We hope to include a glyph panel in 1.6.

SaucyWeeTart reacted to Callum in Typekit/Cloud fonts?
Hi SaucyWeeTart,
Its not something we have any immediate plans for however I will move your post to the Feature Requests section as it would make a good addition to the Affinity suite.

SaucyWeeTart got a reaction from BelalHeS in Typekit/Cloud fonts?
Hi guys,
Wasn't really sure whether to put this in 'Feature Requests' or not, so here it sits.
Before I cancelled most of my Creative Cloud, I used Typekit fairly heavily, and was really impressed with it overall. It got me wondering if a feature like that would work well with the Affinity suite. I'm sure it would but have not got a clue of the logistical/financial issues which may surround it.
Any thought been given to it?
Thanks,
Stu Wilkie.

SaucyWeeTart reacted to MEB in can't unlock some objects
Hi retrograde,
I see your point and i agree, it could be a problem.
I will raise this with the dev team.
Thanks.

SaucyWeeTart reacted to retrograde in can't unlock some objects
Thanks MEB! Sorry, I'm just seeing your response now, any progress?
I am working on a large complex designer piece right now and a right click menu structure to hide, unhide all, hide everything but the selected element/object, and /or lock, unlock all, lock everything but the selected element/object is really going to the top of my wish list of "gotta haves"... :-)
I like to work as "ui free" as possible, going to the layers panel to do these things is taking me out of the flow. I'm probably not the only one, I'm guessing...

SaucyWeeTart reacted to retrograde in can't unlock some objects
Hey MEB, what if I have something locked but I can't find it in the layers panel to unlock it because it's locked and I can't right click on it? Should users always have to go to the layers panel to unlock something. There is an unlock key short but it only works if I have the element selected in the layers panel... if I am going to go to the layers panel to select the element I will just unlock it there
There currently is an "ungroup all" ability, why no "unlock all" ability? I really miss this. Or am I not seeing something?
Edit: it appears that ungroup all actually only ungroups all groups within a group, not all instances of all groups. Hmm.

SaucyWeeTart reacted to AshTeriyaki in „Unlock all“ Command
I'm quite old school and in illustrator I wouldn't spend a long time noodling in the layer stack. But I've got my current workaround. I tend to lock layers a little less and using alt click selections to ignore the object currently under the cursor. But it's not ideal.
What I'd love to see is selection sets, on-the-fly saveable selections of objects you can recall, lock or export in one go. Now thats a power feature!

+1
and please, make the layers panel "jump" to show the actual element on the window. :) it's essential when working with hundreds of elements.

SaucyWeeTart reacted to olafwelling in „Unlock all“ Command
When working on a vector drawing with lots of elements it is usefull to lock Cmd-L those you do not want to touch right now. I got a bit struck and first thought it was bug that CMD-SHIFT-L doesn’t set those elements free again. I understand now, that you still can select the element in the Layer list and use CMD-SHIFT-L then, but to avoid scrolling through a list of several hundred elements it would be nice to have an „Unlock all“ command in the menu. I think, this should apply only to objects (elements), not to layers – what is the opinion of other highly valued foristi?

SaucyWeeTart reacted to nonresidentalien in [ADe] Align/distribute to key object: desperately needed for Scientists
Hi guys,
I have recently switched my whole research group from using AI to using Affinity Designer. However, the thing that every single user heavily complained about, and that really limits the utility of AffinityDesigner for us, is the lack of an option to select a key or reference object that stays put during alignment and distribution operations.
This is very crucial for the preparation of scientific data plots where one really cannot have the data points shifting around when aligning them to their labels. It would also be very helpful for preparing multi-paneled figure etc.
Also, while at it, a 'select same color/stroke/fill/...' feature would be great, and the eyedropper tool could use some attention (eg. for text and vector objects)
Please make these available, and I will promise, that there will be a landslide of scientists moving away from their current overpriced rental software to using Affinity Designer
Thanks
Lars

SaucyWeeTart reacted to JimGoshorn in Artboards should not be mixed with layers, and there should always be one artboard
Gave it some more thought and how about this:
Presuming that there will be both pages and artboards, how about separate panels dedicated to each. When you select a page in the pages panel, all artboards associated with it are highlighted in the artboards panel. Then you select one of the artboards and all layers associated with it are highlighted in the layers panel. It's a little lengthier process but it keeps things both separated and associated. If you wanted the process to be a bit more aggressive, you could set up a kind of isolation where selecting a page isolates all artboards in the artboards panel and selecting an artboard isolates all associated layers in the layers panel.
How's that?

SaucyWeeTart reacted to GRScott in [ADe] Is there any line smoothing? (implemented)
I am just starting to play around with the pencil, pen, and brush and noticed that the lines are smoothing. Do you plan on having a smoothing control for those tools? For drawing, this would be important not to have my lines straighten-out.
Also, while going through the help menu I hit the back arrow in the upper left corner and it does not take me back to the page I entered from. Example, after selecting "About lines and shapes," I hit the back arrow and I don't return to were I can select "About lines and Shapes." I return to "Visual References."
On the positive note, I love the ability to be able to use vector and raster in the same software. That is an all in one drawing program.

SaucyWeeTart reacted to MattP in AutoTrace (convert raster image to vector)
Tracing will come in the future - but it will be a new 'Persona' (one of the main buttons along the top left of the window) so that it can have its own UI and tools. We have a fair few ideas for this - not just the obvious... :) It's not coming any time soon though, I'm afraid to say...
