    Hi DougStevens,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
This is the initial/first Publisher's release. There's no third-party templates available yet as far as I'm aware. It's possible we provide sample files or add-ons with its release/launch but I don't know for sure yet.

It was an issue when using filler text!!!!!
************DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH YOU USE OTHER TEXT*******************
I just copied some text from a website/news story, pasted into notepad (to remove any formatting) and then copied and pasted into a new text frame, added picture and it works just fine!!!!
    Problem solved!

    Hi Anna Ros,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums
After importing the text to a text frame positioned where you want, hold down the shift key and click the red triangle on the right side of the frame (bottom). Affinity will create the necessary text frames and pages and will fill them with the remaining text.

Can you attach the folder that you renamed? That folder contains custom user settings and something in there might have been causing the issue, so I'd like to double check!
By renaming it we essentially "reset" the program, as it creates a new folder from scratch.
    Thanks

Try increasing virtual memory. This article talks about it as a fix for windows crashing but what may be happening is that the data is lost during a memory swap and not automatically refreshing. Could be a graphics card thing too but I would start here

    Hi @mediamaffia,
This was an issue in the build you are using but should be fixed in the most recent beta update if you want to install it from this forum.
    Thanks

I'm really not sure why you're all discussing this. We have never given out ETA on releases / patches / betas, etc (and never will, for obvious reasons). I realise you may be excited to try out the new version as an official retail release (or even get a new beta update), but complaining about slow development is not an accurate thing to say. The Windows version has massively improved performance in the most recent betas, and we continue to add new features, and fix bugs as we go. The time period between releases does not reflect the amount of work that is happening, it merely reflects the time delays between when I make a build, how it gets on with internal testing, and then when I release it to the public. We have builds that are never released onto the forum (which happened last week, build #308 crashes on Windows 7, so it was never released externally).
And with regards to GPU Compute, yes it's something that's on my roadmap, but the complexities of implementing this on Windows are far greater than macOS. macOS has one GPU manufacturer, and Apple are in control of the drivers (you get the latest ones automatically). Windows has at least 3 GPU manufacturers, and the drivers are in a variety of different states and ages - we see that from bug reports here on the forum (i.e. crashes that are solved by merely uninstalling and reinstalling your GPU drivers).
Aside from GPU Compute (and ability to load RAW files via Apple RAW engine), there are no feature differences between the macOS and Windows versions.

Lets just take them at their word and not get upset if there is a delay. Coming in SUmmer? That is up until August 31st. Give them a chance to get it right and do a few rounds of in house alpha and beta testing.

They have change ti (and not for the better)
    After steps 1-3 you can click on the white or black dots and  change their colors;
On the main gradient lin you can drag the sliders to adjust what the gradient affects AND click on the line to add a new color point which can now be selected and adjusted on the tool bar
You can use the color wheel on the right too instead of the tool bar. Play with it a bit
    It dies work now

    Hello @nicecap,
would it work if you layout with single pages (six of them) and apply different masterpages? Masterpages can have different guidelines. I just tried with a simple setup and it seems to provide what you are asking for.
Please note: APub currently only supports double sided spreads. To create a trifold flyer you have to find a workaround, anyway.
Alternatively you can layout all three 'subpages' on one page for front and back. But this one will have horizontal guidelines across all three 'pages'
Another alternative would be to do this in Affintiy Designer and using artboards. They can have different sets of guidelines.
I attach a siple layout that demonstrates what I mean. (You can open this file in APub, as well, but it does not display the guidelines).
    Cheers,
    d.

Adding OCR can be a can of worms. There are issues with the various flavors of English and then what about other languages? You have snagit so just check out the OCR issue on the Techsmith forums and you will see what I mean/ Everything in one place is not always better; I have seen programs that do everything but not of it very well
You can set up preset in Snagit to do a panoramic capture and automatically have it run it's OCR over the results. I use Nitro for my PDF work and it has a good OCR engine Tessseract may do it; it is free but I have never used it but for you it may be worth a try if you do a lot of conversions
IF you need a hand with setting up a panoramic capture to OCR just say the word
No one is trying to be a wet blanket with your idea, but a lot of programs ditched scanning a long time ago and left it to specialized programs

    1. In the folder I create two identical files 1179 Kb

    2. Open the file 2.jpg
    3. I change one pixel of the image.
    4. Press Ctrl + S
    5. I receive a file weighing 7236 Kb (7236/1179 = 6.13 ...) The file size has increased 6 times!

I prepared the file for uploading to the site and I needed to make a minor change. I can't use fast save
    1. Ctrl + S
    Total: 1 second.

To just save the file I have to
    1. Ctrl + Alt + Shift + S
    2. Choose a format
    3. Choose quality
    4. Set the location and save the file.
    Total: 15-30 seconds.

Formally, there is a quick save tool, but I cannot use it.

I can offer several options on how to make the tool more usable.

In the global settings of the program, the user selects the toolkit itself.

    1. Keep in original quality (as original)
    2. As specified by the user as - (field for entering quality)
    3. With each save, display a dialog box in which the user himself will set the quality.
    4. Save to the highest possible quality (with increasing file size).

The tool will work as the user needs. And the user will be happy as this cast

Rick G reacted to Uwe367 in Filter Twirl allows only 1024 px diameter
Is that a bug or a feature?
I have tried to rework a tutorial in AP for which I need the Filter "Twirl".
I noticed that this filter with the slider only allows 1024 px diameter and resets a manual input to 1024px.
Then I tried another filter, Spherical, from the same menu and there I can manually enter a value greater than 1024 which will be applied and not automatically reset to 1024 px.
    Please watch the video below.
So, what works right now? Is it possible to manually enter a higher value than the slider allows or not?
In my opinion it would be better to enter the value for all filters manually afterwards or to allow a much higher value than 1024 px as standard.
I wanted to twirl the entire image, which is 6000x4000 px, but that's impossible with the settings I can make at the moment or am i doing something wrong?
The same beahavior is in 1.6.5.123.

Perhaps someone can confirm this behavior.

Rick G reacted to walt.farrell in How to link text frames?
For something that specific, it's even simpler. You start with a Master Page that defines the footer area as a Text Frame, and you set the style for that Text Frame. Then you apply that Master to all your document pages, and simply put the relevant text into the frame on each document page, and it's automatically styled based on what you specified in the Master Page. If you need to make a style change later, you just change it on the Master Page and all the document pages you've applied it to will also change.
But to use styles, you format some text as you want it, create a Text Style from that text and make it a Paragraph Style, then select that Paragraph Style from the Context Toolbar when you're creating the actual paragraph text.
The key is planning, before creating the actual text
