Rick G reacted to debraspicher in Using Crop Tool on Document Leaves Transparent Space in New View(s)
It seems when opening an image and opening a New View and using crop tool to crop image, it leaves an extra gap of non-functional transparency on the right side of the image. I attached a video showing the behavior and how it is produced. This also happens when the View is on another monitor or when floating above the application (though Windows screen recorder won't catch this)
This is reproduce-able in both regular retail and the beta version.

Rick G reacted to GarryP in Gritty Book Cover Experiments
I've been playing around with a different style of book cover today and came up with the two attached covers.
It's the same sort of style on each cover but they are for very different genres. (Both the books and their authors are completely fictional.)
Does anyone have any constructive comments, suggestions or criticisms?
Too much or too little grit? Do the typefaces work? Are the colours okay? Too much or too little going on? What would you have done differently?
I'm not sure if I'll be taking these any further but it would be nice to hear good feedback.

Hey Everyone,
Just felt like posting what I was hoping would be included in the previous contest for promotional artworks but I didn't make it. Understandable because the material is a little risque but here it is in all its glory.
This was created in Affinity Designer with a mix of Vertor shapes used as a mask in the Draw Persona and painting in the Pixel Persona.

Rick G reacted to nitro912gr in Affinity Publisher - Sneak Preview
Great news, I wait patiently for the holy trinity to be completed.
Judging from the evolution of designer and photo I do expect publisher to cover 100% of my workflow with indesign, if not from the launch then within a year.
Thank you guys and keep up the good work!

Rick G reacted to Gnobelix in Exporting PNG loses transparency
Fact is that the normal PNG export does not work as it should.
I think the Affinity Team, is in the well earned Christmas holiday
and will surprise us with its creative diversity in the new year.

I'm getting the same results. Beta 1.6.3.96 loads transparent png files correctly but fills the transparency with white when exporting to png format.

Yes! Clear that is what I am reporting. A bug in the beta. DOn't mind my reexplaining things.. I want to make sure the developers know exactly what is going on with it
Thanks for the response

Rick G got a reaction from Max N in Exporting PNG loses transparency
Thanks for the pointer but i almost always do that with new documents (or just for get, cuss a lot and remove the white background)
However I am usually bringing in assorted graphics to work on. That is the case here. I brought in the wreath, removed the background and exported it and the transparency is lost during export even though they are the same settings I have always used for PNG files. If the loaded file is a PNG to start with then just saving the file WILL preserve the transparency, it is only the export that is apparently broken. I have loaded several other graphics and just taken a bite out of the middle and the export failure is the same
Exporting as a GIF has the same issue
Thanks for the reply

Any new information on when an image trace feature may be implemented?

Rick G reacted to Gnobelix in Exporting PNG loses transparency
I have to correct my statement, see above
During the export, I noticed that an ICC profile is activated,
deactivate the ICC profile, then works the PNG export with 24 bit and transparent background

Rick G reacted to Alfred in Exporting PNG loses transparency
Yes, the PNG that Rick uploaded has transparency, but if I export it to PNG-24 and then load the exported version I get the result described in the OP.

I don't have the beta. So maybe it is an issue with the beta, but the PNG that you uploaded has transparency. It loads in the retail version with transparency and everything else I have.

Rick G reacted to bodobe in Discovery Project – Jupiter Mission
Based on the Discovery Project in the new Affnity Photo Workbook, I placed the scene on one of the four main moons of Jupiter. I'm a fan of Stanley Kubrick, 2001: A Space Odyssey is one of the best science fiction movies ever. No further monolith was found in this cave, but something very spectacular. There is also a wonderful view
