Pixel and Poly got a reaction from Mithferion in Dr. Fate - comicbook colored inked artwork
I colored this inked artwork by Walter Simonson in Photo. The art I had to work with wasn't very high res so I needed to resize and adjust the lineart slightly. Walt is an amazing comicbook artist mostly known for his incredible THOR run.

Love the coloring on the plasma/gas electric charges in the air! Fun to follow each arc. Good job!

Here are a few of the illustration that I created for a site I just finished working on. All the final images were SVG files but many of them started with a photo reference or with original art created in Photo. There are a few that were all done in Designer as well. For some of the images (such as the quasar and the fusion image) I also used Flame Painter which is a fractal paint application and would then bring those elements into Photo to composite and adjust them to get the final art. I can go into more of the process if anyone is interested.

    Cheers!

And please add an option to pick grey tones of layer masks. Currently it only picks the colour value of the underlying layers.

Could we have a few options added to the color picker? I'd love to see:

A few different magnification options or let the user set the zoom level

An option to turn off the shading on the zoomed in area (I find it very distracting when trying to select the color I am looking for)

An option to show other color descriptions besides RGB. ie: HSL or HEX

I also need that feature for my web exports. Mainly for jpg and png. Not for the export persona, but for the normal export window.

    What is the "MAS release"?

Pixel and Poly got a reaction from j0e.org in Preview toggle for export files - Photo
It would be very useful to be able to see the images as they will be saved when adjusting the settings in the export dialog box.

So for example if we select JPG and lower the quality to 25% you would see the image update to show the compression artifacts. I find that many times it is important to lower quality setting as much as possible but without losing quality to specific areas and it's hard to really know where to set these setting if we cannot see a real time view of the export settings.

There could be a toggle switch to turn the preview on or off.

This could also apply to any pixel dimension changes and other compression / export settings but even just showing the JPG compression would be nice.

    Cheers!

Sounds good. I don't know if it would stay true to science since it might be more a legend, but another thing you can include is Nibiru. It's the name of Planet X and it is believed by people that it will create a massive destruction to Earth's atmosphere. I think some believe it is also an entity. I can't say I believe that though, but it's still interesting.

Yeah, I had so many topics I wanted to cover, and Nebula was definitely on there, but I really wanted to include all the planets (which is why M gets two). If I do a version 2 or add other items nebula would definitely be there! I would get most of my information from NASA and Wikipedia sources. There are so many amazing nebula images out there - as well as info! I'm not exactly sure what I'd put in the info for nebula. I would spend a lot of time going through each subject and then try to take it down to a very easy to understand paragraph but still keep it true to the science.

    Hello all!

I'm another long time Adobe Photoshop (cough cough since version 1!)  and Illustrator user coming on board here. I've also been around since the early Pagemaker and Freehand days and it's nice to see some new great applications now. I primarily work on my own now and was happy to find some other options that didn't require large monthly payments. I've been pretty impressed with Photo and Designer and while I can see some features that will really help them get more robust they're off to an amazing beginning.

I've been slowly getting comfortable switching my creative workflow to only use the Affinity products. My first big project was a science / astronomy education site for young people that I created. All the illustrations and graphics were created with Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer with a few other supporting applications as well. The Universe from A to Z

It's nice to see a great community and forum here!

    Hey Jeffery,
That's some cool stuff. I am into space as well. I was hoping N would stand for Nebula.  :P I was just curious to hear what might be explained about it since I seem to be obsessed with it. I have a science fiction I created in which unknown particles in a nebular act like molecules in trees to help sustain life, but they can even recreate it.

Pixel and Poly reacted to Peter Werner in Levels adjustments - are there any output settins? (Photo)
Unfortunately, this feature is currently missing – I'd also like to see it, and also see the sliders vertically compressed so they are right under the histogram like in Photoshop instead of the two vertical lines that can be mistaken for histogram peaks.

However, you can use a Curves adjustment layer to achieve the same effect. Input levels can be achieved by moving the right (white) and left (black) point horizontally while leaving them at the same vertical position. I think Photo doesn't have a clipping preview in Curves though, so you lose that.

Output levels can be achieved by moving the black and white points vertically while leaving them at the same horizontal position. Lack of a clipping preview is usually not relevant here, unless you work on HDR floating point documents. Combinations of input and output levels can be achieved by moving the points both horizontally and vertically.

You can approximate the Gamma slider by adding a point in the middle of your curve and moving that vertically. It's mathematically not the exact same thing as gamma (so don't use it if you need to reverse or match an exact numeric gamma curve/value precisely), but it's close enough to achieve the same effects and actually offers more control than a gamma slider.

Note that the Alpha option in Curves seems to be somewhat broken currently.
