we will not mention the other program .... but if there is one thing that they do and I miss in affinity designer , thats the shape builder tool.
please, i am sure that im not the first one to ask for it. but it is almost essential for some of us.
    keep doing the great work.

Wow, thanks for posting that @Mithferion
Now that I see it in action I can start to see the possibilities and understand why people are asking for a similar thing in Designer.

It's a really quick way to create shapes by combining/subtracting parts of overlaping objects (the more objects you have, the more you will see how this Tools saves you a lot of time). Here is an example:
    Best regards!

    Hi Bomatick,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums :)
With the object selected, go to menu Layer ▸ Expand Stroke.

sometimes I find it really time consuming sifting through the tutorials in this forums would it be possible to separate the tutorials into subforms?  For now designer and photo forums would be great and in the future perhaps one for publisher tutorials.

Welcome to the Affinity Forums, cghearn. :)

For exact object placement, use the controls in the Transform panel. You can type an expression such as +=50 if you want to move the selected object(s) by a precise number of units in the x or y direction.

Because this is related I will post it here (apology if I'm wrong to bump):

I request a shortcut key for pasting in front and behind with shortcut keys.

    Example:
    CTRL + F = paste front
    CTRL + B = paste back

keeping "CTRL + B" of different with "CTRL + B" of [paste back]. As font weight toggle when a selection has text and paste back when selection isn't related to text. Perhaps a different shortcut key altogether to avoid problems like pasting text behind a text where both input applies.

The File -> Export dialog should remember which type you last used, so that next time it is initialised correctly. The Export Persona has a 'Defaults' option in the Export Options panel that let you specify the default output types you'd like to use when creating export areas/slices. However, if you mean the 'default file type' of the application itself then it will always be '.afdesign', our native file format (i.e. what you get when you press 'Save'). Designer expresses things in different ways to other applications so you'd lose so much information if your export was always to a non-native file format.

Is there a way to select a default file type (AI, EPS, PDF, etc.) in Designer?
