  1. This is not a "bug". It is not what White Balance is supposed to do!

White Balance gets rid of colour casts. it does not replace other colours with white, nor does it affect the "exposure". The background appears to be grey, but I think it's just a bit underexposed. If so you just need to adjust the exposure/levels etc to make it white.

EDIT: This is with a levels adjustment:

    What extra cost?

This was in reply to the statement "Photoshop does the job", and trying to make the point that paying for Photoshop, just to get an extra export format, would be just a bit daft! – I'm afraid I do get a bit fed up with the oft repeated idea that anything and everything available in Photoshop should also be in APhoto (for a fraction of the cost)!

I actually agree that it would be nice if APhoto could export BMP (and webp,) but the reality is that it doesn't at the moment! In the meantime (if it's that important to you,) you can either pay for another app, like Photoshop, or use a free app, like XNConvert, to convert the file types that APhoto doesn't export to.

  3. I really don't see why there is a problem!

Although part of a suite, all three apps have different capabilities. If you want the shape to have a fill and/or a stroke it is much easier in APub than in the other apps, but it is easy to remove them in APub by using the Text Frame tab (which is not available in the other apps).

In APhoto and ADesigner the fill/stroke will disappear when you add text and you have to duplicate the shape in order to display a fill and/or stroke.

I can work around that by grouping and subtracting the "punch out" text using Shape combinations, but that does not allow me to retain the original design elements in an editable way,

I'd suggest keeping two versions of the file, an editable version and one that has been optimised for printing.

  5. Basically:

TTF is older and more widely supported. (EDIT: Having said that, I don't think there are any modern apps that don't support OTF nowadays!)

OTF generally has more advanced typesetting features and often includes embellishments like ligatures and alternate characters.

Personally, given the choice, I always use OTF.

Cool! So with that reasoning in mind:

Windows leading the way by far with 75%... Could we get the Designer and Photo Tablet version apps (now available on iOS only) ported to Windows so we can use it on pen tablets? That would be very nice! 😀

These stats are for desktops, not tablets! (For tablets Windows has a much lower market share than iOS.)

I understand that. But a short heads up that they are still working on something would be very nice.

    Is this not good enough!

Sorry, we are focussing our efforts on a major release (new features and fixes) and consequently have not done any minor patches for a long time, as you say. But no not dead.

I just get a error sound when I try to use the Macros, so that is not the correct macro.

What Macros? "Use the ctrl/cmd+C and ctrl/cmd+V keyboard shortcuts to copy layers or groups between different Affinity documents".

Is there any reason why there is not a "copy layer" choice in the Layer dropdown window ?

Because Copy and Paste are in the Edit Menu. (Just like in most other software!)
