typically loads in 6-9 secs, the same as a RAW file. I'm running windows 10 on Core I& 2600K with 16 GB Ram. and also a Wacom Mobile Studio Pro. The images I tester were from a Pen-F ~ 20Mpixels
  11. I just developed a Sony Raw file and exported it to jpg using 1.5.0.45 on Windows 10. The date shot is in the jpeg EXIF when viewed in APh. and it also shows in Windows Explorer properties.
  12. Many thanks for this reminder, Ed. I missed the note about Luminosity Conversion earlier and also when you posted it on the Nik (pre-google) forum. I don't think I would have made the switch to APh as easily if the Nik plugins were not supported.
  13. What tablet are you using? I tried to replicate this on my new Wacom Mobile Studio Pro DTH-W1320. with Iris 550 graphics But there is 0 lag on this computer!
  14. It seems a little odd to have all those vector tools in APh and also text tools yet have a mental blockage against letting them work together!! If APh is purely for working with pixel editing photos, why are the vector tools there? So if you are going to keep vector tools and text, wouldn't it be logical to let them work together? Jim http:/js-ca.net
  15. Some software (Artec Sudio 11, for example) comes with an XML file for the optimal settings for Wacom tablets for use with the software. See http://101.wacom.com/UserHelp/en/ExpertSettings.htm. I'm sure that someone at Serif is working on the Wacom/Affinity connection and knows the current best settings for using Wacom products with Affinity products. I'm am thinking mainly about the brush dynamics configurations. It would be really helpful to have access to the xml file that your developers are currently using for testing Wacom products. I just got the new Wacom Mobile Studio pro at the same time as I got the Windows version of APh, So it's taking a lot of experimentation to work out the best way to use them together and I am not very knowledgeable about brush dynamics. Thanks Jim http://js-ca.net
  16. I also have C1 and just tried to replicated this behaviour, but without success. I opened Sony Raw file in C1 , exported it to a 16bit TIF file with the Adobe RGB profile and then opened the TIF file in APh. I could not see any difference between the image seen side by side in C1 and APh. I only have the C1 for Sony version so could not test on other formats. Jim http://js-ca.net
  17. YES, PLEASE I use a Wacom Mobile Studio Pro and I need to be able to use the express keys and on-screen controls for several macros I often use I cannot see how to do that unless there is an assigned key stroke combination for a macro. Jim http://js-ca.net
  18. I can certainly understand your your reasons for keep the specs of afphoto files to yourselves at this time. It does make for a much more rapid development (improvement) of the format if there are no outside constraints. But, if Affinity Photo is to become widely used, it must integrate easily with the workflows of those of us who use programs like PhotoMechanic, Photo Supreme/IDImager. ADAM, etc to manage our images. At the moment I cannot work with afphoto files because they cannot be seen by PhotoMechanic and Photo Supreme. The 512 pixel png file embedded in an afphoto file is not ideal for previewing, so It's really good to hear the the issue of previewing images embedded in afphoto is being reviewed. Once you have improved that apects of afphoto, PLEASE let others know how to recognise afphoto files. Much as I really like the flexibility of afphoto, I am going to have to stick to writing to PSD files in order to fit into my workflow. At the moment, there is not even a way to modify my workflow in a way that would allow me to use afphoto files routinely. For that to happen AP must integrate with PhotoMechanic and Photo Supreme. But we are on a bleeding edge here and most of us, I expect, are willing to wait a little to get the missing things that we need. Jim http://js-ca.net PS. the afphoto file format, as Ben said earlier, is very different from other image formats. It seems to be very efficient, I just did an experiment with one of my larger, many layered, PSD files which is 1.4 GB ( yes GB) in size. It took 20 sec to load in AP and 15 sec to load in PS CC 2017. I saved it as an afphoto file. It was a smaller file (246 MB) having rasterised the PS smart layers. But it loaded in less than a second. The same file exported back to a PSD file was 930MB but no longer had smart layers. So, for sure, afphoto files are worth working with. But is the advantage worth the inconveniences in the workflow?
  19. Strong support for this request, especially for the Epub support. InDesign CC has a VERY attractive feature called Publish Online which I use often. BUT everything I've published there will disappear once I stop the CC subscription. So if the HTML5 option will do what Publish Online will do, that would be wonderful. Jim http://js-ca.net
  20. I am in exactly the same boat. Must have Indesign and Acrobat. I VERY MUCH hope that Affinity Publisher will also be able to export InDesign docs to Epub, both reflowable and fixed format. Please let me know when a beta version is available. Jim http://js-ca.net
  21. Yes, I strongly support this request. I am just trying to work out a good way of using this program and I frequently run into problems when I open up an image, work on it, then save, only to discover it has been saved somewhere other than the original file's location. It is not really workable to use the last used location for saving a file. If changing the current default location is not an option, then PLEASE let there be a preferences setting that will let us choose between last used location and original file location. Jim http://js-ca.net
  22. Thanks, it's good to hear that, yes both computers are windows 10 The comment that "a license is good for only one computer." seemed unusual. Perhaps it was meant to mean "a license is good for only one operating system" ? Jim http://js-ca.net .
  23. I installed AP on my main computer, but I'm getting a windows 10 laptop this week. Normally I am allowed to use a program on both my desktop and a laptop because I would never be using both at the same time. Is this different for Affinity Photo? Thanks Jim js-ca.net
