EdK got a reaction from v_kyr in My Affinity Photo User Guide, 2nd ed.
I’m continuing on with my downloadable user guide project. Here’s the 2nd edition. It adds a Part 3 to the 1st ed, Example Editing Projects, which currently contains five projects. More projects will be added periodically – about 4 a month. I’ve also added an index, but it’s still early days while I work that out.
The first four projects were posted individually here on my site. I’ve included the fifth one in today’s post (as well as in the 2nd edition).
The 4th & 5th (and all future) projects have a downloadable copy of the starting image for the project. You can download it and follow along with the editing steps. Also, links to all of Serif’s official documentation are available throughout the guide if you need help. Enjoy.

If you use (or are considering) Nik plugins with Affinity Photo, this may be useful.
The above link is to a complete bible of Nik material. For help installing the plugin in AP, go to page 41-2 in my AP User Guide

    Finally, it's done: The User Guide's essentials, Part 1 - Workspace & Part 2 -  Editing Basics
This is a reference guide that includes links to all (as in every bit) of Serif's Affinity Photo text and video help material. In addition to the extensive use of links throughout its 71 pages, the footer at the bottom of all pages includes links to the eBook's Table of Contents & its Index as well as to Serif's official text and video tutorial material (the Index is a last minute addition - still a work-in-progress). No need searching Affinity Photo's Help menu and YouTube. If Serif produced it, you'll find links in this guide.

EdK got a reaction from Cecil in Affinity Photo User Guide - Image Repair
It will be available as a free download from my website. The same location where the content, to date, has been posted. I'll try to activate the download option after Part 2 is complete in ~a month.

Thanks. What I wanted to avoid at this stage was explaining details and then further needing to introduce and explain things that go beyond the specific repair tool - like the use of the Sources Panel and its whats & wherefores in conjunction with the Clone Brush. Maybe in the future I'll say -
Until the complete section is complete, it's left to the interested reader to figure out which of the six repair tools was used (hint, not Red Eye) and how - or just wait a few days. A prize if you come up with the answer before then.

A few days ago I posted Affinity Photo User Guide Part 1, Workspace & UI
Part 2 is about a month away, but I'm going to try post the individual sections here, as I post them on my website. Here's the first
Opening & Saving Images I'll add them to the on-line eBook when Part 2 is complete.

Here’s Part 1  ( Workspace & User Interface) of my four part Affinity Photo User Guide. Parts 2 & 3 to be completed by October.
While completing part 1 of this AP guide, I learned a lot about Publisher (and PDF publishing). I hope you find the material, and the flip page book style, interesting.

Thanks for the suggestions. Greatly appreciated!
Walt was correct re. win vs mac for Preferences. I'll make that clearer.
    I agree re. moving 18-19 before 12-13.
I agree (half-way) on 22-25. I think moving 22-23 after 6-7 works. I'll leave 24-25 as is since it makes references to topics that come later in Part 1.
Again, thanks a million for your time & help.

Just getting started with Affinity Photo after years of Photoshop. For starters, decided to try to replicate some of my favorite PS projects - starting with what I call Out-of-Frame. Here are examples from my past work - An Out-of-Frame Portfolio
AND - here's my first attempt with AP. Not exactly what I want, but close.

EdK got a reaction from firstdefence in A few infrareds
Until now, I've used Nik software for my B&W (including IR) processing. This same software can be added to Affinity Photo as a free plugin. How-to instructions for adding the plugin are available in these Affinity forums.
I have a free IR book in my on-line eBook Library (all made with Affinity Publisher, by the way).
Also, there are numerous IR articles in my Photo Improvement blog (use the blog's search box). Finally, on this same blog, there's a 12-part Silver Efex Pro 2 tutorial which includes a Workflow section.
    Hope you find this useful.

The eBook that I referenced will answer all of your questions - and more (and yes IR requires camera modifications and/or special lenses - and techniques). You can read the book in about 20 minutes and know all that you need to know.

Here is a photo-portfolio eBook I’ve been struggling with since December. Finally got a version that I’m satisfied with (well, 75% – I’m picky).
I tried seven different publishing options and learned a lot along the way. The winner, by a mile – Affinity Publisher (which is still in beta).
I wanted the book to be interactive. The book uses nearly 200 hyperlinks to:
move among ~150 photos and  guide the reader to related material my Photography Improvement site as well as my new site, Thru Ed’s Eyes. Any comments and suggestions will be appreciated and may help raise my 75% satisfaction in future eBooks.

Nik Collection resources to add a bit of magic to Affinity Photo
The material referenced here used the Nik plugins with various (non-AP) photo editing programs. The usage and results apply equally to AP.

    1. Nik Tutorials: A few weeks ago, I posted a link on this forum to Nik tutorials (written when I was an invited Nik beta tester, pre-Google) - the most comprehensive tutorials available IMO.

    2. Luminosity Conversion & Blending: A week or so later I added a Nik related series with useful (little known) color theory and Nik luminosity-based B&W conversion techniques and blending that greatly enhance image quality.

    3. Masking & Control-Points: In browsing the Affinity forum, I see that masking is a topic of interest. Nik Control-Point technology makes masking easy-peasy as shown here.

I'll keep adding to this list. Keep in mind, the blog in which these appear is searchable; just type a keyword or two to find items of interest in the nearly 2,000 posts. Since Control Points set Nik apart form other photo editing software, try searching "control points" for all that you'll ever want to know.
