A bit of an aside, but (assuming you have a printer attached to your computer) you may find it easier and cheaper to print the images yourself and buy some photo keyrings from Amazon. https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=photo+keyrings&ref=nb_sb_noss_2 That way, if the image isn't quite right, you can just reprint it.

Lost my NIK plug-ins
PaulEC replied to Brian_G's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Long shot, but the NIK plugins seem to be in a different location to where they used to be. (or, at least, the search folders are different). It might be worth trying installing them in the default folder. -
For custom made tiles you could take a look at: https://www.uniquetiles.uk/ https://society6.com/ is good for a wide range of products, but not vases (AFAIK).

Lost my NIK plug-ins
PaulEC replied to Brian_G's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I recently reinstalled the latest versions of the Affinity Apps and the free version of the NIK Collection plugin on a new (Windows 10) PC and they are working very well. The only things I can suggest are to check that the path to the plugins is correct and that they are installed correctly and /or reinstall them. (I can't lay my hand on the instructions for installing them in Affinity at the moment, but I'm sure they are in the forum somewhere. – Sorry I can't help more!) -
@Websites 'N' More I think the problem is that @FraGar used the image you uploaded, while (I assume) you are trying to do it with an "image" made up of several layers, i.e. each line on a separate layer. If that is the case the easiest way to do what you want is to flatten the "Image" so that you just have a single layer, you'll then be able to use the Flood Fill Tool.

page scroll speed with mouse wheel
PaulEC replied to Paolo192's topic in Feedback for Affinity Publisher V1 on Desktop
Not sure if this helps but if you're on Windows and have a Microsoft Mouse you can install the Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Centre which will enable you to control wheel speed. I don't know if there are any other similar utilities available. -
For some reason a lot of people seem to think that there's something special about a green background that makes it easier to replace the background. A "green screen" is actually intended to be used with Chroma Key software to electronically replace a background, it is of no help if you are just using normal background replacement techniques. In fact any bright colour (like a bright green) is going to make it more difficult because of colour fringing.

Thumbnails
PaulEC replied to DarrenG's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
You could also checkout SageThumbs (https://www.cherubicsoft.com/en/projects/sagethumbs). I'm not sure if it works with your particular file type, but it does say "SageThumbs is a powerful shell extension allowing to preview enormous amount of image formats directly in Windows Explorer by using Pierre-e Gougelet's GFL library (XnView's author)." -
Hold the left mouse button, then the right mouse button at the same time (to finish release the left before the right). Yes, I know , it's not exactly easy or intuitive! 🙂

The normal way to do this sort of thing is to make a selection of the foreground (the man with the crystal ball), and then put it on top of the background. How you make the selection depends on the images you're using. The big problem here is that the man's suit and the background are both black, so the best way is probably to use the pen tool, although that could be a bit tricky to get it just right. There are other ways to combine two (or more) images, but combining them in this way is the most straight forward. You also need to take into account that the lighting/tones etc need to match in both images for the result to look realistic.

The only reason for clipping the canvas is to make it the same size as the image you are placing, that way the document does not need to be the same size as the image you are placing. As I said, you have to have something to place the image into, if you don't clip to canvas you will either have a border around the image (as in my video) or, if the document is smaller than the image, parts of the image will be cut off. Maybe we're doing something different to each other (I'm also on Windows), but for me it doesn't matter if the placement policy is embed or link, the placed image is still an image layer. The only difference is whether it is embeded or linked!

In the Layers panel: Group the rectangles (select them all, then Ctrl + G). Put the triangle above them. Drag the thumbnail of the triangle over the thumbnail of the group of rectangles. This will clip the group to the triangle. (If you want to see the black triangle, copy it and put it below the other layers.)
