  1. Used the canon Print Studio Pro on friends computer on Photoshop. This plugin makes printing life a lot easier. Cannot wait for it to be a plugin on Affinity Photo!!!
  2. I am trying to print from Affinity photo to a Canon Pro 10 printer on a Mac running Catalina. I am not sure from tests that I have done that Affinity photo is able to control the print. My procedure is as follows: 1) Select print from APh 2) In the print dialogue box select ColorSync and then icc for paper. 3) can select other items necessary. I suspect that APh has handed over the file to the Mac OS to do the printing? A kind of hands off approach? Problem is that there is no rendering intent selection. I hope I am wrong on this as Photoshop is providing more control over the printing and I would hate to have to go back to photoshop. If anyone could help me out here, it would be much appreciated.
  3. Thanks Gabe. Glad you say "for now". Not being able to use the mask layers is tough :-).
  4. I placed the pixel layer in the group so as to make the group work. Without the Pixel layer in the group. To test, remove the pixel layer, select the adjustment layers in the group named printing and run a print. Now turn off Printing group and run another print. You will see that both prints look identical.
  5. Here is the file. thanks for looking at it. test_layers.afphoto
  6. I tried making the adjustment layers a child of the background but that did not work for me. My workaround is to make the background layer a Child layer in the adjustment group I use for printing. Thank you for your response.
  7. I have made a test file to send to you. The compressed file is 64 mb. Not sure how or where to send the file. I have attached a copy of my layers palette

  9. I had this problem the day before yesterday after updating to Catalina. My solution was to open up the mac preferences and delete the canon printer driver. I then redownloaded the driver from the Canon site, it appears they have recently been updated. The new reinstalled driver worked somehow as I now see the Canon icc's in the soft proofing.
  10. After grouping adjusting layers in Photo, I have discovered that it affects the print. In some way, it is as if by placing adjustments into a group it turns them off. I have checked all adjustment layers to see that they are on. After, I realized that the grouping caused the problem, I have ungrouped and then the prints come out fine. But now I preferred to group my adjustments into two groups, one for web and the other for printing. I can no longer do this. Working on Mac version 10.15 and Affinity photo 1.7.3
  11. Take a photo and make a print. Then adjust the photo with Levels, Curves and masks and make a print. Then group all the adjustment layers together and make another print. You will notice that the print done after all the adjustment layers are grouped matches the print that was done without any adjustments. That is the problem
  12. DXF SUPPORT Please!!! I have been hanging on to Affinity Designer hoping that DXF support was going to happen. For now, I transfer files through an old copy of Illustrator CS6 to make files for 3D modelers and CNC work. With the update of Mac OS this is no longer going to be possible illustrator CS6 will no longer run on the Mac OS. The sad news is that I will be forced into the hands of ADOBE :-(.
  13. As part of my workflow, I am exporting from Form Z to Illustrator, using dwg. Would like to replace Illustrator with AD but cannot until this feature is provided. Please add DWG Import Export
  14. Hi All, I am very new to Affinity, in fact I just bought it :-). I am so excited to see that there is a way out of Adobe's clutches. Hooray to the AD team and a big thank you. I am presently testing AD to see if I can make the switch. One of the main features that I use in Illustrator is the 'Snapping'. The reason I use Illustrator is to create vector drawings for making Marquetry. In a marquetry one has thousands of shapes which have to be precisely matched to each other, much like a jigsaw puzzle. I create this by bringing in a jpeg and then converting the edges to a vector line image. The vector line image needs to be exact so I then take the anchor points of adjoining shapes and match them up to each other by snapping. I have been trying to use the snap tools in AD and am a little frustrated as I cannot seem to 'snap' to an anchor point of an adjoining shape. What would be really nice, is if when one hovered over an anchor point or node that it would light up so that you could know that you were snapping to that anchor point. Maybe this is possible and I have not yet worked out how to do it. Many thanks
