  1. Hi, when I create a new A4 document from the templates in Affinity Designer, it provides the expected 3mm bleed, BUT has a safe zone margin of 25mm. Everywhere I have looked states that a 3mm safe zone is required for A4. Is there a specific reason that Affinity set the default safe zone / margins to 25mm instead? Thank you all in advance.
  2. Hi, I have the following question - Is it not possible to import colour palettes into the iPad version of Affinity Photo? I have around 10 palettes I exported from the desktop version, but I cannot see a way of getting them into the iPad version???
  3. CMYK values of 0%, 0%, 0%, 100% will appear as a dark grey, due to some of the ink being absorbed by the paper. For a deep black try the following CMYK values: 60%, 40%, 40%, 100% Try this and see if its better for you. Hope that helped.
  4. That did the trick! Thank you so much - I am used to Photoshop's clipping masks, and was struggling to find the Affinity Photo equivalent
  5. Hi, I am trying to get to grips with Affinity Photo, but seem to be struggling with the following issue: The bottom layer is a plain black canvas / background. The layer above contains a white shape. The layer above that contains a red to blue gradient. What I need is for the gradient (on the topmost layer), to only show on the white shape which is on the layer below. I have watched the tutorial videos, but when I copy the steps - something different to what is expected happens. Could someone please advise me how to get my gradient to only appear over the white shape? Thank you all in advance.
  6. 1) Create the drawing in vector format in designer on iPad, then save it as an affinity file, (not as a .png). 2) Open the file in the desktop version, display at 100% and add the text layer. 3) Convert the text layer to curves (if necessary).. 4) Resize the document to whatever size you need. 5) Export as .png. This should work as expected. Hope this helped, as you didn't mention if you were using Designer or Photo, and what steps you were taking.
  7. Thanks Walt and John. Yes,, that was exactly my problem - I couldnt even see the eye icon - it is just a miniscule grey blob and didnt even notice it!!
  8. Hi, I have noticed that when some macros are run, they display a dialogue window so you can Edit the amount of the effect. I created a simple Gaussian blur macro but when I run it, no dialogue shows, so the amount of blur that I set when I created it is applied. Could someone please advise me on the exact steps needed to make the dialogue appear when the macro is run? Thanks in advance.
  9. Hi, If I create an A4 size document (201mm x 297mm), in Affinity Photo, - how / where do I add a 3mm bleed to the document size? I can only find a margin option, which I use to set the safe zone. I can easily set the bleed in Affinity Designer, which is obviously meant for creating vector and print destined output, but I thought there might be a way to also do this in Affinity Photo, without just creating the actual document 3mm bigger on all 4 sides. Thank you all in advance.
  10. Thanks Walt - that little icon escaped me. All perfect now - thank you!!
  11. Hi everyone, I was wondering if it is possible for someone to post a .macros file which will simply desaturate completely a single layered file? I have tried to do it myself on the desktop version of Affinity Photo, but it exports as .macro, - and will only import .macroS Could someone possibly help? Thank you all in advance.
  12. Hi, this is slightly off-topic, but I have a folder containing 100 .png image files, and need to append " 300dpi" to the end of each filename. Does anyone know the least painful way of achieving this - either in Affinity Photo, or by way of a windows solution? Thank you all in advance.
  13. Hi, Im using Affinity Photo on Win 10 and when I import an image, I need to find out what dpi the file is. I cannot seem to find out how to do this - I keep having to go to the Document > Resize Document option, and then see what it is from there. Is there a panel or some easier way of seeing a documents dpi settings? Thank you all in advance.
  14. That's what I have been trying, but it doesn't add the current gradient, it adds a previous gradient Must be a bug in the ;latest version?
  15. In the swatches palette. I click on the "Gradients" category and 4 default gradients appear. Is it possible to create my own gradients, and then have them appear in that category? If possible, could someone please describe the steps needed? Thank you all in advance.
  16. Thanks, never noticed that! Pity you cant detach the panel
  17. I have only just noticed that there is no gradient panel in Photo! Is there no way to implement a gradient?
  18. Sorry - Affinity Photo I was talking about. I was just wondering if it was possible to quickly type some text, then slant it isometrically.
  19. Hi, does anyone know of any tutorials on how to convert a normal typed word, into slanted isometric text? Any pointers appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
  20. Wasn't really an appropriate category for this post, so I put it here We should all say a big THANK YOU to the Affinity Team for offering a 90 day trial of all 3 of their products. This shows that they really are looking after designers, and making themselves stand out from other larger companies. I think Affinity will have gained a lot of respect for this gesture, and will hopefully get a lot more new customers from it. I can only speak for myself, but THANK YOU for this gesture, and keep up the excellent work!!
  21. Hi Firstdefence - yes, when I click on File >New, I would like my self made templates to appear in the print templates, alongside all the default ones.
  22. Bruce, I have already exported my document as a template, but what I need is for my document to appear in the list of templates under the File > New option.
