Morne got a reaction from CM0 in Still no javascripting or python support in Photo???
I may have missed it, but I didnt see anything in the announcements or new features.

Disappointed that I have to tell our team we have to still stay on the "other suite".

I'd then once again like to add it as a feature request please.
    (macro recording doesnt cut it)
Please add scripting support in Affinity Photo, as in add support for javascript or python scripts so we can automate our tasks and workflows.

D'oh been using V1 for a few years now on my personal machine because I love the product.  Unfortunately my employer needs to use "other" products simply because we do tons of programmic post processing (translation, mass conversion to different file output ... ect)  looking forward to buying V2 when scripting is implemented.

There isn't any scripting support in V2 yet. We have a dedicated scripting team here typing very quickly but still no definite timeline for release yet.

Just weighing in here to say that this is badly needed. Scripting and automation are super important in getting things done fast and staying competitive in today's marketplace. The Affinity apps are far more stable and user-friendly than PS and AI, but like other people have mentioned I'm forced to keep them installed for use cases when I need to use scripts. I'd much rather just have a Javascript or Python API for your tools to be able to write and run scripts for. Please consider making this a reality team Serif.

    Hi guys,

I think Affinity is the future of design software. The one thing keeping me from switching from Adobe to Affinity is the scripting/automation feature. I have a bunch of scripts running in Photoshop and Illustrator and can't think about switching to Affinity and doing things manually again. You probably got this request earlier, but I'm just signaling the importance of automation/scripting in design software

I hope this feature will appear soon
    All the best from Poland,

I know you just released v2 and all the old v1 feedback and suggestion forums were removed but I need serif to make a separate feature requests and suggestions forum for each v2 product because this whole forum is about to get messy. Lets get organized.

It sure is, but what I was refering to. is that no difference seems to be made between user/buyer of version 1 and customers new to the program...

First of all, thanks alot for updates
It would be really awesome to implement cryptomatte support in near future. Something like this: automatic generation of selection mask layers based on cryptomatte data in OpenEXR files as well as filtering of cryptomatte data layers when opening files.

Morne reacted to Murfee in Publisher question - data merge / data sets? Linked Files
Hi Walt, there is also a different type of linking to external files that Publisher can not do. An example of this is compiling a report, sometimes there is data in a certain range of cells in a spreadsheet for example d2 to g12, this data needs to be linked to a table in the report document. There will be many reasons that the entire spreadsheet is not included. I currently do a lot of this work in the office using Word & Excel, I am looking forward to comprehensive data merge and hopefully as part of that also the ability to link data to tables in Publisher. Charts would really make my day.
I only mentioned this as Morne was requesting data merge rather than mail merge and may need linking to part of a file's contents.

Mask/Channels implementation in AP is different from any other software out there and requires a bit of training, but can almost do anything...  :)
