  1. That is still not working for me, Mark. I'm running 1.6.1.93, on Surface Pro 4. On starting the program with an image loaded, The options are now Volume, View Rotarion and Histroy. But when I select the brush, the options revert to the Windows 10 options, Volume, Scroll Zoom, Undo I thought this support was just a 1.6.1 feature, but I just tried it on 1.6.0.89 and there the dial is working as exepcted. Also, I see there is an option to add your own programming to the dial for APh Will that interfere with your programming. JIm
  2. I just got the dial to test if on my Surface Pro 4, given the longer return polocy for Christmas shopping ( until Jan 7 now !) But I cannot find how to set it up to control the brush width with the dial. I have checked the setting above . But the opnly options on the radial menu are volume , scroll, zoom. undo. Are there any other configuration steps to make? Also is "in the future" more like to be months away rather than weeks away? Just curious. Jim
  3. A further question. From what you have learned making the Ipad version, and now implementing the dial on the Surface Pro tablets, do you think it will ever be possible to achieve the same functionality on the Surface Pro tablets that you have, impressively, achieved on the Ipad? I'm thinking of all the keyboard modifiers that we currently need on the Surface Pro. The dial is eliminating some of them but many remain. Jim
  4. Thanks again. I tried to use my Wacom Intuos 5 tablet wiht the Surface pro to use the progrmmable buttons, but it did not play nicely with the menus on Affinity Pro. The Dial support sounds very promising.. Jim
  5. Many thanks, Mark. Adding that support in the latest builds, suggests that development thinks that the Dial adds useful functionalisty to the Surface Pro 4. Do you know if there is a video tutorial planned. It might help to decide if the Dial is worth getting. JIm
  6. What versions of the Surface Pro has this been tested on in development. Will it run on the Surface Pro 4? Thanks Jim
  7. The brush circle does not show on my Surface Pro 4 using 1.6.0.86. I wish this bug could be solved before 1.6 goes retail. Would it be possible for someone in development to verify this behaviour on a Surface Pro 4 with the Surface Pen. There is a new Surface Pen released this summer, I'd get that if it solved this problem, but it's the same technology. Perhaps the new Wacom/Microsoft developed Bamboo Pen would work, but it would be great if someone who has either of those two pens could let us know if they have the same problem.
  8. I'm having exactly the same problem with my Surface Pro 4. No brush circle with the pen. But brush circle fine with the mouse, If I start using the brush with the mouse, I can continue using the pens and the circle shows, but as soon as I take the pen out of the image, the circle disappears. So I am only using AFPh on my desktop computer with the wacom tablet, until this is fixed. I use the brush a lot for dodging and burning and masks.
  9. Many thanks, Alfred. That helped. I can now see the inner circle of the brush, showing hardness, but still no outer circle showing the size of the brush.I'm beginning to wonder if I ever saw that outer brush on the Surface Pro 4 tablet. It would be really helpful to hear from someone who has a Surface Pro 4. I've only had this tablet for 3-4 weeks.
  10. Please could a moderator move this thread to the Bugs section. I need a solution to this problem because it is making it difficult to use the brush for dodging and burning, something I do a lot. This forum is really helpful, but it's rather hit and miss when it comes to something that needs a solution. It depends on catching the attention of someone at Serif who can figure out what is going on here. I suppose I can always do a factory reset of the Surface Pro 4 and start from scratch. Uninstalling APh did not help beacuase reinstalling picked up some settings from the previous installation.
  11. Many thanks for the reply, but this is not the problem. I can change the size of the brush no problem, and it behaves normally as a brush. BUT, there is NO circle surrounding the brush tip showing me the size of the circle so I cannot preview the size of the brush.
  12. I can not see the size of a brush in APhoto on my Surface Pro 4 running Windows 10 and cannot find any settings that affect the cursor appearance?
  13. Very happy to hear that this necessity is still a possibility for APh. It sounded, at first, that it was going to be relegated to the DAM program. As far as I am concerned this is, BY FAR, the most serious current deficiency of APh
  14. I think this is a very serious, if not crippling, omission from Affinity Photo. Applying a set of settings to a set of RAW files from a photo shoot is not, in my opinion, a function of a DAM. It should be a feature of the Develop Persona.
  15. Many thanks for all the replies. It seems that the Rectangle tool is the simplest way to give me what I need. Thanks Carl
  16. Thanks, but that's not what I am looking for. The PS Stroke command puts a 1 (or more) pixel width line on, or inside or outside the selection rectangle. I think it might available as a command in Affiity Designer, but I need it in APh
  17. How do I draw a 1 pixel stroke inside a selection rectangle in APh? I use this quite often in Photoshop, but cannot find a way do do it in APh? I looked at refine edges but this does not give what I need.
  18. Problem solved. The shortcut "I" key had nothing to do with the problem. :-( That was just coincidence that fill colour seemed to be the complement of the foreground colour. The blending mode on the lowest of many other layers was not set to normal (an oversight) and this allowed an adjustment layer to affect the fill layer.
  19. I'm trying to create a background, solid colour, layer with a colour to match one in the image. I am running into an odd problem because I don't know AP well enough yet. I use the I short cut key to pick the colour (rye dropper) and that shows correctly as the foreground colour But when I fill the new pixel layer, the fill colour is the complementary colour. It seems that the shortcut I key has somehow changed the fill colour to the Inverse colour? Where did I goof? Jim
  20. That's an amazing amount of work, Marvin. Many thanks indeed.
  21. Many thanks, affinian. That's helpful. I wonder if the different GPU make a difference as far as Affinity Photo is concerned. The I7 models have Intel Iris graphics 540 and the I5 have Intel HD graphics 520. I hope some of the AffinityPhoto engineers chime in with their experiences.
  22. I know several of the staff at Serif are using the Surface Pro 4 tablet. I am looking to buy either the I5 or I7 model with 8 GB Ram having just returned the Wacom Mobilestudio Pro 13 that I bought before Christmas. For use with Affinity Photo, is there a noticeable performance difference between the I5 and I7 when using Affinity Photo with multilayered files. Some of my Photoshop PSD files are over 1 GB in size Many thanks
  23. Sorry for the earlier post in Windows bugs, it should have been in the Windows Beta forum The bug reported in this thread for the version 1.5.0.45 https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/32451-polar-to-rectangular-implementation/ is still present in the 1.5.1.51 version
  24. I can see thumbnails for .afphoto files in Windows 10 explorer. I wondered what was different about my installation if you cannot. Then I remembered that a long time ago I installed the FastPictureViewer codecs. http://www.fastpictureviewer.com/codecs/. That was long before Affinity Photo, but it shows the afphoto thumbnails.
