Hi! Small thing, but I see no reason why in the preset paper sizes these very common poster sizes are not present. Would be great to add!

Google has introduced JPEGLI, a new better type of JPEG that seems to be compatible with existing JPEG decoders. It seems to improve the quality of the JPEG images, and at the same time give a 35% better compression. It's also 10 bit, instead of 8 bit.
It's an open source library, so Serif could use it without license problems.
Could it be useful to implement JPEGLI in Affinity Photo etc. ?

Philippe BOIS reacted to Wanesty in Linux user base keep growing !
I am writing to request an update on the potential release of a Linux port of the Affinity Suite. I understand that in the past, the small user base for Linux compared to macOS and Windows was a concern. However, I would like to bring to your attention that the number of Linux users has significantly increased since the forum posts discussing this issue in 2016-2018. This survey conducted by Stack Overflow, demonstrates the increased adoption of Linux by professionals developers. A similar survey show the same increase in VFX studios, and other artistic industries for stability and deployment reasons. Both shows that Linux exceed macOS's user base by a significant amount.
I also wanted to mention the availability of Flatpak / Flathub as a solution to the issue of portability and stability across different Linux distributions. In addition, I wanted to address the concern of profitability in the development of a Linux release. While it is not a perfect solution, I have seen that the Affinity Suite primarily uses OpenGL, who have been implemented well on Linux and .NET 4.8 achieve acceptable stability through the use of wine.
As a professional photo editor, vector graphics, and page layout software, the Affinity Suite would be a valuable addition to the Linux ecosystem, filling a gap in the market for high-quality professional software on this platform. I hope that you will consider these points in your current position on a Linux release.
I respectfully request that Could you provide us with your current stance on a Linux release, taking into account the points mentioned above.

Me, too. I'd like to have such a tool. However, not solely reserved for Publisher alone, but that it is available for Designer as well.

Philippe BOIS reacted to Terry44 in Feature Request: MORE Customization of Interface
Not sure if this has been suggested.

The current option to customize the tool bar with the available tools is nice.  I prefer the added ability in addition to what is there to customize all the panels and have a universal tool set that consists of ALL the tools from all the panels and allow me to place any tool from any panel or menu on any other panel, tool bar or interface item.   This would allow for creation of custom panels and not just collections of panels.

There is a software that takes this to a new level.  PaintStorm Studio Pro
    paintstormstudio.com

That software allows complete customization of EVERYTHING within the interface including individual tools.   I would really like more of that type of customization within the Affinity softwares.

Bringing the DELETE icon button over to the tool menu from the layers panel would be great!
    Stuff like that...

Philippe BOIS reacted to Brad Studio in Affinity Photo 2: AVIF Support??
I'm saving a lot of images from Google Image Search and finding they're AVIF, and I can't open them in Affinity Photo 2. Meanwhile, Adobe has integrated generative AI that can do all kinds of mad wizardry to create mind-blowing images just by typing text.
It's time for Serif to stop slacking off and catch up before that quiet sucking sound becomes a full-blown vacuum of losing all its users back to Adobe.

@Pšenda can pontificate all he/she/they want.  For reasons already stated, we need AVIF support.  And there is no shortage of people requesting it.  See Showing results for 'AVIF'. - Affinity | Forum (serif.com)
Serif, please add the ability to import and export AVIF images.

FWIW, the only builtin business card preset I have in AD v1.9.3 on my Mac is 88 x 55 mm, so it does not seem to match any of the standard sizes very well.

    Status: Beta
    Purpose: Updates and Fixes
    Requirements: Purchased Affinity Publisher

    Download: Download
    Auto-update: Available
    Hi,
We are pleased to announce that Affinity Publisher Customer Beta 1.9.0.850 is now available as a download from the link above.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.
This beta is significant update from the 1.8 version available for purchase - we strongly recommend that you do not use this beta for real work as data could be lost and the files you save are not guaranteed to open in previous or future versions of Affinity Publisher.

    Bonjour messieurs les développeurs,

Il serait important de rajouter un système de cotation simple sur les objets en plus des grilles et des guides
un système équivalent au logiciels de dessins industriels
    ex: http://www.cvm.qc.ca/geoffrio/index/dessintiv/cours3/images/fig1217modifie.gif

Cela permettrais de pouvoir modifier en temps réel la distance qui séparent soient de leurs centres, soient d'une de leurs extrémités

autres chose rajouter un outil règle ou mesure avec s'il vous plaît Cela serai top et important

    Merci

As have I, and yes, it is in Beta so not for sale just yet.
When this Publisher program can manage to perform the two main publishing tasks in the world today - digital books and web based projects, I will be buying it too.
At the moment, it only does little booklets etc so not a priority for me.
As for the icons, most software designers try for something eye-catching and relevant, as the Affinity team have done until today.
My current two Affinity programs are the best I have ever used (for Photos and Design). Perhaps in version 2 or 3, Publisher will reach that level.

I didn't realize the icon had changed. Just downloaded the new Beta and... wow that is ugly. I much prefer the old splash screen and icon. I have these in my dock all the time and that new one I would not want to have to look at all the time. I much prefer the old one, for the record. The old one was plain but not too plain.

Philippe BOIS reacted to Mithferion in Beta .178 - Petitions for Construction Mode
    Hi there!
So far, I'm pleased and impressed with the idea of the Construction Items (the three points circle is beautiful), but if I may ask for two thing, it'd be:
Ability to rescale Construction Items. If I change the Document size, it'd be great to rescale the Construction Items as well. Ability to resize Construction Circles individually. Because maybe I didn't create it the right way or I want to adjust it. Also, I know you can delete Construction Items, but so far I wasn't able to do so. The status bar says Click + RightMouse to delete point, and I suppose that means clicking with both buttons of the mouse at the same time...

    Best regards!

I like the current 1.6 beta of the Designer app. I drew a website design in it and now I want to code it.

But I feel like back in the old days of Photoshop, when I need to ques every dimension, unit (pt to px conversion), color, gradient etc, by hand.

Current and most used apps for web/UI design have a decent way of CSS properties export, which provides clear definition of a designer intentions. Just look at Sketch, Photoshop, Avocode etc. they all have it, because it's a must for using a design further in a development chain.

Please Affinity, consider this feature (or API for it), if you're serious about targeting Designer for the UI design area. Thanks.
