  1. @blessrain Welcome to the forum. It is probably better to start a new thread about you question, because it is a different issue than all of the preceding discussion. That said, it looks to me like you have antialiasing on the shadow because you have increased the Intensity right up towards 100%. In my experience values greater than ~80% create hard edges which are, in most cases, unusable. Perhaps there is another approach that will get the end result that you are looking for, without using the Outer Shadow effect?
  2. The 1.7 beta introduces a new tool - "Point Transform Tool". It can rotate / scale / translate around any point, and can use all of Affinity's numerous snapping options. As yet I don't think we can shear about a user defined point - but I'm not sure I can even visualize what that would mean, so I for one probably don't need that function!
  3. Always a good idea to search the forum. Many (if not most) issues have been looked at before. https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/search/&q="At least one file is currently being opened"&sortby=relevancy Hope this sorts your problem
  4. Check that your line doesn't have a pressure profile assigned. At present lines can't have a dash pattern and a pressure profile. Pressure overrides the dashed option, but doesn't show any warning.
  5. At present it can't be done (easily) in Affinity - because it is just a bitmap image stretched along the path, not a true vector shape.
  6. Yes. You can snap handle in the 1.7 beta (which has been available and in rapid development for many months now). Handles not only snap to the grid, but can also follow all other snapping options.
  7. Try installing it again - several times if necessary. In my experience it always works eventually. For example I downloaded and installed the three 1.7.0.293 Betas yesterday… Publisher failed 1st try, succeeded on the 2nd. Designer failed on the 1st and 2nd attempts, succeeded on the 3rd. Photo installed 1st try. This type of behaviour has happened for me since ~1.6.5 If the install fails, I simply run it again straight away - no reboot, no shutting other applications. You can look at the log files in Temp / Affinity Setup and search for the word Error to see why the installation failed. For me it is always "Error writing to file: C:\Config.Msi\d27bf3c.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory." Of course your experience my vary.
  8. v1.7 (currently in public beta) allows you to apply multiple strokes to a path. Studio > Appearance > Add Stroke Layering 4 strokes is a reasonable approximation of the desired effect, and will definitely be vector. Alternatively in 1.6 you can use Symbols to make the wire. Draw the wire path. Convert it to a symbol. Duplicate. Desync and change the top copy to be thinner stroke width and choose hilight colour. Turn sync back on. Changes to the shape of the wire will now affect the base tone and the hilight.
  9. I doubt that a filename can include a square root symbol or perhaps the vertical pipe?! Update: Nope that isn't it. Affinity intelligently removes the invalid symbols from a file name. Update 2: I was working in 1.7 beta which doesn't produce the error, however testing again in 1.6, hover over the Red X warning and you will see a tooltip… "The Slice has file path errors." "The file path contains prohibited characters" So I was right first time!
  10. This is not correct. Publisher's Designer and Photo Personas (and hence the unique features / studios of each product) will only be available if you own licensed copies of Designer and Photo respectively. If you don't own them you will be limited to the tools of Publisher itself, which is what we have in the current Beta phase.
  11. https://affinity.help/designer/English.lproj/pages/Tools/tools_node.html Join Curves button is on the context toolbar of the Node Tool. You can set your own keyboard shortcut via… Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts > Node Tool > Join Curve
  12. Good find - there is a bug here. I don't think Photo has the Point Transform Tool, so this is a Designer bug?
  13. It seems like this should be possible, but it doesn't actually work. If I have one object selected then +=2mm successfully adds 2mm to the existing width. With multiple objects selected and Transform Objects Separately enabled +=2% works just fine. But +=2mm adds 2mm to the last selected object, but scales the others by a percentage (the ratio of the original size of the last selected object, to its new size). I suspect this is a bug or an oversight in the current implementation.
  14. Check out the 1.7 beta. It has much improved options for transforming and aligning nodes including using on canvas handles.
  15. Psenda has already provided the best workaround… Note: This only works in 1.7 beta Inset two guides (on vertical and one horizontal) at 0.5px In the Grid Manager > show Grid Origin Drag grid origin to intersection of guides (0.5, 0.5) Set grid to 1px 1 division. Ensure snap to grid is turned on. Draw stuff! Yes this is a a pain to set up. Yes Affinity should be smarter and do it automatically. But you can save a blank file as a template with this grid setup.
  16. @GarryP I find that my glasses create a red/brown line on one side of certain objects, and a blue/green line on the opposite side. The stripy wallpaper at my mum's house shows the effect particularly strongly!
  17. Do you wear glasses? Or possibly contact lenses? Do you still see the line without your glasses on?
  18. Yes still happening for me in 1.7.0.284 Sorry GIF is a bit crappy, but the last frame shows that simply dragging with the mouse is enough to cause the grid to jump back to Isometric.
  19. Version 1.7 of Photo (and Designer + Publisher) let you create presets for document size etc. You can try the Beta versions now - just head to the Beta Forums. They install in parallel with the Retail version, so no risk.
  20. The original question is ambiguous. I interpreted it as… Select two objects (for example a red square and a blue circle) Swap the fills between the two objects (to get a blue square and a red circle) But I could be wrong!
  21. I agree. I have already reported all of these issues and suggestions in various bug reports and feature requests going back 2 years now. Plus many functions simply do not appear, so can't have shortcuts set (for example Lock Children, Show Rotation Center, Polyline subtool of the Pen Tool) A real shame there has been no improvement. Perhaps it is still not too late for 1.7?
  22. This came up a while back… Don't think the discussion led anywhere very fruitful!
