Affinity V2.0
PaulEC replied to Brian Lucas's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
See Patrick Connor's comment earlier in this thread! -
Please see Dan C's reply to your other post. I would suggest doing a Google search for an answer to your question. (N.B. This thread is for new members of the forum to introduce themselves, not for questions!)

Affinity V2.0
PaulEC replied to Brian Lucas's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Wouldn't you know it! โ As soon as someone from Serif says, "We are not commenting on specific features", people start asking Serif to comment on specific features! ๐ -
Is AFFINITY dead?
PaulEC replied to J.T's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
As regards to the release of Affinity Publisher for iPad, I can confidently predict (without any inside information whatsoever), that it will be released ... * * * * * * * * (Wait for the great revelation!) * * * * * * * (Big drum roll!) * * * * * * * ... When Serif are ready to release it! (Now can we please stop all this pointless speculation?) -
They are vector brushes for Designer, you can't use them in Photo.

Color palette generator.

I'm assuming something like the "Colour Scheme Designer", that was in PagePlus. (It could actually be quite useful sometimes.) -
Affinity V2.0

Don't worry โ some people will always find something to complain about; and if they can't find anything, they'll probably make it up! ๐ -
Affinity V2.0
PaulEC replied to Brian Lucas's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I have no idea why on earth people keep talking about Serif being acquired by Adobe, moving to a subscription model, or going out of business! There haven't been any Affinity updates for a few months: so what! โ Some software is updated more often, some less often. Serif have made it clear (more than once) that their current priorities are focused on APub for iPad, and new versions of the whole Affinity suite. These endless "conspiracy theories", with no basis in fact, are not just pointless they are wildly inaccurate fantasies! If self appointed "experts" want to tell Serif how to develop software and how to run the company, that's up to them! Obviously they have nothing better to do! Personally I prefer spending my time using the software to get work done! Yes, we are all looking forward to upgrades to the Affinity suite, hopefully with some of the long standing bugs being fixed, and with some great new features: but it's a big job, for a (comparatively) small company, so it's bound to take some time to get it right. Serif have been a successful company, producing excellent software, for quite a number of years: I'm quite happy using the Affinity software, as it stands, until a new version comes along. I'd much prefer Serif take their time getting it right, rather than pushing out substandard products just for the sake of speed! -

But this is a forum for Affinity software! I find it hard to believe that it is "the same thing" developing, and issuing updates, for a suite of three pieces of software on three platforms, as it is to update a browser! -
Crop Tool: dynamic handles needed
PaulEC replied to Fritz_H's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Sorry guys, I think I understand what you're trying to do now! I was assuming that you just needed to align one side accurately, then you could drag the others once you zoom out - no use if you need to see the whole thing! -

After you've zoomed in, just drag out a crop box where you want it! ice_video_20220915-141107.mp4 -
StudioLink is just the name for the way in which you can use the Photo and Designer personas directly in Publisher. You said, you were "able to link all applications ", I assumed you meant by using the Photo and Designer Personas within Publisher. If not, how were you doing it? If it used to work, but no longer does, possibly something has changed with your set up. Apart from checking that you are running the latest version of the apps, I can only suggest that you have a look at this thread, which will, hopefully offer a solution: Failing that it will probably need someone from Serif to take a look at your particular setup.

Affinity V2.0
PaulEC replied to Brian Lucas's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Sorry, I'm still confused! Firstly you talked about software having "at least monthly releases". Then, when I said that I didn't know of any other apps. that were updated that often, you mentioned browsers and phone apps that update automatically. The Affinity software isn't a web browser or phone app, but you seem to be suggesting that it should be updated in the same way as apps on a phone. As N.P.M. pointed out, there have been around 36 updates in about six years, that is actually a lot more that most other PC software! I'm not sure why you compare Affinity with web browsers and phone apps, rather than with other similar, software, then say it's the "same process". I can't see how a company developing a suite of three integrated pieces of software, for three operating systems, can be expected to update it all as frequently as a phone app. Yet you say they are the same thing! -

Sorry, I thought we were talking about apps on the PC, similar to Affinity, not phone apps! -

PaulEC replied to Brian Lucas's topic in Pre-V2 Archive of Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I must be using the wrong software โ none of the apps I use have anything like monthly updates! I'm sure, if they did, I'd get sick and tired of the endless updating! -
Blend Mode of Layer Effects (Affinity Photo Mac version)
PaulEC replied to Anitainment's topic in V1 Bugs found on macOS
On Windows 10, I get the same result in both Photo and Designer: no shadow on the transparent background. (If I add a white rectangle as a background then the shadow shows on that. To be honest, I'm not really sure what the "Darker Colour" Blend Mode is supposed to be doing!)- 5 replies

To be perfectly honest, it's not obvious to me! The results look quite similar! What makes the Photoshop version right and the AP version "unusable"?

Download wont open for Atmosphere add on
PaulEC replied to Clearwatrs's topic in Customer Service, Accounts and Purchasing
From the image you posted, it looks as though you're trying to open these files in Paint. If you look at the product description it clearly says, "Please note: the .afassets supplied in this pack will only work in 1.9+ versions of Affinity apps." If you really want to use them in other software you can open them in Affinity then export as .png images. (Most will need to be saved with transparent backgrounds.) -
Hi @Robert Rado Welcome to the forums. In "Spread setup" change page size to A4, then in "Scaling" set to Anchor to Page. Export as single pages, not spreads.

Hi @lphilpot Welcome to the forums. There are online versions of the help files, which can be read in a browser and printed out as hard copy or PDF, although you would need to print each topic individually! (I don't know if these would be more helpful to you than the built in versions!) https://affinity.help/

I would have thought that the best way to set this up was as a four page, A4, facing page document. You get the front and back pages along with the centre page spread, all in the right order to layout the content. Then you can either print as a "booklet" yourself, or export as a single page PDF if sending it to a printer.
