  1. Can you re-create another image which replicates the same issue? Failing that, can you look in %APPDATA%\Affinity\Photo\1.0 (Beta)\CrashReports and attach the latest file from there (if you've started Photo after the crash it will attempt to upload the report, then delete the files, so you might need to make it crash once more before checking the directory).

Tried with a different one, same res, but about 950MB, same thing. If I lower the res in Photoshopu down to 16000 wide then the file comes down to about 350MB and Affinity opens that no problem, although seems very slow even with that res

  2. Can you upload the image to Dropbox? Even though it's a massive image, it should still be able to load it without running out of memory (which I suspect is what is happening).

It's not RAM, it crashes immediately before anything even gets a chance to try and load. Unfortunately this HDR is under NDA at the moment.

It crashes both when dropping into app and also when trying file > open

  3. Hi all

Is it possible to add layers, with each layer being an external file?

For example I will have a 32 bit affinity photo file made up of say 20 layers and their adjustments. The main "pixel" layer, so 20 of those, will actually be external 32bit images.

The reason I ask is because I work in CGI and many different renders and "layers". With each new render iteration I will save out from my 3D package 20 EXR files. I open my main affinity photo file and all my layers automatically update from the external rendereded EXR files and I can just svae out a jpg from here.

Basically this will save me from manually replacing the 20 layers in affinity, with each new render of the same image.

Render, open affinity, save to jpg, done

  4. Hi Team

Loving Affinity Photo so far, great job on the development!

Is it possible to to do non destructive Tone Mapping? So far it doesnt look like it, or I havent figured out how yet.

Would be nice to be able to add it as an adjustment layer for example? I mostly do linear 32bit CGI work and going back and forth non destructively is a major plus point. Each render is different and I won't be able to remember all the different presets I used on various images. Saving a preset for each image I work is a bit much. If the file I'm working on can "remember" what I did, like with adjustment layers, would be a BONUS!

    Is this at all possible?

  5. Hi all

When in a 32bit image and adding a white balance adjustment layer, then using the picker to get "white" works as expected, but then when you switch the adjustment layer on and off or go to another layer and back to that layer, the picker colors are lost. When you go into the white balance, the values are like it was picked with the picker, but it doesn't affect anything. To make it work I have to adjust the balance and tint 1% left of what it is now...

  6. Hi all

It seems there's a bunch of limitations with the macro recorder, or I'm just over optimistic of what I'm expecting it to do.

    For example:

I often need to do the following on a long very high res image.

    -

    flip the layer horizontal

divide the lenght into 12 bits

chop up each bit into it's own layer and call each layer a unique name

Rotate 4 of the layers 180

    reposition each layer top left.

Crop the lot so I have "1" tile of the 12 (basically 12 layers on top of each other)

  7. Hi all

I can't figure out how to copy just the R or G or B channel from a 32bit image that only contain red green and blue colors.

In photoshop I would just go to channels and select the channel I want for example BLUE (this gives me a pure black and white image, basically an alpha), then I can go to the layers and either paste it as a normal layer, or paste it into a layer adjustments as a mask.

    Help please!

  8. When selecting or when I want to crop, the snap doesnt seem to work to snap to area with pixel info on a layer. It snaps to the end of the canvas, but if I have a layer filling the canvas and on that layer is only a small square in the middle of the layer, then the crop snap doesnt snap to the dge of that square.

I've switched on ALL snapping I could find in Snapping Manager
