Assuming what you are after is the shape over an image with that sort of colour effect: Open the picture you want to use. Create the shape you want to put on top. (In this case, four triangles arranged, "added" together, then coloured.) Set the blend mode of the shape (top layer) to Multiply. (Other blend modes might work better, depending on colours used, the base image, effect wanted.) If this isn't what you're asking about, I think we do need an explanation of exactly what effect you are after. (To be honest, I don't really understand what you mean by "pixelating" in this context!)

Christmas/Halloween font
PaulEC replied to Josie's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
There are literally thousands of free and cheap fonts available to download. Rather than spending your time trying to match exactly the font(s) someone else has used, why not just look for ones you like yourself and use them instead? If you do a search for "Christmas", "Halloween" or "Holiday" fonts you'll find plenty of them to choose from. -
I don't really understand why you need to keep two copes of everything. If you are working on a project, save it as an Affinity file. When finished, or if you need another file type at any time, just export it as needed. You don't need to keep two files at the same time! (Although personally I always prefer to keep the original file and work on a copy myself!)

The survey - NO subscription
PaulEC replied to nickbatz's topic in Customer Service, Accounts and Purchasing
I find it slightly sad that so many people only seem to use Affinity to avoid paying a subscription to Adobe. Maybe I'm in a minority, but I actually like the Affinity products and prefer them to the Adobe equivalents. When I was working, my employer offered to pay a subscription for the Adobe suite, but I preferred to stick with Affinity. The Affinity software does (almost) everything I need; I really don't need, or want, the overblown Adobe software, (although I did use it for many years before the Affinity suite was available!) Having said that, if Serif did introduce a subscription only model, I would either stick with v1 or find alternative software (but I wouldn't go back to Adobe!) -
Affinity Publisher for iPad Pro
PaulEC replied to Sanctuary's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on iPad Questions
Sorry to be pedantic, but, to avoid confusion, AP is normally used to refer to Affinity Photo. The usual shortcut for Affinity Publisher is APub. (If you hover over the shortcuts in forum posts you should see a popup!) -
N-Up printing issue
PaulEC replied to GeirSol's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I'm just wondering if, rather than using 4-up printing, it would be easier just to arrange four copies of the original on an A4 sheet? Over the years, I've often needed to print 2, 4 (or more) copies of an item on a single sheet, and I've usually found that doing the layout myself is easier than messing around with n-up print settings! -
Well. a lot of early prints were made by contact printing large glass plate negatives, so they would, effectively, be "hi-res"! (But I do like the softer look of Abdushakur's picture!)

Toolbar view with icon names
PaulEC replied to gointern's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
I'm not sure I'd be keen on having the tools in groups. As it is several of them are already "grouped", with a flyout to access he "hidden" ones. I tend to prefer to have all the tools individually to save the extra step of opening a flyout. As GarryP says, I would prefer any such changes in the UI to be user-defined! -
Sorry, I didn't keep the file after experimenting with it. FWIW I tend to use "PDF for Print" as my standard PDF export. To be honest, I don't really know much about the various PDF export options, so I tend to stick with what usually works best for me! (EDIT! From a quick look at the default options in "PDF for Print" and "Press Ready", the only difference seems to be that the "Colour space" with "for Print" is set to "as in document" and with "press ready" it's set to "CMYK".)

Toolbar view with icon names
PaulEC replied to gointern's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Another one of those suggestions that I don't have a problem with, as long as I can turn it off! Personally I think it wastes way too much screen space. I don't find it a problem knowing which tool is which, most of the icons are fairly obvious, and the tool tips are almost instant if you need them. -
Bubbles filter
PaulEC replied to Kjps's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I think what you are referring to are overlays, not filters! If so, just do a "Google" for "bubble overlays", these will usually be PNG files, which will work in Affinity Photo. (They don't need to be Affinity files.) -
Is AFFINITY dead?
PaulEC replied to J.T's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
If I recall correctly, it has (arguably) the oldest pub in the country: The Old Trip to Jerusalem! Let's just talk about beer here. 'Much more interesting than self-appointed "experts" making baseless speculations and telling Serif how to run their company! As there are so many experts on software development and running a business around here, I wonder why they don't develop their own software and start up a business selling it, rather than coming here to tell Serif how they should be doing it! I'm sure that would make us all smile! -
It would probably be easier just to ask Manchester Pride for a different / better quality version of their logo!. I've needed to use a number of logos over the years, and it's usually easier just to ask organisations for them, if what you need is not already available on line. – Some organisations are not that happy if you start changing their logos yourself!

It's worth noting that there is one big difference between switching to the Photo Persona in Publisher and using File > Edit in Photo. Using the Photo Persona in APub enables you to use many of the features which are available in AffinityPhoto, but you need to Edit in Photo to have full access to all it's features.
