While doing the tutorial on Ketchup for Blood. I followed it to the letter, even retracing each step of the trainer. I could not select the right corner handle and get the red resizing ring to extend. After discussions with members, they suggested selecting Smart Mode in the Pen tool was the reason. The handles do not look like the corner tutorial or the Ketchup for Blood tutorial. Instead of blue square handles they are too small to grab and and they won't pull out with the red ring. When I recreated the design from scratch, the corner tool behaved perfectly, and that was using Smart Mode. So that is a mystery to me. Maybe it is something I did, so I am willing to send the project file for examination, but it does seem this corner tool is not consistent. Please let me know. I have attached this link that shows the handles are round instead of square HERE. Let me know if you need more file(s) and/or info as it is all saved. Michael

Thanks for the tip Alfred. They actually use smart curves in the tutorial, so I wondered about that too. See the first attached the larger size of the handles on the completely recreated project. They are clearly large enough to pull out. Now the cornering looks like blood dripping down the front cover. Following the tutorial on Ketchup for Blood. I can select the right corner handle and get the red resizing ring, but the left one gives me a rectangle selection that disappears when I let go of the selection and handle handle gets that little orange glow about it but refuses to move. I saved the file and reopened it, with the same result. The I opened it in AD 1.5.4, still won't move the handle. The handles do not look like the corner tutorial or the Ketchup for Blood tutorial. Instead of blue square handles they are really small. Should I send the project file? Sorry if this seems like cross-posting, but I posted this UGEE M1000L tablet (made by Huion), and got no reply, so I went ahead and bought it, as I had store credit which would have run out. Then I saw this found this thread. I would appreciate some comment as it's a 4000lpi as opposed to the Huion 1060Plus which is 5080. Will that make much difference to a first time tablet user? R-C-R, I agree with your above statement. I found this thread when searching for "business model", and this was the closest hit. It's a terrific discussion and was reluctant to break in until I saw your above comment, which speaks directly to my questions... Affinity only charge for major revisions, i.e. 1.x, 2.x, etc, (which I will gladly pay for); they sell ADW (which I love btw) and the promised APW, then apart from a yet-to-be-announced release of APu (5 years in development), what else is there to keep Affinity growing and bringing in revenue as you said above? I am using PPX9 for now and will commit to APu when it is released. Such a late bloomer in the DTP market is bound to have real advantages to get users to switch, so I wonder what is the Affinity business model? Michael.

Same here. And for the same reasons. I appreciated your workflow comments. We are keeping all the text source and PDFs and hanging in for APu, and realist there will be no PP compatibility for the project files. it's pretty hard to pass up the legacy price for PPX9 when compared to VivaDesigner or ID. I just decided to get an entry graphics tablet. I do a little photo retouching with APh, and some of my design work in AD is quite repetive, so I can see a tablet with express keys coming in handy. Does anyone have experience with the UGEE M1000L it's a 4000 lpi. made by Huion, a smaller model to the popular 1060 Plus (5080 lpi). [EDITED] The deal was ending, so I just bought it anyway. Pease still respond, as I am still interested in members' observations and/or experiences. Is this tablet enough to get my feet wet? I have a 13" MacBook, but plan to get a 27" iMac soon. Would this size tablet be ok for MacBook for now? Also, are there any unique features of the Wacom Intuos models that I would not get with this model that I may find useful with AD and/or AP? I just decided to dip my toes into tablets. Don't really do any retouching, but some repetitive design, and want to play around with inking. This is Mac compatible. Andy, this is the most amazing beta upgrading service I have seen in my 38 years in the profession. AD and AP have been great investments for my business so far, and the betas just keep on coming without crashing drama--production stable. Take a well deserved bow Affinity Team. Michael

HI Mike, Common sense I guess, still had to ask ;) Did you use Lanczos 3 (separable) for resampling for the same reason, or do you suggest nearest neighbor? Could you explain some of the export options, effects of them, and your choice, notwithstanding printery's requirements. Michael
