  1. I have purchased a vector from Shutterstock (ref 2061740762). It is a photo-realistic image of a paint drum, which says it “… contains an accurate mesh to wrap your artwork with correct envelope distortion”. The idea is you write your own label, which wraps around the vector of the paint drum, so you can produce images of many different labelled drums. However, this vector seems to be designed specifically for use with Ai (Adobe Illustrator). I am liaising with Shutterstock, who keep saying it can be used with software other than Ai, but I can’t find anything in Designer that is ‘mesh to wrap your artwork’. In Designer, the vector just appears as a number of layers of tiff images. The latest advice from Shutterstock, specific to Ai, said: “You can find the mesh in the Mock Up folder under "Drum" and is named "Design". After adding your text, you should go to object > envelop distort > make with top object, so the text will then wrap to the shape of the mesh. If you are using other software rather than Ai, you may find the layers in different orders, but as I mentioned the effect works perfectly.” To repeat, all my ‘layers’ are just tiff images, I can't find any 'Mock Up folder' or anything else they outline. Does anyone have any ideas if this information/these resources are lurking somewhere in Designer that I am not familiar with? Or am I right in thinking that you can really only use this type of vector in Ai itself? Thanks for any help!
  2. Wow, thanks John, that's hugely clever stuff, which I can't say I understand but it seems to work! Thanks a lot. It gives something similar to what I achieved but it looks more 'normal' so it's great, thanks. Can't work out hwat to do with the macro though - downloaded it, but don't know how to actually use it?
  3. Hi – I wonder if there is any way in Affinity Designer and/or Photo of doing the following. Imagine a can, say like a can of paint. I can draw a can that looks fairly 3D-ish, and/or use a photo of an actual can and overlay something. I then have a whole range of 2D labels, basically rectangles with text and logos on, that I want to paste over the can graphic (or can photo) in such a way that it looks distorted, like it’s actually wrapped around the can, like a real label would. I have played about with Mesh Warp and Perspective in Photo for ages, but can’t get anything that looks any good, and I can’t find anything in Designer that seems to do anything like this. I’ve read on the web that Photoshop does have some very limited 3D capabilities, and indeed I’ve spoken to someone who said they’ve done something like this in Photoshop (allegedly), but they could not give me any details (and I don’t have Photoshop anyway). Any suggestions what I could do in Designer/Photo?
  4. Anyone know how to do this? It's easy in Office, Publisher etc. but can't find anything in AD?
