I’m sorry but I don’t buy the ‘more options are better’ argument  it is just bad design to have two features that essentially do the same thing.
Doing so makes it confusing because the app is more cluttered. It also makes it more difficult for different people to pick up working on a document that another person has worked on.
It’s all very well being in your own bubble but it is essential that it is as easy as possible for someone to open a document and immediately get to work on the the file. If there are different ways of achieving essentially the same thing, it is going to make it challenging.
I don’t mind which it is, and unless someone can provide a compelling use case for having them both, we should have either ‘based on ‘ or ‘group styles’.
Folders on the other hand would be very handy. Perhaps even better would be tags so that you could sort / search them as required on the fly.

I do end up with quite a lot of spurious 'v's in my documents
Having first pressed Esc,  v will toggle between selection tool and text tool as originally described.

You can also click & drag horizontally on a field name (like on the "x" or "w" text itself) to change the value.

@dominik Only within a specific post.
For example if you were considering replying to the OP but saw a little message "Aammppaa is typing" you might consider holding off for a few minutes to see whether I wrote anything worth reading!
@walt.farrell Yes but it only tells you once they have posted rather than while they are writing.
It isn't really a serious suggestion, just an acknowledgement that it is frustrating when posts clash and you get two excellent but identical answers.

    Hello @alsarraf,
you can click on the artboard's name and this will select the entire artboard. You can SHIFT+click on multiple artboard names and select those you want to move.

I think pressing v types the letter 'v' with the Text Tool enabled
You first have to press ESC and then v to switch from the Text Tool to the Move Tool. Pressing t switches back to the Text Tool.
(Note: I may be wrong because I'm not at my Affinity computer right now).

Aammppaa reacted to Dave Harris in Visually edit tabs
It's by design. The tabstops along the top edge are positioned relative to the right edge of the column instead of the left. You can see the difference if you make the column wider. It's intended to do a similar job to right-tab in Indesign, but in a more general way. A common use would be to right-align page numbers in a header.

Weren't the Boolean operations added to the toolbar in 1.7.0.58 or did I add them there myself via customize toolbar?
Either way, I have them on my toolbar in Publisher and Alt clicking works just as it does in Designer.

Yes ! Slightly pink (natural strawberry colour). But the design has changed for a print on paper.  Less sexy but less plastic...

You can nest an unlimited number of objects within a parent object.
Can't you simply put all your images inside the text?
Create your type and drag anything you want clipped inside the text within the layers panel.

Aammppaa got a reaction from SrPx in Paint behind the raster line art
Is the line art on a transparent background, or white?
If it is on white then you need to deal with that first - there are various ways.
One method would be to set the line art to Multiply blend mode.
Photo also has an Erase White Paper filter which often works well. (Filters > Colour)

I am seeing Previews on my PC.
At the top right of the Text Styles panel is a small menu. Can you click it and check whether Preview is selected.

Hey man, thanks. I followed your advice and found the discussions.
Now another question, later I tried joining other two different shapes using the ADD operation and the gap was still there. Can you tell me why that happened? I remedied that adding a third shape between them.

If you disable Edit All Layer bottom left of Layers Panel then I think Select All is limited to the current artboard.
However, I generally find that disabling edit all layers to be a pain in the bum.
Especially as I can't see a way to bind a keypress to the toggle
