Rick G reacted to Jowday in Live filter layers issue (with all live filters)
Photo Beta 1.7.0.178, Windows build on Windows 10 Pro
Affected: All live filters - fx denoise.
Observed: Picture is divided into frames and spaces like a table upon creation of live filter layer. Hiding the live filter layer restores a correct image preview until it is unhidden.

Rick G reacted to Uwe367 in Transformation Bug while rotating
Hi @all
I think i found a bug in publisher while transforming and duplicating a layer and it looks like the transformation was miscalculated.
There are 2 Videos. The first shows how Designer works (that shows what it should be like) and for comparsion the second Video shows the same steps in Publisher with the wrong calculation.
it seems that the rotating at the end of the video, where the layers with the transformation are duplicated, will be wrong calculated.
The Steps in Designer:
Designer.mp4
Same Steps in Publisher. Look at the difference in transforming please.
Publisher.mp4 And in the Publisher Video you also can see two issues i reported to you.
- Snapping of the rotaion centre to Guidelines doesn´t work (same snapping settings as in designer)
- Roation Centre and ohter guides will be hidden if moving guidelines. This is very impractical.
Many greetings
Uwe

I'll get this passed to the developers for you

Rick G got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Photo does not release closed graphics
After editing and closing multiple graphics, I find they are still locked by Photo, specifically by instances of "exiftool.exe" which must be killed via task manager
This is random but fairly often behavior

All very well, but it is your softare that has the problem.
First version of Beta I have seen this problem so it must be fixable.
Surely you can fix it so we don't have to jump through all those hoops??

Rick G got a reaction from AdamW in Affinity Publisher Public Beta - 1.7.0.145 (Windows)
I don't need to go back. I can install any update, with the failure and the reboot that I documented. Then it installs correctly and is totally usable
I don't mind doing it a few times and generating logs so you can see what is going on. There are directions elsewhere and I can do it over the weekend
And you guys can get to it when you can hopefully before final release (and that is not snotty ... it does not matter if it does not get fixed for the next beta)
Just trying to help

Rick G got a reaction from Patrick Connor in Affinity Publisher Public Beta - 1.7.0.128
Yes, thank you. I had edited my post to reflect that I had cleaned up manually and had success. Thanks for the tool. I grabbed it and will keep it around. I am thinking the Publisher installer has some deeper issues going on. I am sure it will get figured out

Rick G got a reaction from stokerg in Can't install Affinity Publisher (bug)
So here is what you do. Clean out the temp folder for your profile. Use Wise cleaner, Ccleaner or something like that and reboot. Before you load anything, load task manager, kill any startup programs that you don't need then try the install. If it does not work,, make sure it is not hung up in the task manager then RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR. and see if that does it
Also check to see if it in fact created the program folder
Check to see if the install window is running behind everything else
Check permissions on everything and if you must add your self with full permissions EVEN IF you are in the ADMINISTRATORS group with full permissions
Just had an update of windows 10? Check permissions again. Remember, they are "improving" Windows 7 into the best phone app on the market (don't get me going)
Anyway, please post back and good luck

Both. The latest beta was released as a stable patch.

The Neon type/text effect is fantastic for adding nighttime glamour's poster & flyer for a great event. In this tutorial, we would be showing you how to make a neon light effect on text in Affinity Designer with simple blending options and effects. We can also create it in affinity photo. I hope you like the video, Thanks for watching.... See my Tutorial

Rick G reacted to o5m6 in Weathering with Brushes
I'm specialized in 2D drawings of WW2 military vehicles and use XARA Xtreme 5.1 for the shapes.
The real challenge comes with camouflage and weathering as fabric-new vehicles are not an option.
Recently I discovered Affinity Photo with its brush collection and layer effects, just what I was looking for.
So I export the raw drawing as psd format raster file with layers (!) into AP for further refinement.
Hope you like it.

Rick G got a reaction from Alfred in Selection Brush in Photo Issue
You might want to start clicking on the color channels until you find the one that gives you the most contrast ... green for the ducks. then tweak that and make the contrast greater withou clipping detail. THEN do your selection, get it the way you want it, hide that layer, select the original layer and you are good to go.
There are a bunch of tutorials about color channels and channel masking here is a great one. Below this is just the green channel from your pic

Rick G reacted to unni in Panorama of a 1750 palace
This is my first try on a panorama. The AP software is doing a wonderful job. One image is just after the stitching of 5 RAW images without any corrections. The other one is processed. I have used the warp tool to correct the distortion . After warp, went back to develop persona for lens distortion option for further correction. Then inpainting to remove the central drum and house on the right side. Unsharp mask for sharpening and luminosity mask used for curves adjustment of some dark areas of the palace. Camera is Nikon D3100, 1/100 sec, f8, ISO 100, hand held, kit lens 18-55.
The palace is built sometime in 1750 and name Krishnapuram Palace, Ochira, Kerala, India. The pond extends into the middle of the palace from the underground. Wiki gives more details.
The image below is processed.
The image below is not processed. Only stitched.

Rick G reacted to Max N in Problem when working with Cyrillic font. AD 1.6.5.119
When you work with the font, the cursor disappears. When the delete button is clicked, characters can be deleted, or words may be wholly. The problem is present in both the stable and beta versions. -
Rick G reacted to Sean P in Problem when working with Cyrillic font. AD 1.6.5.119
Thanks Max N, I've found a copy of the font and reproduced the issue. I'll get it passed on to development.
