  1. When I try and click an object many times it selects an object far off. It will do this consistently in this document. I'm using the Mac. It seems to happen in every Affinity product with the files that have the problem. This was a PDF originally that I started with. I can select objects behind by holding down option and clicking. The selection perimeter of the top most object is very large. Is there something I'm doing wrong? This happens on other documents too, but not all. Here is the video:

  2. I just want to tell you my appreciation for Serif listening to customers, even when it requires patience on our end. I use the programs everyday. For 90% of our work it has completely replaced Adobe. I wouldn't be surprised that once PDF passthrough is enabled and works that we will be at 99% for creative production and newspaper.

Unfortunately there is no replacement for Acrobat and the plugins that we use all the time.

The ability for Serif to be able to have all three of their programs ready for a new platform on day of release of the OS is a testament to their dedication for their software and customers for the future.

Adobe, on the other hand, hopes to have Lightroom by the end of the year and Photoshop out next year. Nothing about Indesign or Illustrator. I'm sure it's a mess of code because of years of just adding in without making sure was optimized.

    Thank you and God bless!

  3. I like the new select menu. It's a huge improvement and will save me a bunch of time converting the colors in PDF files to real black rather than the RGB blacks output by MS word. That will work with other things too!

I'm not sure about the contour tool that the stroke (or appearance) couldn't do before, other than the bake feature. The stroke width can accommodate by creating an outline and then sending it to the back. Another current option in 1.8.4 is outline in the FX panel. Both ways are recognized in our RIP. What advantage am I missing in the contour tool?

Great job to all of you at Serif!

  4. That is the issue as soon as you relink hte first one it starts the spinning beach ball. I do have an update. I let it sit for hours and it finally came through and finished. Even though it finished, it was wrong because it linked to the first page of the PDF document. That is a bug that must be fixed, and hopefully soon. I then went and updated each and every page with the correct page of the PDF. Something is not right when links take that long, considering that is the point of links to make the document more manageable.

  5. A PDF with mulitple pages that is placed into a Publisher document relinks wrong if the link was missing and then replaced. All pages that were NOT page 1 suddenly all link to page 1.

In the attachment you see they are four pages of the same.

Though that is not what was assigned - see here:

This is consistently a problem. Not to mention the file is practically unusable because it is so slow.

    I'm running 1.8.4 on MacOS 10.15.6 (19G2531

How quick can I get a fix on this because this is serious and I thought I would use Publisher for a big book?

    thank you!

  6. hello,

I have a large file that I made yesterday for printing. There is no text, only scanned PDF's. The file construction went beautifully--All 122 pages. Very little if any lag was present. The file itself is only 37MB but the links are 3.6GB

Today, I attempt to make a minor change of one page of a PDF to another in the link and it just freezes or very long lags.

I thought it was because I was running over a server, though, I was yesterday too. But when I tried local, the file would never even open even after 20 minutes of "Loading".

My computer should be not be underpowered it's i9, 16" MBP with 64GB RAM and 2TB of space.

It seems that Affinity is too connected to links, even when they are not embedded.

Everything else seems to work fine.

Is there anything I can do?

  7. I know this has been reported in the past but we still seem to have this issue and that is that PDF page sizes do not export to the correct size. They are off by up to 5/1000th of an inch. Here is an example:

    539218242_ScreenShot2020-09-10at10_30_24AM.thumb.jpg.0b297c6eb9c4aacc28232d28886f3418.jpg

So in this example you have a ready to print PDF but on the left the page size is 5.503x2.130 while it's supposed to be what affinity shows and that is 5.5x2.125. This may not seem like a big problem but it really delays our Quite Imposing automation for printing. The file then has to be manually cropped in Acrobat. This happens with almost all files with multiple artboards.

I have been told that I need to use for pixel alignment and that should correct it - I keep it on and I still get these results.

Is there a way to resolve it on my end or is something that Serif must do?

    thanks!
