"Serif - Professional creative software". Its statement on their pages. Its not fun free project. I must insist on what i said. At this stage its not suitable for professional work. (i mean, by the functions , not because it may fall / die / delete your data). To me its like betatesting car with square wheels. You CAN move forward. Yes.  You can make rich publication, but when you change two sentences in the beginning, you have to manually move all the images, elements, tables etc. Fun in 50 pages publication with more than 100 images, icons. But, yes, you can.
Another thing is, where i just simply dont understand it, Serif have long term development of other DTP products, like pagePlus. How its even possible they release (even to "beta") such incomplete version? When they know, how people work with their products?
If you will start telling me that they may add the features... I asked about inserting objects into text, anchoring. Answer was - not in distant future, not in version 1.7 Too complicated. If this is true, serif didnt change their mind, and i didnt understood it wrong, than we have months, maybe year+ of development till first usable version for professional use. (.1 version in designer is 1y+ as far i follow the builds)
I dont think that im insulting the dev team. Im very impressed by their work. They work hard. Im still thinking, that this project is needed as salt.
Still, if there are not such basic things , its maybe alpha testing. really not beta testing of software for professional use.

its more and more to me, as if you released (to beta testing) some pre-alfa version without tons of very needed functions for professionals.
Well in my opinion, if you aim for multi page layout, this is must-have no matter what. Same, as the anchored images / objects, adding objects into the table, aswell anchored and data merge.
Without these things its not much usable for larger professional work.
This is not about whining or demanding things, its just that im a bit disappointed from the result, im waiting for over 2years. I hope that this software will one day replace the indesign, as i dont want to use it just because of adobe's philosophy.

But sadly not today, and sadly, not in distant future

Is there way to flow the table over more pages? like when i add one more row on page one and the last row, that would otherwise be out of the page, flows to page 2 ?

for me its multipage tables. indesign CS6 (2013) which is last non-subscription version is capable to do this flawlessly, and its old as hell.  Try to do catalogues or scientific documents or even larger manuals without this. Its pain in a** . Im asking for this feature with many professionals since release. So still have to have installed CS6 for some work.

To me personally, version 2 is overhyped, esp. publisher and its more like GUI change, and more like version 1.11 than 2.0. That overmarketinged "something big is comming" only damaged the product. Its not big. its few features that have been asked years, and money request. But on the other side, i have no problem pay them again, even every year, for upgrade. Its not a problem. And as i stated few months maybe years ago, also would pay way more to get fully working professional suite without significant bugs (forexample, on PC, there was no acceleration for AMD high end cards, with information, that its bug in AMD drivers, which was ofc nonsense -  as we see version 2 working accelerated without problems, and in meantime, plenty of graphic programms, using same acceleration also without problems).
Only thing i was really waiting for ages was designer's warp, even 4 corners skew would do the trick. What suprises me is, that its non destructive and very good designed. Thumbs up.
So yea. A bit salty, but did buy version 2 not because of being big, but to support the devs.

postmaddesign  - sorry, but tables across more pages is basic feature, and we are asking for it since beginning. Also its weird, as serif have very long history with their DTP suite before affinity. Argumenting with many years of indesign also isnt fair, because its  different time, with different tools and workframes in programming. and yeaa. tables were in indesign very soon. So no, we are not being negative only, we just wish that the focus in the development is on things that are preventing to do our jobs with this tool.

And again. As i said, i supported the devs with buing v2, becase i believe in their work.
    Howgh.

Yeah, I have to say, I scrolled down the 'whats new' page and couldn't believe there were no multipage tables.  How many catalogs, scientific documents, tech specs etc need this?  It makes me sad, but with no sign of this after waiting years for v2, I'm not inclined to upgrade.  Some of the 'nice to have' items they've done without ticking this off - the prioritisation seems really off.

I would have thought product catalogues, if not printed reports, are a basic use case for a publishing tool.  Your reply might be appropriate if I was asking the tool to generate audiobooks or perform some function unrelated to publishing.

is it possible to do such things in affinity suite, or i need some other software?

mac_heibu - sure, you are welcome

MikeW - thank you for your offer, ill take a look. On the other hand, i had nothing specific in mind, i just did some research few days ago, and did not find anything special that affinity have ontop QX so i was really curious what mac_heibu had in mind. Sadly, that part stayed without any answer.
Errka Petti - im not whining. Im not understanding how anyone with 26 y of praxis doing DTP software can release this software even as beta. thats all. Its just my opinion. And people are starting at me. Fine, i will then explain my statement. But, you can have different point of view. Again, fine, have it.
To be honest, i dont understand what you ment by WYSIWYG when we talk about software for professional use and not some fan project.
I was looking forward to have whole my creative process in software from one single company. So simply yes, ill have to buy QX or stay with ID few years till AP grows up to meet my needs.

ErrkaPetti ohoho... now im payed great. Didnt know that... By adobe  omg. yes. exactly. Cmon. Does that mean that when someone does not have exact same opinion as you, than he is wrong, trolling, payed? Personal attacks are allways welcome, when people have lack of arguments.
To my "agony" posts -  Yes, maybe someone from serif will read this and maybe, they will solve the things i (well MANY people if you read trough the posts dedicated to anchoring) see crucial. I hope for it, very much. So one day ill get rid of adobe.

That is.. for the lack of a better word -- kind of a shitty response. Expanding a stroke is quite a basic command and often used, after 3 years and it's still broken, will it ever be fixed I wonder. Not asking, just pondering.

Problem could be related to the used images. Without images - as they are all linked - the document opens on my PC without a problem. The hard way would be to add the images one by one to see where the problem is.

i really dont understand one thing. there are few things, that are making this software a jewel on the market. On the other hand, long-term long-asked features and bugs, that are making professionals move away from it. Why? Such stupid thing like free transform. or broken expand stroke. years here.  Rotating, scaling group of nodes, its finally here! Hurray.  after years asking.

Still, you better develop in meantime version for ipad.
