  1. Hey good people,

As you may know, Affinity Photo has a Perspective live filter, that kind of serves as a workaround for the lack of a vector based perspective distortion tool for AD. In Photo you don't have Artboards, but if you add a Perspective live filter to an AD file (Edit in Photo functionality for AD), then you go back to AD, you have these weird artifacts. For mer it appears on Win10 and MacOS Bug Sur too.

In the video below I show what happens when I remove the filter and add it back. The problem goes away, then comes back.

Can you reproduce this or is it just me?

  2. @giaco51 I didn't see those videos. Where are they? I made some tests for myself, experimenting with the Data Merge feature, and all works well on Windows. I used a single .xlsx file, and a simple product catalog layout, with prices, product names, discount values and a photo for the products. I suppose the text data merge function works well for you. For the images you need to have the source path for the images in the spreadsheet document. You need to add an image frame into your design on the existing Data Merge Layout. Select your image frame, then double click the image path field on the fields panel (View>Studio>Fields).

Is this what you're looking for or something else?

  3. I don't have to touch Suitcase to reproduce the problem. Check the recording I sent to Affinity Support in mail:

As you can see all Affinity Apps crash when I try to access the brush panel. I'll attach a font that almost always cause problems. If it's activated, apps crash, if not (and there are no other problematic fonts in active state), apps load. Of course if the brush panel is not open by default, or if I do not open it, everything works well.

Fonts were activated way before I recorded the video, so there are no fonts activating in the background.

Let me know if I can provide any more information.

    Thank you for your time.

  4. Yes, the problem is present with 1.8.2 too.

Suitcase indeed can autoactivate fonts when a certain app is starting up, but I do not use that feature, because I use all the affinity apps, so It's better to keep activated what I need all the time. So in my case Suitcase does not activate any fonts during the startup of Designer, Photo or Publisher.

I was testing my font collection, but the results are inconsistent. Sometimes a font causes problems, sometimes does not.

The weird thing is that, when the apps have started and I activate the fonts afterwards, everything works well during that session, all fonts are working. But if I restart Designer, it crashes (in case the Brush Panel is open).

What's the connection between the brushes and the fonts? How come everything else works, including the fonts themselves, the character panel, the paragraph settings, but if the brushes are activated, the app crashes.

  5. Update: 03.24.2020

Looks like the problem now is generated by certain fonts. I'm not sure what is happening. Sometimes if a font is active, affinity won't start if the Brush Panel is open or crashes if I open it from a closed or collapsed state. Other times those fonts do not generate any problems. It's worth to mention, that I'm using Suitcase Fusion v19.1.1. I've been using this without any problems in the past. Anyone using this font management tool?

@WhiteX You can override "Force Pixel Alignment" temporarily by holding down the alt/option key as you drag or draw. This is not a workaround for a bug. The app is just doing what you tell it to, so if you include something that is not pixel-aligned & on an edge of your document, then on export to a raster image format the fractional pixels you have created by doing that must be converted to whole pixels.

@farbenfeuer see the above. The app just does what you tell it to do. However I still think this is not how it should behave, especially on export persona.

@R C-R If the exported image wouldn't contain the 1px empty lines where the rounding happens, it would be a much better option. So if a file is 2344.45px wide, it should be converted to 2344px instead of 2345px, and the white lines would disapper.
