  1. I had trouble as well until I realized I was using my forum login instead of the website login.
  2. Everyone learns differently. Being an inexperienced ignoramus myself I found it a struggle to wrap my head around editing and workflow. I never used anything like AP or photoshop before. I do have lightroom 4. An odd thing that helped me to understand actual workflow came from the video editing industry. It may not be useful to your education but it helped me grasp the photo editing workflow: 1. Davinci Resolve https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolveIf you scroll down to the bottom of the page you will see a free version for download. 2. This guys free Resolve tutorials http://filmsimplified.com/courses He has a lot of paid tutorials for film makers but his free classes were enough for me to grasp the idea of an editing workflow. The tools are obviously wrong for AffinityPhoto but the concept of workflow is what they helped me understand. (besides, most modern cameras come with video capability so you might need it one day). 3. Same guy, (Alex Jordon). This is his youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/LearnColorGrading/featured.. Most of the channel is advertising for his classes but he has a lot of short tutorials that I found very helpful. Apologies if this is way off topic but being a noob and knowing this helped me (in an odd way) to understand the editing and workflow process, I will throw it out there for others who might be struggling. Edit: Forgot to mention. When he talks about nodes just replace that word with layers, it will make sense then :)
  3. Thanks for the printing advice. I was not sure about that.
  4. wow! That was an encyclopedia of good information packed into a 12 minute video. Thanks for sharing it. I have yet to send any photos out to a lab for printing but your video makes me think it would be best to give the lab files with the same intent that you use for magazine/book publishers. In other words, does it make sense to send files to a printing company with a little room left for them to adjust? Or, do I need to get it correct the first time? I'm talking about photos that I would hang in my own house, not professional for sale photos.
  5. Can those of you who are not experiencing any speed issues with AP please let the rest of us know what GPU you are using? I think the list might be of use to a few of us with older equipment. In my case AP does run slow compared to lightroom and other apps that I have. I think it is related to the age of my GPU. On the CPU end I am up to date (I7-Skylake 6700 quad core). I also use an SSD hard drive. Thanks in advance, Rick
  6. Thanks MBd, I am watching them now. edit: Just finished watching the tutorials, very helpful. The only difference I see in the tutorials vs the above video is this. The AP tutorials all show a panorama stitched horizontally. The above video stitches them both horizontally and vertically. I'll play around with this later and see if AP has the smarts to stitch in both directions. Thanks again.
  7. Thanks Kodiak, It was just something I wanted to experiment with but I'm not willing to subscribe to PS just to test an idea. I recently purchased AF and AD and I own a copy of Lightroom4. That's as far as I'm willing to go atm for my hobby spending. I don't have pro or semi-pro gear. I'm just a hobbyist digital photographer. I purchased a sony nex5n a few years ago and also have a nikon d5100 (both have the same 16MP sensor). Most of my lens are from the 35mm manual focus days. The only upgrade I'm considering is adding a Nikon D7100 so I can use autofocus on my Nikon 70-180mm zoom lens. I will add something to my sig to indicate my level of experience here :). I am fascinated by photography but it's a slow process for me. I'll be spending my time learning lighting technique and doing still life tests while experimenting with lighting and the Affinity software. Like I said, I was just curious if AP was capable of doing something similar to what he did in that video. I miss my F3 and film. :)
  8. "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-GbuXU8YMQ&feature=youtu.be&t=415?" The video shows a complicated panorama technique. I would like to try this. Does anyone know how it might be done with AP?
