can you post an update on this feature?
Looking forward to see this in your app.

Love to be able to copy single nodes, line segments, or a selection of nodes – including the exact geometry of any curve handles – and then paste it/them into the front node an open curve.
With the option of pasting its mirror version – vertical, horizontal, or both.
 
It is very hard to manually make a curve exactly match another one.
Repeatability is crucial for precise work.
 
Snapping control handles (when they arrive) will sure help, but copy/paste of any of a curve's (or shape's) selected bits would be supremo!
 
You can easily copy an entire curve/shape, but not parts of one. 
You can do the former, delete what you don't need, and then attach the bits you need; but that's a long way round.
 
I apologize if you've heard any or all of this before (and please correct me if any of this is already possible).
 
Oh, and as Sven Kalkschmidt already suggested, the functionality of the following Illustrator plugin looks amazingly useful:

I'm creating a font using Affinity Designer and I have to export each letter individually, this could be done easily but I need the slices to be 256x256 in their dimensions. Right now the only ways I know how to do this is by either dragging and creating a lot of 256x256 slice squares or by turning each letter object into a slice but then I would have to rescale those as well! 
 
It would be really useful if there was a way to just copy drag a slice, or being able to edit the transform of multiple selected slices. Am I missing something or is this really not possible?

Will it be possible in future to (power) duplicate (and copy/paste) slices [in AD]?

Not sure if I missed it or the feature is missing but seems there is no vertical layout for Frame Text Tool.
 
Would be great to have centering options there: top, center, bottom.

Hi Matt, I know that you guys are working hard so don't worry my question is only because I am wondering, no stress. Considering that the release of the 1.6 version is delayed, can we know if that feature is still in the loop, a priority and will it come in that version?

We only ever release the next version when it's ready - so we don't know when that will be, but I'd imagine it will be quicker than the 1.4->1.5 update cycle this time as we're trying to improve and flesh-out the features we already have and resolve long-standing issues and performance problems, whereas other updates have focused on adding new functionality which always has a volatile development time.

We do have prototyping already working behind-the-scenes in the current Designer, but it is disabled while we work through and flesh it out. Hopefully 1.6 will enable this functionality :)

Hi I think I already wrote something similar but I think it is pretty important for us and you hehehe.

I seriously think that Affinity Designer with an interactions/prototyping persona could be a huge step and asset for you guys and us as users. Considering the popularity of Sketch and additionnaly Invision or Flinto and also the new tool of Adobe Experience Design. If you add this kind of persona you will certainly gain a good spot in the market.
 
But at the end it is simply my opinion.

I think the main problem I and others have is if a doc has hundreds of layers it is practically impossible to find the layer in the panel. I'd like to see when you try to select a locked layer, that it is highlighted in some fashion on the page and gets selected in the layers panel.
 
As far as locking the layer via a padlock on the actual layer, instead of the padlock only being visible when the layers locked, just change it to a toggle switch. 

Once a layer is locked, is there a way to select it? This would be useful if I want to a) unlock it, or b) want to right-click it so that I can find the layer in the layer list. How else would you find it if you have hundreds (or thousands) of layers?
 
In Sketch, if you right click a layer, you can still select it even if it's locked by right-clicking (see attachment). Anything like that in Designer?

Hi, I'm looking for the Affinity equivalent of DrawPlus' Autotrace function that converts bitmaps into editable vectors. Can't seem to find it. Is it there?

I'd like to be able to draw an SVG graphic and display the code for that SVG in a text editor.
 
This is extremely useful for Web Designers / Front End Developers.

maybe I'm missing it, but is there an option to open a JPEG, or bitmap image
and trace,or convert it to a vector file for further editing? If not there should be one, it would be a great option. even if it had only a few modes like black and white, and 5 color
it would make me convince me to convert from adobe illustrator

Hope the app can save studio settings.When I do different work I use to make different layout for it.
For example when I do graphic design I just need 5 tools from the studio, but when I do UI design or layout I need other tools from the studio.

I like the ability to customize the tools pallet - however the changes do not carry over when reopening AD - How do I save it as the new default layout?

Hello, I just noticed that at the very top of the window next to the file name is a number with the percentage sign next to it and its in round brackets. 
 
I was just wondering if anyone could explain to me what does it represent.

Call it plug-ins or scripts, I would love to see something like that developed by Serif.
I hope that Serif will do a better job than Adobe, though.
 
Quite frankly I would standardise on JavaScript.
It would satisfy both mac and windows users and would prevent maintaining 2 languages by the plugin developers one for Mac and another for Windows platform.

i'm new to Affinity Designer, an di'm trying to learn how to use symbols.
 
I think i have mostly understood how to use them, but one thing still has no answer :
 
Is it possible to "unsync" text content from a symbol, without unsyncing it's properties.
 
Like i have a button wich it's text is red and bold, and i need to duplicate it and change the text (let's say from "OK" to "KO").
 
Will i still be able to change the color of all my buttons on a layout (as the are all based on the same symbol) ? And if yes, how do i do it? As it seems that Unsync and Resync button doesn't work on texts.

Granted it took Adobe something like 20 years to put this feature into Illustrator, so I'm not expecting this to appear overnight, but is there a way to convert between these two kinds of text types?
 
 

Those are features that I also depend on in screen printing work.  Illustrator does it very nicely.

I have recently switched my whole research group from using AI to using Affinity Designer. However, the thing that every single user heavily complained about, and that really limits the utility of AffinityDesigner for us, is the lack of an option to select a key or reference object that stays put during alignment and distribution operations.
 
This is very crucial for the preparation of scientific data plots where one really cannot have the data points shifting around when aligning them to their labels. It would also be very helpful for preparing multi-paneled figure etc.
 
Also, while at it, a 'select same color/stroke/fill/...' feature would be great, and the eyedropper tool could use some attention (eg. for text and vector objects)
 
Please make these available, and I will promise, that there will be a landslide of scientists moving away from their current overpriced rental software to using Affinity Designer

First of all, thanks to the Affinity Team for the great tool.
However, I also want to stress the point, that aligning to a key object is a basic feature that should be on the roadmap, well before advanced features.
