  1. All updates to version 1 are free, but if you want to upgrade to version 2 (when it comes along, which could be quite a while) you will need to pay for it. Having said that, you will be able to continue using version 1 if you prefer.
  2. Hi @Yusup Budiman, welcome to the forums. I had a similar problem with ADesign after I installed the update. (APhoto and APub were fine.) Restarting my PC seems to have solved the problem (hopefully!) (NB - sometimes restarting, rather than just turning off and turning back on again, can solve a lot of problems. 🙂)
  3. I just did a search for PaintCode. The only app I could find with that name is £178 ($199) per year! If that's the app you're referring to, I don't think you can really compare it to the Affinity apps which you buy outright for a one off fee!
  4. Actually there have been numerous improvements and additions, as well as many bug fixes, over the years since the apps were first released.
  5. Shift and Ctrl do work when cropping in APhoto, but not in the same way as they do when moving/sizing objects. Holding Ctrl allows you to use the straighten tool while cropping and holding Shift constrains rotation to 15deg increments. (Shift + o will alter the orientation of the Golden Spiral Overlay.)
  6. FWIW - on my Windows PC, the size in the Resize Document dialogue is whatever the size of the image/document is currently. (In other words, if the image is 96 dpi if will show as 96 dpi, if it's 300 dpi it will show as 300 dpi.) The unit is whatever the rulers are set to. However as they always default to pixels, that's what is shown in the Resize Document dialogue unless you have changed it. (It doesn't matter if the image is PNG, JPG, whatever.) If you open a new document the units used will be whatever you used when you created it.
  7. I think he was probably referring to "Studio Link"! (But without saying too much, so as not to spoil the impact when it was finally unveiled.)
  8. Oh, I dunno, I remember this edition of "Mad" magazine, when barcodes were introduced! 😀
  9. I'm assuming that it's the rather hard, jagged areas that you are trying to get rid of. I tried selecting them, feathering the selection, then using the Levels settings to match them as closely as possible with the surrounding area. Then I used the Healing Brush to soften the edges and blend the areas together.
  10. Just to be pedantic, Serif didn't actually rebrand and relaunch it's previous (legacy) products; the Affinity range is a completely new range of products: "built from the ground up". 😉
  11. Even if the overlay is set to "None" you should still see the handles, which are not visible in wimbledon boy's screenshot. (I suspect the problem may be with the OpenCL setting.)
  12. Actually you can draw a new crop area in APhoto. Just start drawing it within the picture. (You can't start outside the picture.) You can adjust the area you've just drawn, if you need to, using its handles and/or rotate the picture.
  13. You can save your own pre-sets of shapes, so maybe it would speed things up if you save a pre-set of your rounded shape before you use the corner tool to refine it further.
  14. I normally put the Bank/Public Holidays in red and other notable days (saint's days, Bonfire Night, when clocks go backwards and forwards etc) in green. I also add personal dates (family birthdays and that sort of thing) in blue.
  15. I use https://www.gov.uk/bank-holidays for dates of Bank Holidays. Most other info, general events, Saint's Days, moon phases are freely available on the "net". For the actual calendar blocks, I use the Calendar Wizard/templates in PagePlus X9, then import them (as PDFs) into APub to add the images and other info.
  16. That's what I wanted. I've found company's that just have templates to put your own pictures in, but I prefer to design my calendars from scratch. If you buy 10 (ample for my purposes) they are fairly cheap, per item, from Viking. In the past I've just put a bulldog clip at the top of the calendars, but I'd rather have them properly bound, with a hanging loop. Thanks again for your help.
  17. Thanks for that link, I've been trying to find a company who can produce reasonably priced calendars for a while.
  18. From your screen shot it looks as though Work sans Bold/Grassetto is selected, so it should work even if the "Bold" button is greyed out. I assume that the "Bold" and "Italic" buttons are only intended as shortcuts to the most common styles, as there are a lot more actually available for many fonts (18 for Work sans).
  19. You're probably missing that you need to use < and > not , and . i.e. you need to hold the shift key down as well. (I fell for this myself at first!)
  20. I haven't actually used them myself for many years, but they usually have a central section that clips into the frame. (A bit difficult to get out again if you want to change the picture.)
