  1. Hi Guys,

Thought I'd add to this thread instead of starting a new one. I'm on Catalina 10.15.1 and AF 1.7.3 and having the exact same issues as others are having in the 'Unsplash' dropdown. As I type in an actual word, i.e dog, cat, house etc, then AP immediately crashes. If I type a random string of letters, it doesn't. Search results seem to be giving it a problem it seems. 'Pixabay' and 'Pexels'  function as intended.

    I've attached a crash report.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi guys,

I've been trying out Duet Display with Affinity apps for a bit and have ran into a weird issue that I can't seem to get around. When I move some of the panels (layers, for instance) from the external display (iPad Pro) to my main display (Macbook Pro) I lose the ability to access the top bar of said panels which you require to drag them around. I assume this is because the 2 displays are set to different resolutions therefore the layers panel appears a bit bigger when I move it and cuts the top of the panel from view.

I've tried Window > Clean Up Floating Windows and it doesn't seem to do a thing. Any advice? Kind of stuck with panels in my way at the moment which means my work day has effectively stopped. Which is good and bad.

    I've attached a screenshot.

    Thanks.

    Hi SaucyWeeTart,

    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)

If the original (first) circle was a symbol, yes, it would be possible to replace it with a rectangle. If not, i'm afraid there's no way to do it automatically.

    Hi MEB,

Unfortunatly not. It's another designers PDF I got handed and asked to edit. I think it may have been done originally in Illustrator...

    Thanks anyway.

  4. Well, I guess to answer my initial question, it's an feature on the OS level and not in Designer, so there's that.

With regards to how Font Book and OSX handle fonts, who the hell knows. I've been messing about for a few hours, disabling/enabling/deleting/reinstalling fonts and I can't work out what the process is. As RC-R says he never has any dimmed fonts in the list therefore can't download them. I do have all dimmed fonts available and can download/delete as I see fit, however a work colleague of mine has dimmed fonts but a slightly different overall list. And don't get me started on how to work out what fonts you can safely disable or delete.

Very weird, I don't get it Apple.

  5. Hi guys,

Just started up Designer 1.6 and was wondering how it's possible to download the free assets that seem to be bundled in this update if I seemingly don't have a store account?

Had a quick look through the forums and it seems to elude to the fact that I won't have an official account because I made my purchases through the Mac app store.

    Am I missing something obvious?

    Cheers!

  6. To be honest, part of me still believes that they are still actively developing a DAM but they have recieved so much hysteria over it that they have changed thier official position and are now denying it until it's more production ready.

And frankly, who could blame them. Some posts I see on here from self-entitled morons is pretty irritating. If I had to moderate this forum, I'd go postal.

  7. Hey guys,

Just 3 days ago, and after a pretty difficult chat support session, I've completely quit my Adobe habit with the removal of Lightroom/PS, and it's very liberating. I'm now a free man!

I'm now trying to finesse a photography workflow with the Affinity apps front and center. My current setup is I own Photo for both OSX and iOS but after the last couple of shoots I'm finding it very difficult to replace Lightroom in there.

Now, I know the fervor of an Affinity DAM is pretty intense, and I also know that it's confirmed for development, but I'm sure we won't see it for quite some time yet. Therefore, what do you guys use in it's place as of now?

I should also mention that because the storage space on both my iPad Pro and my MacBook is fairly limited, I keep all my files in a master folder on Dropbox and use oDrive to sync/unsync my files as I need them.

With Lightroom, my old workflow was as follows:

    • Move images from camera to new job folder on OSX, they then get auto synced to Dropbox by oDrive
    • Open images in LR and save LR catalog file in the same folder as the images are in (again, gets fired up to Dropbox by oDrive)
    • Do required edits to images in LR, and on exit LR will auto update catalog with newest data and edits
    • Unsync new job folder with oDrive and everything gets auto synced to Dropbox

Pretty much it. The devs at oDrive said they are releasing a mobile version of thier app - which is fantastic news and that would certainly make life easier to use with AP on iOS.

So, what does your workflow look like? I'd like to find one that preserves non-destructive edits in the way LR cataloging used to. Not played with AP too much so really not sure if it's already included functionality.

    Cheers,

    Stu W.

  8. Hey,

Was just having a tinker about with the new beta and noticed that the Glyph Browser is still displaying glyphs in a weird way. It seems to be... streched, or squashed. It's not on all fonts but a fair few.

Also, would it not make more sense for the browser to jump to whatever typeface you've just clicked on? Unless I'm missing something, having to manually change the font in the browser can be a bit time consuming.

Thanks, and great work on the beta so far!

  9. I have waited the past year also--and am happy so far. I"m a long time user of other programs for last 17 years (Capture One, PS and LR and others--and am currently an Adobe CC subscriber but wanting to ditch the subscription route). My biggest need now is a DAM for my Mac which I'm researching. My other question is if the Mac and Ipad versions of Affinity Photos are able to be linked in some way.

The only thing still tying me to the Adobe CC is Lightroom, so I'm also on the hunt for a good DAM. Affinity have mentioned that they are going to develop one but I think it'll be quite a wait until it appears. Tell you what though, when the day comes that I'm sitting on Designer, Photo, Publisher AND an Affinity DAM, I'll be made up.

And what do you mean by 'linked'? In what way?

  10. Hey,

This is just a quick message to the Serif team.

I've been tinkering about with your Photo app for the iPad all night and I must say, it's very impressive. For about a year, my 12.9" iPad Pro has been on the brink of being sold because it hasn't once lived up to it's much touted 'pro' status (mainly due to the apps on offer). Photo has absolutely changed that for me. It still has a good few bugs here and there but to knock out an app of this quality is very impressive.

    Seriously guys, well bloody done.

  11. Typical heads-in-sand replies so far. Affinity was launched as a Photoshop contender and I was one of the first to buy it. Right from the outset they knew what they had to do to capitalise on claims made but somewhere along the way it ran out of steam. I go back to it now and then but development seems to have come to a halt. I WANT a Photoshop contender but Affinity has not made the progress its launch promised.

Your level of entitlement is almost palpable.

If you're that bothered, why don't you go out there and make an alternative yourself?
