  1. Did you try the .NET installation more than once? It was my third try when it finally worked.........
  2. And thankyou John for working with me, I appreciate the help. Maybe you should be running a Technical Support forum???????
  3. Yay, it worked! And doh for not thinking of that myself.... And for anyone following this thread with the same problem, the first two attempts to install the .NET framwork failed with the original previous installation/reboot error, but the third attempt - after the requested reboots - worked. If at first you don't succeed etc etc etc.....
  4. Sorry for the tardy response, my week got kinda nuts. Carefully followed steps 1 through 8 but fell at 9 - just like the safe mode attempt, the .NET framework installation failed with error code 5100. Kinda looking like I have to go back to trying to get help from Microsoft doesn't it?
  5. Thanks for the suggestion but msiexec.exe doesn't even start. All I get is a pair of dllhost.exe, which disappear once I've clicked OK on the failure to instal popup.
  6. Ooops, forgot to mention that bit, yes it's 64 bit. And in doing further research I've discovered that the original response from the installer about previous installations and restarting is a typical failure of the .NET framework installation, so it seems my problem lies there and not with Affinity Photo itself. Tried getting through to Microsoft support but it was an 88 minute wait time so after a few bad words I put it off for another day.....
  7. I'd skipped the beta and waited for the retail version, but now that I've bought it I can't instal it! I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 with 16gb of RAM. Aero is enabled. Click on the installer and I get an instant popup "setup cannot continue because a previous installation requires your computer to be restarted. Please restart your computer and rerun setup." I've tried that several times, and of course I wouldn't be here now if I'd managed to get past that. I then get a Program Compatibility Assistant popup "if this program didn't instal correctly try reinstalling using settings that are compatible with this version of Windows." There's an option to 'use recommended settings', click on that and I'm back at square one - setup cannot continue....... It was recommended that I try again in safe mode, and that does go a little differently, albeit not far. Files are unpacked to instal .NET framework 4.6.2...a process which abruptly ends with an error code 5100. Aaaargh........
  8. Thanks for the response Patrick, I'll give that a try and go to the questions forum if I'm still out of luck. Yes, I know you're British, in Nottingham - I'm from Newark myself, albeit living in Los Angeles now. The weather is so much better.........
  9. Nobody? Not even a 'try posting somewhere else?' I just - apparently - wasted $40 on software that won't install and there's not a single source of technical support of the product? This is kinda depressing.....
  10. Erm, where's the technical support forum? Bought it today, full of enthusiasm, and it won't install. Instantly get a failure 'setup cannot continue because a previous installation requires your computer to be restarted. Please restart your computer and rerun setup.' Hadn't downloaded the beta so it's not that, and of course after restarting I get exactly the same response - no delay at all, happens as soon as I click run. After the failure the program compatibility assistant opens 'If this program didn't install correctly try reinstalling using settings that are compatible with this version of Windows.' Eh? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64bit.
