  1. Or hover your mouse over your avatar, rather than your name, and click "Find Content".
  2. I'm afraid that you are missing a vital point โ€“ the question was about Affinity Photo, which does not have picture frames, they are only available in Affinity Publisher! As previous replies have indicated, the way to achieve what was originally requested is to either use Edit - Paste Inside, or to clip the image to a shape using the layers panel.
  3. Which, of course, like everything generated by AI, is accurate and completely reliable! ๐Ÿ˜
  4. Try saving locally, then transfer the file to the remote device. (Affinity sometimes has problems saving to remote storage.)
  5. What I don't understand is why anyone would put filler text in a text frame and then add "real" text. Surely, if you don't want the filler text you can just delete it or overwrite it. As filler text can be added as "real" text, I wonder how the software could distinguish between real filler text text and any other text, especially if you use custom filler text rather than the default lorem ipsum. ๐Ÿ™ƒ
  6. As you seem to have discovered, you have to set the rotation point on the object itself, not in the Transform Panel. I find that if you use Guides and Snapping there is no problem positioning the rotation point accurately. The Distance setting moves both Horizontal and Vertical settings so that both work together, rather than having to use both settings to fine tune the distance between objects.
  7. Where does Photoshop come in? You referred to Quark Express, and Nathan was obviously talking about Affinity Photo!
  8. Do you mean that you're getting the result as shown at the top, rather than the bottom version? (Assuming this is what you're asking about.)
  9. PDF is obviously better for sending to clients/printers etc than the Affinity native format, but it's pretty useless if you need to save the file to continue working on the project, or to keep to edit or reuse later! As such (IMHO) the best default format to save files is the Affinity native format, then export as PDF (or, depending on the project,) another common file format, when sending to clients etc.
  10. You can link Assets across all three apps. https://affinity.help/designer2/English.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Addons/linkingContent.html&title=Linking custom content across apps
  11. Most similar software uses it's own native file format, just like Affinity does! It doesn't really matter if you call it "Save" or "Export". Affinity files have very few options, so can be saved without needing to change settings. On the other hand, there are many varieties and options for PDF files, so you need to open a dialogue box to make sure you are using the correct settings. It's also worth remembering that an Affinity file can easily be reopened and then "saved" as a PDF. It is not possible to reopen a PDF file in Affinity and regain all the original features and settings.
  12. There is no comparison between a photograph and AI generated images. A good photograph (in the same way as a painting, sculpture etc) requires skill and effort on the part of the artist and results in an original image. AI generated images require no more effort than typing a few words and then letting the AI generate an image for them, usually using other peoples artwork. To be quite honest, I can see the appeal of AI for people who are frustrated artists, without the skills to create genuine artwork themselves, but that is no excuse for taking other peoples original work, messing about with it, and then claiming it as their own!
  13. Doesn't this depend on already having a Windows 10 licence for that PC? - "... you will first need to have a license to install Windows 10". AFAIK Microsoft stopped free upgrades several years ago,
  14. I really hate it when people complain that something in DrawPlus isn't in AD, but, I do miss some of the Quick Shapes, especially the Wave and the Zigzag! (It would be even better if you could apply waves/zigzags to any shape or line.)
  15. Publisher only has the Designer and Photo Personas available if you also have those apps installed. In any case those Personas only have the basic features of the other two full apps. It has been suggested that Publisher should actually include all the features of Designer and Photo, but not only would this make it a very large and unwieldy app, it would also inevitably mean it would cost much more, which would not be helpful for those people who only use Designer and /or Photo. Personally I much prefer having three specialised, separate apps rather than one "does it all" app. Of course all Affinity files can be opened in any of the apps, and can also easily be "opened in" either of the other two apps from the one the file was opened in originally, which makes for a well integrated and very versatile suite of products.
  16. Being pedantic, the flag in the original post is the King's (/Queen's) Colour, (which is carried by Infantry Regiments of the British Army) it is not the same thing as the British (Union) Flag (AKA the Union Jack). According to the College of Arms "For the avoidance of doubt and the sake of convenience, Garter King of Arms, under the authority of the Earl Marshal, has approved two versions of the Union flag as being accurate representations suitable for use. These are of the proportions 5:3, commonly flown on land; and 2:1, commonly flown at sea." The Kingโ€™s Colour, is a variation of the Union Flag, usually with a golden trim and the crest of the regiment in the centre, which has proportions of approximately 3:2. Attached is the correct layout of the Union Flag (5:3 version,) from the College of Arms.
  17. I can't imagine what point there would be in showing the text flow if it didn't also show the text boxes it was flowing out of and in to! (You may have text boxes with no text in them. in that case all you would see would be odd diagonal lines!)
  18. Open your Profile, go to Account Settings (at the top), then click on Signature (on the left).
  19. Having made the selection, copy it (Ctrl + C), then go to File, New from clipboard (Ctrl + Alt +Shift +N). (Just noticed youโ€™re on a Mac, so the shortcuts may be different!)
  20. Like a lot of things in Affinity, it would be nice to just give the user the choice of default save locations!
  21. It's been a while, but, for the sake of completion, I thought I should report that everything is now OK. I tried a few things unsuccessfully, but decided I didn't want to have to reinstall everything unless I really had to. Then it occurred to me that I have virtually the same setup on an old laptop and checked that to see if the same problem was there as well. It wasn't! So, hoping for the best, I copied all the user files from there to my main PC and everything seemed OK. I gave it a couple of weeks and everything now seems fine. I have no idea what caused the problem in the first place, and I'm afraid that my solution will probably not help anyone else, unless they also have an identical setup on another PC! Thanks again for the help.
  22. Personally I prefer files to be saved to the same location I used previously, rather than wherever they were opened from. I don't want to have to keep changing it back to the location I've chosen.
  23. It isn't difficult, it's just that you want to do it differently. If you think Gimp is so much better, why not just use that instead?
  24. I rarely use underlining myself, but on the odd occasion that I need a specific/unusual type of underline, I just draw a line underneath the words and format it as I want!
