Rick G got a reaction from Chris B in Rasterize issue
Chris, please ask if they can make a check box on the tool bar or do SOMETHING so that it can be set on the fly and remember where it is set?

Rick G got a reaction from Jowday in [Poll] Do you need a DAM? And what should it be like?
Good points and no disagreement. BUT if they are trying to cover the market, they will; need to consider a DAM at some point. AVDSEE has become a kludgy mess and lets not get into the adobe offerings. That market seems open if not ripe, but I am sure they will delve into the possibilities much deeper than we can before they commit anything to a new program

Rick G got a reaction from jc4d in Problem with the choice of color gradient
No my friend, it is totally broken. You cannot change the colors you cannot do anything with the slider. It is broken worse in the latest beta than in the previous if that is possible
If it is not totally broken and is in fact a new feature, pleas explain how to achieve a gradient

Rick G reacted to kaenes in Affinity Designer/Photo in the Workplace
It probably depends on specific company. Even if some of them uses Affiinity they may not have it on requirements. Mainly because it is easier to find someone familiar with adobe products. But recently a lot of people uses wider range of apps and software packages. For an example I'm responsible for user interface in in popular free 2 play game. And I have switched to AD from Illustrator right after Affinity Designer has been released. And when we were looking for a new UI designer we have'nt wrote about AD in our requirements. But I did ask about it during one on one conversation. After recruitment process I did show to my new team mate how Affinity Designer works and he immediately loved it. So now we both use Affinity Designer in our daily routine instead of Adoby products. It does'nt mean that I fully dropped Adobe products but I use different tools depends on my needs.

Rick G got a reaction from dmstraker in Clone brush and Healing brush controls track one another
WOW. I had noticed some screwy behavior between the tools with size and hardness and opacity changing seemingly at random
But you are correct sir, I just confirmed it here
Side note: something will reset opacity and flow also

Rick G got a reaction from Jörn Reppenhagen in Issue with Paint Brush Opacity
I tried to paint out some lettering this morning. The Opacity and Flow were at 100% yet the paint went on as if the opacity was set very low. I reset the brush although I had never changed any of it's settings (just to be thorough)
I'm either missing something and this is user error or we have a bug
Scteencast attached

Also a reset for the CLONE TOOL ... just a simple inoffensive button to click to revert it back to default values QUICKLY
Thanks

Rick G reacted to MikeW in Book Cover Design
Print establishments calculate the spine thickness. It's easy to take that dimension and create a cover.
As for ISBN codes, when I purchase one I generally receive the file for it. The couple places that do not provide the actual file, I use a separate application to create it in vector format and place it in the cover file.

Rick G got a reaction from Michael117 in Publisher Icon bland and boring?
I liked the 1.6 icons a lot better. The new "minimalist" look if for the birds. The older icons show a classy design
Here is my task bar. The Affinity icons look flat compared to the others

Rick G got a reaction from jmwellborn in Publisher, good product terrible name
Seriously? It is a publishing program and they named it (gasp!) PUBLISHER!!! who would have thought?
Ok I DEMAND they change the name to
Page making thang
OR
Book setter upper
If I don't get my way I will just settle on "Publisher" since that describes SUCCINCTLY what the program does

Rick G got a reaction from Chris B in Uncontrolled crash in the Batch Processing
Chris ... I have had this with a lot simpler conversion. It is random and may have to do with the latest beta having trouble with some JPG files (at least that is what I am using when it happens) It just won't load certain files yet if I resize FIRST with ACDSEE, then the beta can read and load them. Do you want another thread on that as I am not trying to hijack this one,.

Rick G got a reaction from dmstraker in What's your top three pragmatic 1.7 wishlist?
HAHA tell me about it. We have a Costa Rican friend who asks us about some of southern slang. |Yall| Yalls" and I have even heard |Yall'sis" And of course I am "fixin'" to go to town. unless I wish to add emphasis then I am "DONE fixin' to go to town" Of course if we were in Louisiana, I would have to explain that someone born there is a "coon-ass"
We usually advise to NOT incorporate these into speech, rather know what they are when they hit you

That was a new one for me. I was not trying to be obtuse; I really didn't understand

Rick G reacted to MEB in Page Plus compatible?
Hi Lou Guthrie,
Welcome to Affinity Forums
No, Affinity Publisher (and the other apps of the Affinity Suite) do not support PagePlus documents. We advise to continue using PagePlus for editing your existing documents (it won't stop working) or export them as PDF and import into Publisher (with some loss) if/when you can do the switch.
