Steve1 got a reaction from presch in Where is command line to be found so as to fix aero requirement in windows ?
    Hi,

so the command line is not in the progs interface but in the properties box for the shortcut, I would never have twigged that !

I am able to run a CAD prog on Classic, the poster who didnt use Aero was able to run AD, if I get problems then i wont raise them as they will be blamed on avoiding Aero, that is a bit of a blow, no support in other words if faults occur with its performance, but this is the first time I have come across a prog needing Aero or be told to forget it. I have loads of video CAD and raster progs. Aero messes with fundamental display of text in windows and caused me 3 months of trying to solve them until I found out about Aero being the cause. Aero can take a hike, forever ! 3 months to get an efficient functional PC, ended up using Classic Shell and Classic mode, as did 10,000 others.
A graphics prog needs crisp black text, even now text is not perfect thanks to an XP mod being dropped which gave perfect black text, thats the Msoft logic, if its perfect meddle with it. Just dread the day Msoft think we must use finger tips to do CAD with.

Steve1 got a reaction from Aammppaa in Alter guideline colour & location and have artwork over guides ?
    Hi,
Is there no way to have guidelines whatever colour we desire ? That line is too dark a blue. I have a colour calibrated screen .
I work in mm for everything except text, and I drew a 0.2mm line.

You say the only way to move a line is to firstly select it in layers panel, but how do I know which of the lines in there it is ?

I am so used to just selecting things on screen and moving them, be that in CAD or in Freehand, to have to find items in a palette before being able to  move them is very counter intuitive and slow by comparison. Is this how AD is, select item in palette to move it, i.e can't select it on page without guideline also moving ?

The guide line is definitely over the black line, I zoomed in and saw it as such, objects should sit over guides. I cant see the black line after its drawn.

Fundamental stuff is this, bit worrying. In a hurry, simple job write Seasons Greetings and have cut marks for a card inside face yet had to revert to Freehand for speed as I couldn't even see or move the cut lines.

The ability to drag out guides, double click them and enter mm value, so quick, AD is slow as cant see which  one is which in palette.
In Freehand to delete a guide simply drag it of the page, in AD need try to find it in palette.

This having to try and find in palette lines or guides is not as fast as simply clicking on the item we wish to modify.

yes AD will be better but Freehand had some basic great functions, and those that had to go over to Illustrator still love Freehand.

Has the AD team studied the functions in Freehand I wonder.
